The State of Airflow 2026: London Airflow Meetup!
**Join fellow Airflow enthusiasts and leaders at Salisbury House for an evening of engaging talks, great food and drinks, and exclusive swag!**
**We'll start you off with a deep dive into the Airflow 2026 survey results, and finish off with a community member presentation on the Apache TinkerPop provider.**
**PRESENTATIONS**
***Talk #1: The State of Apache AirflowÂŽ 2026***
* **Speaker**: [Ash Berlin-Taylor](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ashberlin-taylor/), Director of Airflow Engineering at [Astronomer](https://www.astronomer.io/) & Apache Airflow PMC Member
Apache AirflowÂŽ continues to thrive as the worldâs leading open-source data orchestration platform, with 30M downloads per month and over 3k contributors. 2025 marked a major milestone with the release of Airflow 3, which introduced DAG versioning, enhanced security and task isolation, assets, and more. These changes have reshaped how data teams build, operate, and govern their pipelines.
In this session, our speaker will share insights from the State of Airflow 2026 report, including:
* Latest trends in how teams are using Airflow today
* Whatâs next for the project and ecosystem
* A discussion of emerging best practices and evolving use cases
Join us to hear directly from a leader in the community and discover how to get the most out of Airflow in the year ahead.
***Talk #2: Building the Apache TinkerPop Provider for Airflow***
* **Speaker**: [Ahmad Farhan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/atfarhan/), Data Engineer
Graph databases are powering everything from recommendation engines to fraud detection, but integrating graph operations into modern data pipelines has often required custom code and workarounds. Earlier this year, Ahmad built a new Apache TinkerPop provider for Airflow, making it easier than ever to orchestrate Gremlin queries, manage graph workloads, and connect Airflow to TinkerPop-enabled systems.
In this session, youâll learn:
* What the TinkerPop provider does and why it matters for graph-based workloads
* How to run Gremlin queries and manage graph jobs directly within Airflow
* Real examples from the development process, including design decisions and lessons learned
* How this provider opens the door for new use cases in graph analytics and data engineering
Join us to explore how Airflow and TinkerPop can work together to streamline graph workflows and unlock new patterns in modern data pipelines.
**AGENDA**
* **5:30-6 PM:** Arrivals, networking, food & drinks
* **6-7:05PM:** Presentations
* **7:05-8PM:** Networking

FURNITURE RESTORATION â EVENINGS â BRING A PROJECT
**Bookable via our website:** [https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/furniture-restoration-evenings-bring-a-project-50/](https://www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk/events/furniture-restoration-evenings-bring-a-project-50/)
**âââ**
A wonderful entry into the enchanting world of restoration. This is a project based course and we encourage learners to bring a small wood item to the first class.
You can bring a 60s book-rack, a small occasional table, a simple chair or a shabby wood box. These objects can be wobbly, scratched or dented, and maybe a few bits missing- they can date from 19th to mid 20th century.
Work on your own piece while learning the skills you need along the way.
We will show you how to fix the wobbles and make joint repairs and how to repair lost or flaky veneers. You will also have an introduction to wood finishes from modern stains, varnishes and waxes to classic French polishing.
This is a great way to get stuck into the practice of restoration. We will guide you through the process of assessing a potential project, learning about its construction and how to bring a sad relic back to shining glory.
Please email [info@thegoodlifecentre.co.uk](mailto:info@thegoodlifecentre.co.uk) if you have a photo of a project you would like to discuss.
Some materials will not be kept in stock. Approved projects can be stored at the centre. We cannot offer additional time to work on your project outside of workshop times.
INTRO TO WOODWORK â MAKE A CUPBOARD

**Suitable for:** Absolute beginners. No prior experience in woodworking or woodcarving is required for this course.

If you hanker after a really useful item to take home with you, this versatile cabinet is an amazing piece of joinery to learn how to make. Made from seasoned pine, this classic project will teach you how to make an accurate wood frame, with a hinged, paneled door. The completed cabinet is 435mmH x 300mmW x 140mmD.
You will have the opportunity of learning classic joints, such as a mortice and tenon and dovetails, as you build your skills week by week. You will use measuring and marking tools, hand tools, including chisels, smoothing, plough and rebate planes.
Over 6 or 12 weeks, we will cover many aspects of traditional joinery tuition. This content rich class will suit everybody who wants to learn a lot in a short time.
Len Conway, a very experienced craftsperson and tutor will explain each part of the process and instil lifelong good habits as well as tips for improving accuracy if you have some woodwork experience.

