Come volunteer with us refurbishing donated bicycles so that they can be used again by the community! This event is open to both new and existing volunteers. No mechanical experience is necessary. Note: The warehouse location is in the alley behind 1502 Mt Vernon Ave. Enter through the gray door next to a roll-down garage door. If you drive to the location, be sure to park in the street, not in the alleys or parking lots surrounding the warehouse. And wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty with bicycle grease! According to Slavic folklore, in the late spring the rusalki, an East Slavic version of mermaids, emerge from lakes and streams to water crops and to claim lives. They're mostly beautiful, with wild hair and blazing eyes, and they’re more than happy to drag smitten young men to watery graves. Join Philippa Rappoport, an expert on Slavic folklore and rituals, for a discussion of the water spirits of Ukraine, Belarus and Russia and the traditions centered around them. She'll describe how rusalki were both revered and feared by people who would sing songs in their honor while carrying protective charms. You'll learn how East Slavic mermaid lore permeated wedding rituals and parades, inspired the construction of effigies, and reflected beliefs about women that, throughout the world, have translated into a lot of concern over how women wear their hair and cover their heads. Philippa has wowed crowds with fascinating talks on East Slavic nature spirits and folktales related to the underworld and winter. Her accounts of mermaids promise to be equally entertaining. Title: Quantum Computing for Business (Exploring Opportunities Available Today) Date: June 27 2026 Saturday Noon - 14:00 EDT Summary: Big media reports that current quantum computers are not able to attack business problems at scale. In Ron's experience, this is only about 95% true. He has found that certain types of quantum computers, specifically quantum annealers, are very good at solving constraint based optimization problems at business scale. This presentation will answer the question “What is quantum computing?” by comparing quantum computers to classical computers and describing the various types of quantum qubits. Ron 'll introduce what quantum computers can be used for and what they shouldn't be used for. Next, Ron will look at a number of quantum computing use cases that are currently available to businesses today. Finally, Ron ’ll present conclusions with a brief discussion of future hardware. There will be time for Q & A. Speaker: Ron has been fortunate to have worked in a broad range of technical disciplines during his career. Areas in which he developed expertise and innovative results include, digital hardware design, silicon functional architecture (chips), computer language compiler development, and medical software. Ron has recently immersed himself in quantum computing technologies and has obtained more than a dozen certificates across the quantum spectrum. These technologies include various hardware platforms, numerous quantum programming frameworks and quantum sensors. As a co-founder and CQTO of B2Quantum, Inc, Ron has served as a quantum computing Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a large pharma company. As a SME, he performed quantum computing use case analysis, strategic planning, budget guidance and risk analysis. Outside of the technical arena, Ron is a licensed pilot, certified open water SCUBA diver, bicyclist, wood worker and a once in a while artist.

Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure.
