Biggest Christian IRL singles party - Carnaby Street
Grab your ticket here: https://www.fatsoma.com/e/xhpw4l8v/biggest-christian-irl-singles-party-carnaby-street
It’s been four years of BODA, where friendships, flirty IRL feels, snogs, and deep connections have all come together in rooms full of genuinely good people. And now, we’re introducing something a little new as part of our faith dating series.
**Welcome to BODA’s first ever IRL Christian singles social**
A night for Christian singles who want to meet in real life, not through a profile, not through endless DMs or algorithms.
We’ve seen countless numbers swapped, keys exchanged, holidays planned, weddings celebrated, and even BODA babies born. Whether it’s a spark of romance or a friend for life, we’re beyond thrilled with the magic that happens when people just meet offline.
Our socials have been called wholesome, even a real boost for single people’s mental health, which means a lot, because modern dating can be tough on both the head and the heart. So come for the rom-com energy, stay for the kind people and the easy conversation.
This time, we’re bringing those warm, fuzzy alpine ski-lodge feels to a rooftop: **the incredible Little Violet Door** - cosy corners and a room full of Christian singles ready to meet in the best way possible.
**What to expect**
• **A singles-only club**
• **A community of Christian singles** who value intention, sincerity, slower, meaningful connections over swipe culture.
• **Our BODA hosts** on hand all night - welcoming you in, helping you settle (especially if you come solo), and keeping the vibe warm, safe and fun.
• **A strict no-creep policy.** Always lead with respect. If someone isn’t interested, we 'respect the rejection' and move on with kindness. We also have an anti-ghosting policy ❤️
Our hosts can’t wait to welcome you - **come as you are, come solo if you want (95% of people do), and come ready to meet someone offline.**
See you there. We can’t wait to meet you! xo
Questions? DM us anytime or check us out on Instagram **@boredofdatingapps**.
**The essentials**
• **Tickets:** non-refundable.
By buying a ticket, you agree to be part of our social media snaps and videos from the night.
Evening Meditation
An easy way to take time out: a **30-minute guided meditation** to pause, let go of your day, unwind your mind and create a space for calm and peace.
**This is a free in-person meditation.**

Monday Evening Chanting Circle - with Gayatri in Elephant & Castle
**Monday Evening Chanting Circle \| 6:30–8:00pm**
Start the week by unwinding your body and mind through voice and sound.
This weekly chanting class is a relaxed, welcoming space to come together after work and reset through simple, shared vocal practice.
We use a mix of:
* Sanskrit mantras
* Rainbow songs
* Shamanic chants
* Gentle voicework
Chanting is a form of meditation that works through rhythm, breath, and repetition. You don’t need any musical experience and you don’t need to sing “well.” The voice is used as a natural tool for grounding and release, not performance.
Practising regularly can help:
* Settle the nervous system after a busy day
* Quiet mental over-activity
* Release tension held in the body
* Improve breathing and vocal ease
Chanting in a group makes the practice easier and more enjoyable. The shared sound helps people relax more quickly and feel supported, even if they’re new to using their voice. Over time, regular group chanting can build a sense of stability, clarity, and connection.
Each session includes time to arrive, chant together, and rest in stillness at the end, so you leave feeling calmer and more centred than when you arrived.
Come as you are. No experience needed.

Cosmic Coffee Chats: Consciousness, The Paranormal & the Universe of Stars
Time is precious. Here we value non-boring valuable chats and interactions that are fully engaging, soulfully enriching, inspiring, and leave you a bit wiser than when you arrived. In that spirit (mind the pun!), today’s fully hosted laid back social coffee chat will offer a perfect haven for the inquisitive & curious - those drawn to the mysteries of the universe, life and everything in between.
A tasty caffeine infused fun afternoon of thought-provoking causal chats exploring spirituality/consciousness and related interconnected topics spanning **philosophy,** **neuroscience**, **parapsychology,** **paranormal.** **cosmology** and **noetic sciences** over a mug of sweet coffee (or amazin value Chardonnay!)
Chaired by me - a former Reuters journalist & published empirical researcher exploring spirituality topics in pursuant of the "truth" since a teenager, there'll be no strict structure - a relaxed friendly space to openly chat, exchange ideas & experiences without judgement, but I'll preside to promote inclusivity and zone in on specifics to avoid people digressing onto unrelated tangents to ensure like all of our events - particpants derive maximum utlity and engagement from attending.
We’ll touch on everything from the limits of scientific understanding to exploring the unexplained using practical fun exploratory divination practices drawing on elements of **psychology, metaphysics, epistemology** and **statistical** **probability** of rare events as we do so.
Whether you're a practicing "spiritualist", a curious skeptic, or just someone who loves deep conversation on **life’s big questions**, you’ll hopefully walk away more enlightened with some practical tips you can start applying and inspired to explore more!
