Community Conversations: Educating the Whole Person
What if one of the most important opportunities in education was one we rarely talk about?
Join us for an evening exploring insights into how spiritual development in the education system can shape character, resilience, and our ability to navigate the ongoing challenges and opportunities of life.
Community Conversations provides a warm and inclusive space for meaningful discussions, and to spark positive initiatives in our neighbourhoods.
The evening will begin with a brief presentation by Andre Pitts, an educator with decades of experience in Melbourne schools, who will share his reflections on the theme.
This will be followed by shared group consultation, where we can explore the ideas together, along with time to connect, socialise, and enjoy light refreshments.
This is a free event and all are invited to attend.

Hands Up Who'd Like a Hug
Hi all,
Sorry im late posting. Completely forgot.
Now we have an unwritten nova group rule, we see all Melbourne films. Plus its comedy festival time, so Ive pick Hands Up Who'd like a Hug.
NOTE this screening is a special event but there are lots of tickets left. Its in cinema 9 one of the regular/standard cinemas....no tips for this one, but you would want to be towards the back.
We'll be in the usual meeting place [read on for details] from 6:45pm 'ish. If there's something else on your film wish list that you want to catch instead (still recommending I swear), then please feel free to do so and catch us in the Nova bar afterwards for a chat.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Cheers,
Alicia

Produced on iPhone13, featuring a brilliant young comic cast, made on the smell of an oily rag, a Melbourne-made, hilarious, heart-warming comedy is coming to Cinema Nova as part of a very special Melbourne Comedy Festival presentation.
Thomas, a young oddball millionaire without any friends, sobers up a homeless drunk, Deacon, in an effort to make his very first friend. Meanwhile Thomas’s neighbour, Blake, discovers his girlfriend once had a ‘Three-Day Life-Changing Sex Marathon’ with his best mate, Logan. Although this happened years before Blake and his girlfriend got together, Blake is so intimidated, he decides to end the friendship with Logan – only Logan won’t let him. These four guys become entangled when Blake and Logan start competing to be Thomas’s best mate just to annoy each other. Thomas, oblivious to the real reason for their sudden interest, is ecstatic about new friend prospects but Deacon becomes homicidally possessive.
**--=>+ Tickets +<=--**
Everyone will need to buy their own ticket online and in advance. If you want to sit with other group members, there's a tendency for us to pick seats in the back two rows. Those who feel comfortable can catch up in Nova's bar afterward.
**--=>+ Afterwards+<=--**
We meet in Nova's bar after the movie. Look for us in the area to the left as you go down the steps. Share your thoughts about the film with the group over a drink of your choice.
If the bar is closed we typically head across the road to the Wolf's Lair which is out the back of Jimmy Watson's.

Also, please read all details, in this page and eventbrite page
Hello everyone,
You are warmly invited to this immersive afternoon of Authentic Relating. This event will involve fun and interactive exercises based around exploring the theme, "What is like to be in connection with myself and others?"
This is a space for exploring feelings, sensations, boundaries, and self-expression through immersive exercises. This is about empathic collaboration and learning the art of expressing what is present in the moment.
These beautiful practices really encourage an experience of increased depth and awareness, in a way that is sometimes not available in our everyday lives. The exercises work by creating a framework to explore communication in a non-scripted, in the moment way, which edges away from habitual patterns of relating and welcomes in more life, more breath, and more empathy.
One of the benefits of practices, is that it helps with learning to become more aware of ourselves and others and how do we inter-relate.
\*\*\*NOTE: It is recommended that participants have some experience introspection and shadow work, through participating in counselling, sharing circles, meditation, contemplation, yoga, or any modality that is designed to bring people into contact with their unconscious. This is stated as a duty of care, as the practices in authentic relating revolve around meeting ourselves deeply and coming into contact with how we are occurring the world. This process can be beautifully enlivening, and at times confronting, but the space is guided in such a way that it brings as much holding, and gentleness to the process as to make those courageous steps to share deeply, easier.
If you are new to Authentic Relating or "AR" (as people in the community refer to it) and you have any questions or curiosities, please feel free to contact me via messenger for a chat. Also, there is a plenty of YouTube results for Authentic Relating practices.

About me.
I've had a long history of interest in understanding my mind through various means of enquiry from Meditation, Yoga, Transpersonal Counselling, Sound Healing and Neurofeedback. In the last 8 years I have been deeply involved in the Authentic Relating movement immersing myself in practices and deriving tremendous insight into myself a growth within my own personal relationships as a result of this work. I have been facilitating groups to journey deeply into this work for the last 4 years and I am continually on a journey of getting to know myself deeper and bring artistry and humility to facilitating.
The event will most likely finish on time, with a 10-minuet buffer at the end in case we go over, there will be spare time to hang around and chat after.
There will also be a 15-minute break in the middle of the event, with some small snacks provided.