**KEY PROJECT: TRADITIONALLY STITCHED AND SEWN EDGED FOOTSTOOL**
*All of our upholstery classes are for absolute beginners. It doesnât matter which one you choose to take first. Each technique that is offered is part of all the processes that every upholsterer has to learn.*
6-week workshop. Thursday nights. 6:30pm â 9pm.
A perfect course for a beginner. Jumpstart your knowledge of traditional upholstery skills and methods.
Over six Thursday evenings, experienced upholsterers will guide you through the wonderful world of upholstery and help you build a fabulous footstool using traditional methods. You can leave your project at the centre in between classes.
Before the advent of foam in the middle of the twentieth century, the only way to make wooden seats more comfortable was to build up layers using available materials. Our small fabric footstool (above) is built from layers of woven webbing, hessian, vegetable fibre, animal hair and calico and is sewn with specialist needles and stitches. Although this method is more labour-intensive than the modern method of using foam, it is much longer lasting and preferred in more expensive pieces of furniture. This is the method used in many traditional chair seats, so once learned, you can apply this method to your own projects.
We provide everything for the workshop, from the wood frame to the set of natural beech wood legs that are included for you to paint or stain as you wish. Choose from our selection of top fabrics, or bring your own. You will need about a metre of fabric and you will not need it until the final class. The use of all tools and materials is included. We also have a selection of specialist upholstery tools and all the materials that we use in our workshops for sale at the Goodlife Centre for you to continue your new hobby at home.
Beginners welcome.

Revamp your tired woodwork. Get the Ra Ra back into your furniture â jazz up those car boot finds and old junk.
Many of us own items that wouldnât star on âAntiques Roadshowâ but are pieces that would benefit from a gentle sprucing up. In this one-day starter class, our tutor will walk you through how to tackle those forlorn but beloved pieces of less valuable furniture that need some tender loving care.
You will learn how to apply a solution to a problem piece-whether itâs a white ring left by a cup or a scratch in the varnish and have hands-on practice of removing varnish and refinishing woodwork. You will also explore the world of glues and clamps to learn about tackling a wobbly chair and re-attaching loose trims and veneers.
Please bring your own piece to work on. Lots of charity shops sell old boxes and shabby cabinets. You can pick up a bargain on eBay. We have easy step-free access to the centre and you can find a place to park fairly easily nearby. It may not be possible to finish your own work, but if it's a wobbly chair we can show you how to re-glue it back together and the tutor can help you identify what needs to be done.
We donât cover furniture painting on this day course.
The use of all tools and basic materials is included. Beginners welcome.

**Band: Trillium**
**Big Scioty Contra Dance**
**temporarily returning to our long ago location for Jan-March - First Congregational Church, 444 E. Broad St., Columbus 43215**
WHAT IS CONTRA DANCING? Picture the Grand Ball scenes like youâve seen in period films such as âPride and Prejudiceâ, where the dancers are lined up in long lines, across from each other. Thatâs English Country Dancing, the predecessor of contra dancing. Now, add moves like âswing your partnerâ and âdo-si-do,â like youâve seen in square dancing. Set it to fabulous, high energy, live music with fiddles, guitars, percussion and more, alĂĄ âRiverdance.â Finally, set the whole scene down in the middle of Woodstock, with a hip, groovy atmosphere, a bit of tie-dye, and hints of counter-culture attitude. THATâs Contra Dancing!
Wear cool and comfortable clothes (you will get warm) and clean shoes that won't mark up our nice wood floor.
Be sure to come for the beginner's lesson from 7:30 - 8:00, followed by dancing 8:00 - 10:30. All dances are taught; we will help you learn! Beginners always welcome, no need to bring a partner.
