Coffee Talk
Coffee Talk
Fulfillment. Joy. – Do you know what it is? Do you feel it now? Many of us are living lives that have “just sort of happened”. We had a dream, a vision (maybe we still do) for what we wanted our lives to look like. Somewhere along the way, life took over and something else ended up happening. We made decisions, took a turn down a path, and now our life isn’t what we thought it would be. Or we’re living someone else’s life. Maybe it’s what our parent’s wanted for us. What we believe our partner or a potential partner might want. Or maybe it’s what we believe we need to do and have to be happy. I was one of these people. My life checked all the boxes for what I thought I needed in order to be happy. And still, I wasn’t. Join me for a coffee talk on what it means to live a Life By Design. Where your choices are deliberate and based on your authentic, true self. What you have to let go off to achieve this (hint: the notion that vulnerability is a weakness and feelings of fear and guilt) and who you will become in the process.
Tuesday Foodclub
Tuesday Foodclub
We are a group of people meeting on Tuesdays to socialize around cooking and eating together. Usually around 40-50 people. Many are international students, but also other people join. The foodclub exist independent of Meetup, we invite you because we have room for a few more people. The food is vegan and made from donated leftover veggies from a local greengrocery. The place has originally hosted leftwing activist groups, and many of the people joining are also involved in political groups. If you want to join for chopping and cooking, we will be doing that from 3 to 6 pm. It is possible to join part of the time. From 6 to 8pm we are serving food. Donation around 30 kroner. If you are helping out some hours, chopping, cooking or cleaning, you can eat for free. From 8 to 9 - 9:30 pm we are cleaning up the place. We hope to see you in our lovely foodclub <3

Spark Performance & The North Star of Data Catalogs
Spark Performance & The North Star of Data Catalogs
**Get ready for the next edition of the Copenhagen Data Engineering Meetup!** On the 18th of February, we are gathering at **Unity’s** Copenhagen headquarters for an evening dedicated to fine-tuning our engines and navigating the future of open data ecosystems. Whether you’re looking to squeeze every ounce of performance out of your Spark jobs or trying to make sense of the rapidly evolving catalog landscape, this is an event you won't want to miss. ### The Lineup We have two deep-dive sessions featuring experts from the front lines of data platform engineering: **Spark Tuning & Best Practices: From Theory to Production-Ready Performance** *Asaf Sneh (Unity)* Moving from a Spark job that "just works" to one that is production-hardened and cost-efficient is no small feat. Asaf will take us through the journey of Spark optimization, bridging the gap between theoretical best practices and the realities of running high-performance workloads at scale within Unity. **Graduating Class of 2026? The Current State of Apache Polaris (incubating)** *William Martin (Dremio)* As the industry moves toward open table formats, the question of "who manages the metadata" has never been more relevant. William will give us an insider look at Apache Polaris. With it being 2026, we’ll explore its progress through the Apache incubator, its role in the Iceberg ecosystem, and whether it’s ready to become the "valedictorian" of your data architecture. And, of course, a Data Engineering meetup wouldn't be complete without the chance to talk shop over a good meal. **Dinner and drinks** will be provided by our generous sponsors, **Unity** and **Dremio**. *** ### 📍 Location & Venue The event is hosted by **Unity** at their offices in Copenhagen. *Stay tuned for specific entry instructions closer to the date.* ### Agenda * **18:00:** People Arriving + Networking * **18:15:** Introduction * **18:20:** Spark Tuning & Best Practices (Asaf Sneh, Unity) * **19:00:** Dinner & Drinks * **19:30:** The Current State of Apache Polaris (William Martin, Dremio) * **20:10:** Networking & Wrap-up We look forward to seeing the community come together for another night of great technical discussions!

Fake news, generated AI and the future of “reality”
Fake news, generated AI and the future of “reality”
**Truth, Trust, Technology, and a World You Can’t Quite Verify** We’re entering a time where seeing is no longer believing. AI can generate voices, faces, videos, articles—and entire narratives—almost indistinguishable from reality. When everything can be fabricated perfectly, what happens to truth, trust, and our shared sense of what’s real? This isn’t a media literacy workshop or a tech lecture. It’s a philosophical conversation about reality itself in an age of artificial generation. *** **Topics we’ll touch on:** * When AI can fake anything, does “truth” still exist in a meaningful way? * Deepfakes, synthetic news, and the erosion of shared facts * Is reality becoming personalized—different for each of us? * Who decides what is real: humans, algorithms, platforms, or states? * Can democracy survive without a common understanding of truth? * Are we heading toward radical skepticism—or digital authoritarianism? * And finally… how do we live well when certainty itself starts to dissolve? Casual discussion. No technical background needed. Just curiosity, openness, and a willingness to question what you think you know. Whether you feel worried, intrigued, or strangely detached from it all—you’re not alone. Let’s question the images, the stories—and maybe even our own assumptions about reality.
Time for improv fun!
Time for improv fun!
