Open Mic Storytelling Night - Theme "Into the Storm" (7pm)
Vienna Storytelling Collective's hugely popular **OPEN MIC STORYTELLING** nights continue on **Thursday 18th June 2026 at 19.00h** in Café Korb, with the audience-chosen theme "Into the Storm"
At our OPEN MIC STORYTELLING NIGHT performances range from stories, songs, poetry and stand up from aspiring writers, plus we always have a selection of experienced and/or established professional writer/performers to close the first and second halves of the evening for us. Vienna Storytelling Collective’s Open Mic event is one-of-a-kind for Vienna, an English language event where creative minds come together to share captivating stories.
Whether you are an author, poet, writer, or just someone who loves storytelling, this evening is the perfect place to share your work or simply be inspired by others. Our open mic sessions provide an opportunity to perform your short stories, poems, share your songs (piano available) , or even try your hand at stand-up comedy or spoken word performances. It's a great way for newcomers to the city to meet like-minded individuals in the performing arts and fiction writing scene. It’s a gripping, fun and varied storytelling experience as audience or performer.
Please read the **"What We're About"** section for full details of what to do if you'd like to read or perform your work at our Open Mic sessions. To guarantee a spot - direct message us in advance.
Looking forward to seeing you all for another wonderfully entertaining evening of stories and much more. All our evenings since Sept. 2021 have been full ..... so come early. WE ASK FOR A MINIMUM 5 EURO DONATION, TO HELP WITH RUNNING COSTS.

You just haven’t been able to follow through. You start things, lose momentum and find yourself starting over again. You’re not alone.
Most people get support at the beginning. And applause at the end. But the part that actually matters? The middle. The quiet, repetitive, sometimes frustrating part where nothing feels exciting, and everything depends on showing up. **That’s where we are.**
At NoCrastination, we don’t meet for hype. We meet to **show up and finish something, together.** Not perfectly. Not magically. Just consistently.
**What this really is**
This is a space for people who are:
* building something
* figuring things out
* or simply trying to stay on track
**without doing it alone**
You don’t need to be an entrepreneur. You just need something you want to move forward.
**What happens here**
You bring something you’ve been putting off. We sit down together. We focus. And you leave with something done. That’s it. And that’s everything.
**Why people keep coming back**
* “I finally follow through on what I plan”
* “I leave with real progress every time”
**Time and Location**
🕐 **Time:** 9:30 AM – 12:30 NOON
💻 **Bring:** Your laptop, journal, or anything you’ve been avoiding
**Hosted by**: NoCrastination. See you across from the ground floor bar ✨ you will see us sitting at the long table with our laptops
☕ Please do order something from the local host, so as to keep us in their good graces!
**Please arrive on time or during the break windows to avoid interrupting the focus sessions** 😊
**Focus schedule:**
9:30 AM – 10:20 AM → Focus Block 1
10:35 AM – 11:20 AM → Focus Block 2
11:35 AM – 12:25 PM → Focus Block 3
**If you expect to arrive late, please come during one of these break windows:**
10:20 AM – 10:35 AM
11:20 AM – 11:35 AM
12:25 PM – 1:00 PM for Lunch + Pitch
Simple structure. Real progress.
**This is for you if:**
* You keep starting but don’t finish
* You feel stuck working alone
* You want structure — without pressure
* You want to express yourself AND move forward
**What you’ll get**
Not motivation. Not a productivity hack.
**You’ll get: ONE THING DONE.**
And then you come back, and do it again.
**This is how it starts**
You don’t need to commit to anything big. Just come once. Pick one thing.
Finish it. We’ll be there. As we’re growing and improving the experience, we’re moving to a more structured system. Registration is part of participating.

Also, bring clean indoor sports shoes, your racket and a water bottle with you.

Shut Up & Write!® Thursdays @Café Pierre
Join us for a writing session! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 18:00 on Thursdays at Café Pierre.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
SCHEDULE:
18:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros.
18:15- timer starts
20:00 - (the end) chat / take off / keep writing / discussion group meeting.
Café Pierre closes at 24:00
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens when we're finished and before the writing session starts. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and join us!
Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you at Café Pierre!
What Should I Bring?
Whatever you need to be able to write!
Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.
Other Important Details:
INTERNET: There is WLAN in the café. The staff will tell you the password if you ask them, or just ask me.
TRAVEL / PARKING: U3 Neubaugasse, U4 Kettenbrückengasse. If you drive there, remember that Kurzparkzone applies.
SEATING INFORMATION: plenty of seats available. It's the big oval table inside, but if the weather is nice in the summertime, we may be found outside.
GUIDELINES: Please thank our hosts by purchasing something.
Other information: There is no registration process for this meetup. Just click on the meetup you want to attend and then click on the red button "Teilnehmen" or "attend". If that doesn't work, you can attend the writing session anyway.
CX Afterhours #001 — Vienna
CX Afterhours is a new, intimate gathering for customer experience practitioners in Vienna — no panels, no pitches, no name-tags doing the talking for you. Just CX people from across industries in one room, comparing how they tackle the same customer challenges from very different angles.
For our first edition, we're joined by **Barbara Böck, Head of CX at Wüstenrot**, with a talk on:
**"From Criticism to Competitive Advantage: How authentic customer insights and critical voices become a central lever for data-driven growth."**
We measure experience more than ever and arguably understand it less. Barbara makes the case that the customer who complains is the one who still cares — and that the feedback nobody wants to hear can be your strongest, most honest growth signal, if you know what to do with it.
After the talk: open conversation, drinks, and the kind of exchange that's hard to find when you're the only "CX person" on your team. Expect a small, deliberately cross-industry group — banking, insurance, retail, and beyond.
Arrive b 6:30pm

