But what funding opportunities actually exist? And why does film financing seem so complex to many filmmakers? **What to expect:** In this free workshop, Indiefilmtalks Yugen Yah will give a short introduction to the landscape of film financing and public funding. We will look at different funding models, explain why factors such as regional funding requirements, reference funding, and bureaucratic processes play such an important role, and discuss the typical hurdles filmmakers face when submitting projects. Create a hand stitched landscape/cityscape that expresses the essence of a special-to-you place. Julie will guide you through the process of designing an abstracted version of your special place based on personal photos that you bring to class. Along the way, you’ll learn Julie’s approach to layered fabric collage, choosing interesting hand stitches to fill in the spaces of your scape (including needle lace and ruching), free style bead embroidery and attaching place-related natural objects using thread nets. Julie will also demo some finishing techniques. (This class is suitable for all levels, though some experience with hand-stitching is helpful.)