As well as illuminating chats to guide self-reflection, obviously no sprituality event woul be complete without practical tools so there'll be FREE Tarot & I-Ching readings, demonstrations of meditation method to activate super powerful gamma brain waves, and pyschic tests for a bit of fun, laughter & intrigue!
**Sample of conversational threads** might include: Are we mere organisms pursuing biological survival or does consciousness exist beyond neurons firing in our brains? What explains peoples' paranormal experiences? What would reality look like If our brains were limitless? Declassified CIA files show that as as well as mind control experiments, the US govt employed mediums and remote viewers. If all mumbo jumbo then why? Is Nirvana just a fantasy of deluded people? Does everything happen for a reason?
To clarify - we define spirituality here as an exploration of consciousness, Donald Rumsfeld's unknown unknowns and undiscovered aspects of reality, NOT religion. After all, as my philosophy professor once rightly postulated to me: "If God created Adam, who created God Lucas?" Yep - that inconvenient flaw **debunks every fairytale religion** out there including the oldest religion of them all - paganism - so why is witchcraft still practised outside of **Hogwarts** today?
I may also share the latest peer reviewed empirical evidence surrounding **paranormal** and **consciousness** phenomena.
**=== POTENTIAL CONVERSATION STARTERS ===**
1. Does consciousness survive death or is Cambridge Astrophysics Professor Brian Cox right in asserting if **ghosts** existed then particle accelerators at CERN would have already detected ghost molecules making Ouija boards kids play? Are Poltergiests 100% hoax? Brain scans indicate thalamocortical circuits in our brain (pathways in the parietal cortex & central lateral thalamus) drive **consciousness -** so how can spirit/mind live on after **brain death**?
2. Is **synchronicity/coincidence** simply randomness disguised in the eye of the beholder or can what Einstein called “spooky action at a distance" (quantum entanglement) explain it? Molecular Biologists have shown that just like plants - our cells give off resonant frequencies between 10 & 180 kilohertz - could this be a source of non-verbal communication like telepathy?
3. Given **neuroscience**'s infancy with much yet undiscovered - could mediation help access functions outside of our BAU alpha & beta brain wave states? Can **Kundalini yoga** boost **DMT** (dimethyltryptamine) naturally vs drugs like ayahuasca, mushrooms, LSDand if so by what mechanism? Do the artifically created neural signatures using magnetic stimulation observed during mystical experiences debunk them? Is the Maharishi Effect real?
4. Are clairvoyants and mediums just good people readers or are they really able to access time and space in non-linear ways? Is Tyler Henry the real deal or just faking it? Was **Abraham Lincolm** precognizant when he dreamt his own fatal assignation?
5. The laws of statistical probability, Drake Equation & common sense tells us there is other non-microbial life out there. So what explains the Fermi Paradox? Was that 1976 WOW signal aliens? How about the recent strange bahaviour of Boyajian's star or Oumuamua/Atlas interstella object that has just entered our solar system?
6. Could metaverse explain deja vu & reincarnation vs theories from the **psychology** literature (Mandela Effect?) or do we just live in a **simulation** as **Elon Musk** proposes?
7. **Stephen Hawking** once said: "The past, like the future, is indefinite and exists only as a spectrum of possibilities" If matter only manifests when observed as the double slit experiments shows, does that mean everything is consciousness? Does the discovery of *quantum superposition /* disappearing neutrons imply **parallel universes**?
8. Do NDEs suggest something beyond physicality? Were Steve Jobs final words "Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow" before he died (New York Times) visions of an afterlife or just neurochemical changes / drugs playing tricks?
9. Can photons omitted by our bodies explain auras that people see?
10. Could limits in our understanding of quantum physics, space and time explain paranormal experiences?
11. What existed before the **big bang** \- how do you get something from "nothing"? I believe our reality is the product of a black hole\. What you reckon?
***So how do we get to the "truth"?***
Both in my journalism days and applying the most advanced empirical research techniques in my client consulting work - it becomes clear the truth is often elusive. No matter how much we triangulate evidence - we can only provide part answers. "All models are wrong, but some are useful" George Box
What we think we know and reality diverge leading to that great **paradox of knowledge.** And as the boundary between knowns and unknown converge, we end up with cognitive dissonance and more questions.
In that spirit - every credible philosopher & scientist acknowledges - we'll never get to the complete truth but could **experimental methods** get us closer to it? A balanced approach guided by Immanuel Kant's pragmatism and Aristotle's deductive reasoning seems the most rationale framework here but are there any other methodologies? How about the **"spirituality"** toolkit?