They say you can’t put lipstick on a pig. Well call the Guinness Book of Records, 'cause I did it and she’s a sexy little sow.
This show is not about that, I just wanted to let you know that it can be done, and the results are absolutely stunning.
You may have seen me on *Taskmaster*, *Gold Diggers*, *Thank God You’re Here* or a bunch of other shows if you are partial to free to air TV.
I’ve also won some bigtime comedy awards if you care about that stuff. I’ve won Raw Comedy, Best Newcomer at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, The Pinder Prize and been nominated for Most Outstanding Show.
Luke Morris - An Introvert's Guide to Extroverts @ City Library, Melbourne
\*\*\*This is not a hosted Meetup. I'm actually on stage at this show, so can't host. However I am inviting you, and offering the "Cost of Living Help" price. So you're welcome along.\*\*\*
Event ticket site: https://www.comedyfestival.com.au/browse-shows/an-introvert-s-guide-to-extroverts/
Event description from the ticket page:
.........
Following the New Zealand International Science Festival, Luke is returning to Melbourne International Comedy Festival with more goofing and education about introverts and extroverts.
\-\-\-
PSY24IGE: The role of introverts in society has been diminishing in recent years with their historical positions increasingly taken by those with extrovert tendencies. How can introverts survive and what do they need to do to adapt?
This lecture explores the history of introverts in society, their current status and potential future.
It is a core lesson within PSY24 and may be attended by others for course credit.
Update, tutor Matt Boring (Luke Morris) will be taking this lecture and there are to be no questions about Dr. Lachmann's escaped lab monkeys. It's all totally fine. Do not worry about the escaped monkeys. Bundoora University has that all under control.

[CLICK HERE TO BOOK YOUR SEAT](https://MelbournePoets.eventbrite.com.au)
Budding poets, writers and lyricists join Melbourne Poets for our monthly Poetry & Prose Meetup! This is a true open mic event (usually without the need for a microphone). There'll be an opportunity to read your work (if you're brave enough) and listen to others over a drink or two. You don't need to be published; you just need to be passionate about your craft.
So grab a support buddy and come along to our luxe loungeroom hidden away in the 170-year-old bluestone cellars in East Melbourne's Tribeca precinct. We've got great cocktails, back-vintage wines, craft brews, amazing food, and good vibes in a chilled and supportive safe space.
RULES: This is a ticketed event due to limited seating capacity. $20 of your ticket price is offset against any bar drinks and food ordered through the venue on the day. Please ensure each piece is less than 5 minutes for those wanting to read. Depending on attendance and number of readers, there may be multiple opportunities to read. Please no "clicking" or trauma porn, and no self-promotion allowed during the readings but networking after the event is absolutely OK.
GETTING THERE: We recommend you use public transport or rideshare. We are on the 12/109 tram line (stop 16, Wellington St), several Bus Routes (302, 303, 304, 305, 309, 318, 350, 905, 906, 907, 908) or a 5-10 minute walk from Jolimont and North Richmond train stations. Option 1 (and the one I'll be seeing) is the top-reviewed comedy-drama, THE CHRISTOPHERS! The film is set in the art world and follows the estranged children of a former artist who hire a forger. It is directed by Steven Soderberg, stars Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel and has been earning rave reviews on the indie circuit. Option 2 is the latest action-thriller starring Bob Odenkirk, NORMAL! The film follows a temporary small-town sheriff who uncovers dark mysteries after a local bank robbery. Here are descriptions, trailers and our plan for this event:

BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film is earning an excellent 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes where critics call it a “dynamic, emotional and surprising journey” and a “compelling chamber piece that works like intellectual comfort food.” Others call the film, an “incredibly funny, comedy drama with plot reversals that make it feel like it’s on the verge of a thriller!” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H79-EqzmdwY&t=20s
NORMAL: This action-crime-thriller follows a man who comes to the sleepy town of Normal, Minnesota to serve as the temporary sheriff. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking is available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1
week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events!
Should be a good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan
How to Be a Better Communicator - Free Seminar
How to be a Better Communicator
Communication is everything in life
You are only as successful as your ability to communicate.
\- What if you could confidently talk to anyone?
\- What if you had the ability to calmly control every conversation?
\- What if you could close that sale\, ask for that date\, make new friends\, repair problematic relationships\, get that raise\, or effortlessly express any idea with confidence?
You can!
The secret to success relies on your ability or inability to effectively communicate. Attend a free seminar and gain a better ability to communicate.
