Argentine tango has nothing to do with the tango you've seen on TV. No dramatic dips. No fixed choreography to memorise. No performance. Real tango is a conversation. Two people, close together, listening to each other through embrace, weight and breath. The leader proposes. The follower responds. The dance emerges from that - improvised, alive, completely in the present moment. It is one of the most direct ways I know to practice both body and mind. In this introductory evening, you'll learn the basic structure of the embrace and a few simple steps. More importantly, you'll begin to feel what tango is actually about: connection. To your own body first, then to another person. You don't need a partner. You don't need dance experience. You need comfortable shoes with a smooth sole and an open mind. I've been dancing tango for years, and I come to it from the same place I come to everything else I teach: the body knows things the mind doesn't. Tango is one of the ways we learn to trust that. Partners are rotated during class so you practice with everyone. For 2026, we are starting our third year meeting every second Tuesday to mingle and get some ideas rolling.