**=== RENDEZVOUS POINT ===**
We will meet inside the pub upstairs - located in Islington, 4 seconds walk from Highbury & Islington station or 12 mins from Angel station. l I'll be wearing a **Starwars identifier** and will share mobile hotline just before event start and table number/location. For stargazing we will walk to park 5 mins away around 7.30pm

Why Conservatism Always Fails
“Conservatism,” in some form or another, is a mainstay of politics in Western countries.
As a political philosophy, however, it is undefined, and the “conservatives” of today have very little in common with those of previous generations.
What do conservatives actually stand for? Why are conservatives so effective in opposition, and so incompetent in government? And is socialism the only alternative?
Join us for a discussion of Conservatism vs. Objectivism, an interview Ayn Rand gave at Columbia University more than 60 years ago — one that today’s conservatives would benefit greatly from hearing.

Kant’s Cave: Enlightened Self-Interest of Adam Smith - Sean O'Connor
ATTEND IN PERSON OR ON ZOOM
**NB** This event takes place on Tuesday as Monday is a public holiday in the UK
Enlightened Self-Interest - The Moral Philosophy of Adam Smith
On April 7, meet at Kant's Cave to listen to Sean O'Connor talking about the moral philosophy of Adam Smith. Smith is often portrayed as the philosopher of selfishness and free markets. But was he really? In fact, Smith was first and foremost a moral philosopher, deeply interested in sympathy, human motivation, and how people cooperate in society. Drawing on close observation of human behaviour, his work offers a far richer view of self-interest than the stereotype suggests. In this talk, Sean O’Connor will introduce Smith’s ideas and explores what they reveal about morality, self-interest, and human cooperation today.
Event video teaser: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Mfx-yPp-bD0
Sean O’Connor spent over twenty years as an advertising executive before becoming a serial entrepreneur, assembler of private equity projects, investor and corporate strategist. He has been the Chairman of a number of public and private companies and a director of many others. His acclaimed novel, *The Prisoner’s Dilemma,* was published in 2013 and his four-volume series, *The Secrets of Life: From Big Bang to Trump* appeared throughout 2023.
Every first Monday of the month (or Tuesday if Monday falls on a bank holiday in the UK), Philosophy For All invites its members and guests to attend Kant's Cave for a lecture, debate and social evening. This is a free event which takes place at 19:30 in the upstairs bar at the Two Chairmen, 39 Dartmouth Street, SW1H 9BP, London, but could also be joined online via Zoom.
Kant's Cave events are supported by The Royal Institute of Philosophy's Local Partners Programme. More about TRIP: https://royalinstitutephilosophy.org/

April in-person read: 'The Journalist and the Murderer' by Janet Malcolm
Dive into a meaningful **in-person discussion** at the Literature & Theology Reading Group's next meetup as we explore 'The Journalist and the Murderer' by Janet Malcolm.
The great long form journalist and essayist Janet Malcolm here turns her attention to the ethics of writing and journalism itself. She tells the story of Joe McGinniss: a journalist who documents the trial of an army doctor who claimed to have been wrongfully convicted for the murder of his wife.
**Each session is accompanied by a lecture** from Dr Aidan Cottrell-Boyce, exploring its spiritual and theological significance.
Please make sure you have **[sign up for this session](https://londonjesuitcentre.churchsuite.com/events/5oleyadc)** on our online portal. If you cannot attend in person, you can also [join us online](https://londonjesuitcentre.churchsuite.com/events/rtctcwnn) on 22nd April.
All are welcome to be a part of this vibrant community dedicated to exploring the intersection of faith and literature!
Sunday Assembly London Article Club #75
Here is a recap of how the Club works:
1\. We meet every six weeks or so in or near the National Theatre\.
2\. We vote in advance and pick two articles from a short list to read before we meet\. Usually one relates to politics/current affairs and the other to history\, culture or science\.
3\. We talk about each one for around half an hour and the beauty of Article Club is that we can think more deeply about the broader themes of a topic\, and how well the article gets to grips with them\.
4\. We each give a score out of 10 for the articles that have been discussed\.
5\. We set the date for the next Article Club and sometimes adjourn to the pub\.
I will post in the comments a Google form that you can use to vote for the articles you would like to read and discuss at this event.
The point of Article Club is to challenge ourselves to read a diverse range of articles, share them with like-minded people and deal with our anxiety that we aren't reading books. Article Club was set up by Ross Bailey in 2015 who did a fantastic job at running it. Ross was followed by the equally fantastic Claire Ferraro and I (Alistair Baker) have been in the chair for the past seven years.
OUR NEXT MEETUP: ARTICLE CLUB #75
Thursday 9th April 2026 - 7:30pm to around 9:15pm. We sit on the soft round seats in the Lyttelton Theatre bar on the first floor.
Maida Vale – beautiful buildings – and brothels
All are welcome on this walk which is presented by Central London Humanists. Humanists believe we have just one life to be lived rationally and well with compassion for others.
This event is a guided walk of +/-2 hours pointing out places of interest.
