"After Work Flow" is a creative space where you can find peace, leave everyday life behind, and fully embrace the moment. No prior experience is necessary – just the desire to try something new and engage with color and movement. On a 30 x 30 cm canvas, you'll discover the freedom of abstract painting. There's no right or wrong, no perfect or imperfect – only your personal expression. You'll learn how colors interact, how they mix, overlap, and create new moods. It's not just about the result, but above all about the process: feeling, observing, and letting go. A special focus is placed on getting to know colors intuitively. You'll be surprised how individual hues change when combined and how much emotion can be contained in a single area of ​​color. Step by step, you'll develop your own abstract painting and learn to let go of preconceived notions. Brushstrokes also play a crucial role. You'll discover different ways to apply paint – calmly, boldly, softly, or with texture. Each brushstroke becomes a movement that lends depth and character to your painting. You can expect many ups and downs around Baden, followed by an optional On-In at the Fortyseven bath/sauna area where we can truly stress our drunk bodies in even more heat! Bag drop will be provided, so bring your towel, swimming trunks and desire to melt your skin away! **Where**: Bahnhofstrasse 31 5400 Baden AG Direction to the station At the station, take the central underpass and head towards Baden Zentrum (east side). At the end of the underpass (in the underground concourse) turn left and walk past the station ticket counters. Leave the concourse between LIDL and the Ledergerber clothing store and head towards the bus station. At the last bus platform, make for the circular ramp and descend it to the parking bays on level -1. The Mobility location occupies bays 20 to 23 and 40 to 45. Look for English speakers wearing running gear. **When:** We'll meet at 6:50 pm to start at 7:00 pm except on Saturday or Sundays when it is usually 2:00pm. There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards. **All Welcome:** If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know: • We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful. • The aim is to find the '*Beer Stop*' at the end of the '*trail*' and have fun. • 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further. • The '*Hare*', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time. • There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change. • **After Trail**, we group for \~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This '*Circle*' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards. **Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?** If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it. 'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (*Hashes*) in most major cities. Welcome to Drunken Philosophy, a casual, curious, social discussion club. Come grab a drink and a seat at The Oracle. **Optional topic for this meetup: Where is everybody?** In 1950 the physicist Enrico Fermi was talking about aliens over lunch and asked a question that still has not gone away: if the universe is so vast and so old, and even a fraction of those billions of stars have planets, where is everyone? By the numbers the galaxy should be crowded with civilizations. Instead we look up and hear silence. That gap between "they should be everywhere" and "we see no one" is the Fermi Paradox. One of the most unsettling answers is the idea of a **Great Filter**: somewhere on the road from dead chemistry to a galaxy-spanning civilization, there is at least one step that is almost impossible to get past. Maybe the filter is behind us. Maybe life starting at all, or simple cells becoming complex, or intelligence ever evolving, is the freak accident, and we already cleared the hard part. Or maybe the filter is ahead of us, and advanced civilizations reliably wipe themselves out before they spread. Here is the part that messes with people. If we ever found life somewhere else, even pond scum on Mars, most people would call it the greatest discovery in history. But it might be the worst possible news. It would mean life is common, the early steps are easy, and the hard step is still in front of us. So the eerie silence overhead might actually be the best sign we could ask for. **Questions to wrestle with:** * Is it better to be alone? Would you rather we find alien life and learn we are not special, or find nothing and quietly improve our odds of surviving? * Where do you bet the filter sits, behind us or ahead of us, and why? * If it is ahead of us, what is it? Nuclear war, climate collapse, AI, something we cannot even picture yet? And can we do anything about a filter we cannot see coming? * Two principles pull opposite ways here. The principle of mediocrity (the Copernican principle, Sagan's "no privileged place in the universe") says we are ordinary, so what happened on Earth probably happened everywhere, which makes the silence scream louder. The anthropic principle says of course we find ourselves somewhere life was possible, since we could not observe anything else, so our being here may say almost nothing about how common life is. Which lens do you trust, and does the silence still demand an answer once you account for observer selection? * And if we did confirm life out there and had to accept we are not special, what would that do to belief in a higher power, and would shedding (or keeping) that belief help or hurt our odds of pulling together as one species? * Does any of this change how you live, or how humanity should be spending its time and money right now?