Codex Community Build Meetup
Hello everyone!
We're excited to announce **Vienna's first official** **Codex Community Build Meetup**, co-hosted with **Vienna AI Engineering** on Saturday, June 20!
It's a full-day, hands-on event for learning to build with Codex (OpenAI's coding agent) and with AI agents in general. This isn't a lecture: bring your laptop, pick the track that fits your level, and spend the day building alongside mentors and Codex experts. Come with an idea or just show up ready to learn. The goal is to leave with something you made, a clearer sense of how AI agents fit into real software work, and new people in Vienna's builder community.
Whether you're already using Codex or simply curious about coding agents, this is your chance to connect with peers and see how AI is transforming the way we build software.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
⚠️ IMPORTANT: [Register on Luma](https://luma.com/9dmqcdn0), not here!
To avoid double-bookings, RSVPs on Meetup are limited to the Organizer Team only. The 170 spots are all on Luma, and that's the only place to sign up.
👉 Register here: [https://luma.com/9dmqcdn0](https://luma.com/9dmqcdn0)
Check-in at the door uses the Luma guest list, so please make sure you're registered there.
When you register, you'll pick the track that fits you best:
🟢 AI Beginner: a guided path from first setup to a small working project
🟡 AI Intermediate: practical Codex workflows for prototyping, testing, and shipping faster
🔴 AI Advanced: bring your own project and push a more ambitious build
Each group has a suggested track and mentors on hand throughout the day.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
💡 Why Luma? Some of our partners, like OpenAI, use Luma to coordinate events worldwide, so we use it for branded events like this one. To hear about future events first, subscribe to our Luma calendar: [https://luma.com/vienna-ai-engineering](https://luma.com/vienna-ai-engineering)

Run+B-fast
Hi Running fellows,
Whether you’re a walker, new to running, a semi-pro, a marathonist or a sprint star - if you want to start your weekend in an active way and enjoy the outdoors in lovely surroundings with a fun, international and multilingual group of people, you are welcome to join us!
Every Saturday at 9:30 am, we meet, we run, in the magnificent Schönbrunn park, and then we go for breakfast.
Want to discuss politics or the best recipes for banana pancakes? Not a problem. Not feeling social? Tune out with your earbuds - we can talk over breakfast. We are casual. You can be too.
What to expect: Start by meeting Adrian, Ali, Liz, Paul and Sonia on-time at 9:30am outside the Schönbrunn U-Bahn stop (exit Grünbergstraße). (Coordinates: 48.1858130, 16.3200640) From there, we walk to the side park entrance where the “running” part begins. The important thing is that you run at your own pace. Typically, small groups of people will run at the same pace as you, so you never have to walk/run alone :)
We finish one hour later, at about 10:40am, reconvening just inside the Hietzinger Tor exit. (Coordinates: 48.1858825, 16.3032647). From there, we’re off to breakfast!
Breakfast Details: Anker bakery opposite the U4 Hietzing station and depending on the weather, grab something for a picnic in Schönbrunn park, or hang out in the bakery. If you missed us earlier, you can always go there around 10:45.
We are a fun group of runners who don’t take things too seriously. We meet, chat, RUN, stretch, chat, EAT and we hang out over a beer every now and then. It's that easy. Please join us for breakfast after the run! The more the merrier.
Typically we are 10-30 people, as not everyone who comes signs up on meetup.
Important disclaimer: Please only run as much as you feel you can, considering the temperature, weather conditions, your own fitness etc... run and walk at your own pace as the organizers do not assume any liability for any injuries or health issues. Sonia, Adrian, Ali, Paul and Liz

Feeling down? Sometimes depressed? Can't focus? Negativity & stress? Recent losses? Creativity in career and personal life hindered by mental blocks? Sometimes we never fully recover from traumatic experiences.
Whether it was yesterday, last week or a year ago, traumatic experiences - a loss of a loved one, losing a job, a breakup - can leave you scarred. You talk about it and feel a little better, but it never goes away. After you hang up the phone, it's still there; the sadness, the cloud, the over-thinking, the worry, the guilt. You try to focus, but you're blocked. You try to look forward into new experiences, new relationships but a cloud is hanging over you, casting a shadow on what you once considered a bright, cheerful future.
What happened to your courage? Your strength of character? You're 'why not' attitude? Whoever said 'time heals' must have had a special time machine, because after weeks, months, years, you're wondering - when exactly does that kick in? Sometimes it seems like drinking or drugs are the way to go. But they wear off, and now the problem is still there with added side effects from the drugs.
At this free local Meetup event we will talk about:
* What causes grief, anxiety and depression to become chronic.
* Is it possible to regain your joy and happiness even after traumatic experiences?
* How to break away from negativity and focus on the future
* What are the steps to take to get control of your mind and your emotions?
Learn about a safe, gentle, do-it-yourself counseling that can be done in the comfort of your own home.
Let's explore safe, effective solutions for healing from traumatic experiences.

**Abstract**
*Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code*
Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs.
In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling.
The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options.