Welcome for some fun improv games together :) About us: We are a bunch of people of all ages and backgrounds, gathering to share the common passion for improv. Improvisation, or Improv for short, is a form of live theatre in which the story, characters and scenes are without a script and made up in the moment, completely different every time. The actors are acting, directing themselves, writing the plot and interacting with each other all at the same time without previous planning. Improvisation can help you with your social and business skills by training your mind to think quickly and react to unexpected situations. In Improvisation, there are no lines to memorize and you play off other creatively challenged fun-loving, global-minded people who loves laughing at themselves. It’s a great way to socialize and make new friends. It’s a welcoming atmosphere, we want you to join in the fun, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced improviser – come and lets enjoy together! We usually start with some warm-ups that help us relax, listen and focus. Then we move on to doing different kinds of short scene fun games with each other, making characters, stories and our small worlds. In improv mistakes are welcome and you will have goooood times! We charge 50 kr in advance in order to cover our expenses. Swish is king! See you very soon ;) Please come only if you are in good health! P.S. This is a multidisciplinary community and meetup for innovators, creators, and techies who are passionate about learning and talking about artificial intelligence. The event is open from 16:45. The program starts 17:15. **Lightning talks (15 minutes)** * [Thomas Bolander](https://www2.compute.dtu.dk/~tobo/), PhD, Professor at DTU Compute (Technical University of Denmark) * [Sofie Grue Haumann](https://www.connectedwomeninai.dk/speaker/sofie-grue-haumann/), AI Enablement Lead, Enterprise AI, Novo Nordisk * [Ananth Gopal](https://www.linkedin.com/in/agopk/), PhD, Team lead, AI & Data platform, Nilfisk **Demos (10 minutes)** * Christian Zigler & Sebastian Stilou, [Tapp](https://www.usetapp.io/) ***SPEAKER BIOS & TOPICS:*** **Thomas Bolander**, PhD, is a professor at [DTU Compute](https://www.compute.dtu.dk/). His main research focus is on the modelling of social phenomena and social intelligence with the aim of creating explainable computer systems that can interact robustly and intelligently with humans and other computer systems. He is one of the founders and main researchers within the area of *Epistemic Planning* \- providing AI agents\, e\.g\. robots\, with the ability to take the perspective of other agents into account when planning\. He is also one of the central public communicators of AI in Denmark with several hundreds of popular science talks and media appearances. In 2019, he received the H.C. Ørsted award for excellence in science communication. Thomas has also served on a number of commissions and think tanks working on the societal aspects of digitalisation and AI (including the SIRI commission, the TechDK commission, the Tiger Council, and the Governmental Expert Group on Tech Giants). In 2024, he received the DAIR "Lifetime achievement in AI" award for his research and research communication. Topic: Intentions, attention and social intelligence. Human social intelligence relies heavily on our ability to infer what others intend to do or what their focus of attention is. Fluent human-robot interaction requires robots to have similar abilities. But how to give them that? What are the relevant paradigms and methods within AI, and what can we learn from philosophy and cognitive psychology to help us built more socially intelligent and situation-aware robots for the future? **Sofie Grue Haumann** has been working with AI adoption since 2016, starting her career in a startup and now holding the role of AI Enablement Lead, Enterprise AI at Novo Nordisk. She has a background from CBS and her focus has always been on enhancing people-centric AI adoption, bridging the gap between innovative technology, user engagement and enablement. She is passionate about inspiring people to get started with their AI journey, regardless of their technical and has a strong track record of driving inspiring, educating and empowering initiatives that promote integration of AI. Topic: "How Novo Nordisk is driving AI adoption across the enterprise — and how we measure the impact." **Ananth Gopal**, leads a data & AI team in [Nilfisk](https://www.nilfisk.com/global/professional/)'s "Autonomous & Digital Solutions" division. He earned his PhD in computing applied to robotics, and has since worked in roles across both academia and industry. His current interests lie in applying vision-language models and reinforcement learning to control robots. Topic: "Teaching Robots to Learn: A Live Reinforcement Learning Demo" **Christian Zigler** is a Danish entrepreneur with a passion for leveraging technology to empower small businesses and also the founder of Tapp. **Sebastian Stilou** is a deeptech AI software developer and architect and a leading voice in the world of proactive AI. Topic: "Tapp is an AI-enabled POS for independent cafés, kitchens and retailers." ... ***Venue:*** [EK Erhvervsakademi København](https://www.ek.dk/english) \- Guldbergsgade Campus \(formerly known as "KEA"\)\. ***Sponsorship opportunities:*** Please contact the group administrator ([Martin Schultz](https://www.linkedin.com/in/martinschultz/)) if you would like to be an event sponsor, a sponsor of food and/or beverages or if you would like be a future venue sponsor. Intro to Shaders in Unity
Intro to Shaders in Unity
This meetup is a beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop focused on building shaders in Unity using Shader Graph. Instead of slides or theory-heavy lectures, we'll build real shaders together step-by-step. The format is structured but interactive. You'll watch a quick demo, then build each shader yourself with guidance. By the end, you'll have created multiple shaders you can immediately use in your own projects—and understand how to make more. **What to Expect:** * Build 4–5 complete shaders from scratch * Color tints, snow accumulation, scrolling water, dissolve effects, and more * No prior shader experience required * Checkpoint files provided if you fall behind * Resources for continued learning All experience levels are welcome. Whether you've never opened Shader Graph or just want to fill gaps in your knowledge, this is a supportive space to learn by doing. **Food and drinks provided. Join us to learn, build, and level up your shader skills.** I added the Unity project to the repo here - https://github.com/EricJRico/IntroToShaders.git This is what we'll be using for the session.