We will be walking 3 Km / 1.8 miles.
Maida Vale’s name is derived from Italy. However we will come across buildings relating to Wales, Indonesia, Spain and Portugal. Whilst Maida Vale is often overlooked, many famous people have made it their home because of its tree-lined avenues and attractive housing. Amongst other discoveries we’ll try to spot an eruv (no – I hadn’t heard this word before), a former roller skating palace visited by top music artists and a plaque to someone “who lived in a relatively modest way”.
**Date:** Saturday 11th April 2026
**Time:** 2 pm with a prompt departure at 2.15 pm.
**Place:** Meet outside Maida Vale underground station (Bakerloo Line). It is strongly suggested you find us using: [https://what3words.com/afford.gold.tell](https://what3words.com/afford.gold.tell) \- or the What3Words app\.
The nearest toilet is at Gail’s café opposite the underground station.
**Finishes:** About 4.15 pm near Maida Vale underground station or join us for refreshments at The Elgin, 255 Elgin Avenue W9 1NJ.
The walk is led by Robert – 07981963681. He can be contacted for further information but please note he won’t be able to respond to messages or calls after the walk has started.
**The formal bit:**
These walks are not suitable for dogs, sorry.
CLH events are 18+ unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
You are responsible for your own actions and safety; there is no liability on the walk leader or CLH for anything that may happen on the walk.
You must be able to keep up with the walk leader at 4 Km/h (2.5 mph) for 5 Km (3 miles). It is participants' responsibility to safely cross roads.
Where appropriate, pedestrian controlled lights will be obeyed unless it is obvious that the whole group can cross safely.
When the group stops at a point of interest, please be mindful not to block pavements so members of the public can pass by safely.
Don’t forget this is the UK and it may rain at any time! The walk will go ahead whatever the weather unless conditions are dangerous so please bring clothing for all seasons.
**A donation of £3 to Central London Humanists would be appreciated.**
The majority of Central London Humanists events are free, but we welcome a £3 contribution per head. This helps towards the running and organising of events, as well as various admin expenses. Humanist Program
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event.
We will be hearing from Becca Powell, Director of Advocacy and Outreach at Unchained At Last, an organization whose mission is dedication to ending forced and child marriage in the United States through direct services and systems change. Unchained At Last's mission clearly meshes and addresses several of our Humanist Ten Commitments. Becca will educate us about an issue many of us may not be familiar with--but should be.
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter
Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above.
There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change.
The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/).
Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes. The YMCA reserves the right to run background checks on volunteers.
For questions, comment on this page or contact: Andrew, awhit12@yahoo.com, (614)937-5802 (cell). Please let Andrew know if you volunteer anytime other than our COUNT events so that he can count your hours toward our service record.
Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup (2nd Tues)
Jimmy V's Grill & Pub in Grandview Heights. You are responsible for your own meal/drinks. We usually don't have any agenda other than eat, drink and talk. :) If the weather is nice we will be on the back patio, otherwise we are in the cigar room.
This group has been meeting every Tuesday evening for over a decade. Many attendees do not RSVP on meetup. Please don't let the small number here discourage you. Anyone/everyone is welcome to come. We'd love to have you join us.
COTA bus #5 comes to W. 5th and Wyandotte Rd. And it's a minute walk to the restaurant.

Did you know that there are atheists everywhere?!?! You may not know it, but we are! We're in your schools, diners, police force, military, government, and some are even still in your churches! So come and join us and meet other local atheists, along with agnostics, heathens, humanists, skeptics, and anyone else who's 'hell bound'!
Vision: a Central Ohio that accepts atheism as a viable alternative in all areas of public and private life.
Mission: grow, support, and provide community for atheists in Central Ohio.
Social meetings held most Tuesdays at a local pub/restaurant at 7:00 PM (and often into the wee hours). Attendees call themselves agnostics, skeptics, humanists, non-theists, deists or even theists. All attendees are welcome but should support our vision.
Atheists of Columbus (AoC) is part of Omnipresent Atheists (OA). AoC members are invited to join this OA meetup and/or OA Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/omnipresentatheists/ ) but are free to continue conversations on the AoC Facebook group ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/columbusatheists/ ). AoC was founded in 2012 as a networking, social group for Central Ohio area humanists, skeptics, atheists, agnostics, nonbelievers, freethinkers, and the curious. It was a member of Columbus CoR and held weekly meetings, mostly on Fridays, for several years but then operated as an online only group for some time. In November 2018, Omnipresent Atheists (OA), a group that routinely meets on Tuesdays, invited AoC to merge.
Omnipresent Atheists is a member of the Columbus Coalition of Reason (ColumbusCoR.org). Omnipresent Atheists is a member of the Columbus Coalition of Reason ( http://www.ColumbusCoR.org ).
