Casual Gaming @ Quincy’s 🎮
Let’s hang out & play games in Arlington!
I’m going to double check, but last I looked the switch available at Quincy’s has Mario Party on it so we can play that.
If you have physical games you want to play as a group, bring them along and we can play on Quincy’s switch. If you want to bring your own console and just play around other people who are playing feel free to do that too. I might bring mine or my Lite, tbd.
If anyone is playing Z-A, bring your switch and maybe we can battle (I would say trade, but I have nothing trade-worthy yet)…
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Come Play: Tigris and Euphrates!
**Tigris & Euphrates** is a seminal tile-placement and strategy game set in the ancient fertile crescent, often hailed as the masterpiece of designer Reiner Knizia. Players guide rival dynasties to establish and expand their kingdoms across Mesopotamia.
The game is unique for its scoring mechanism: you must balance progress in four different spheres—**Settlements (Black), Trade (Blue), Farming (Green), and Religion (Red)**—because your final score is only the *lowest* score among these four categories.
You place tiles to build up these four aspects, create powerful leaders, and connect them to monuments. However, conflict is inevitable. Whenever two different kingdoms attempt to link up, a **"Revolt"** (leader-less conflict) or **"War"** (leader-led conflict) erupts, with the winners absorbing the tiles and power of the losers. The constant tension between internal growth and external conflict is the core of the game.
***
✅ You will enjoy this if:
* You love games with a **"Knizia-style" scoring twist** (scoring your minimum category) that forces you to constantly address your weakest link.
* You enjoy games with **pure strategy and near-zero luck**, where every decision about tile placement and conflict resolution is critical.
* You appreciate a game where **control is often fleeting** and a powerful kingdom can be broken apart by a well-timed invasion.
* You like classic, **high-tension abstracts** that are easy to learn but offer immense depth and replayability.
We currently have two copies of the game, but please, if you have a copy, and you'd like to come, let us know, and we'll add a third game.
And folks, if you're new to the hobby, or even if you haven't yet dipped your toes in the water, this game is a must play classic, with very simple rules. We hope you'll join us!

**Yarns of Darkness: A World of Darkness One-Shot Series**
In the quiet corners of a Frederick community center, something unusual is happening. Vampires, Werewolves, and Hunters — longtime enemies in the shadows — are setting aside their ancient rivalries for something... unexpected: a shared love of crafting. Bound by threads instead of blood, these supernatural beings come together under the guise of a weekly yarn circle. But behind every skein and stitch lies a tangled web of secrets, alliances, and dangerous powers. Join us in this **World of Darkness 5th Edition crossover one-shot series**, where crafting isn't just a hobby — it's a cover, a conduit, and a calling. Whether you’re a monster, a hunter, or something in between, everyone’s welcome at the circle — just don’t pull the wrong thread.

The Castles of Burgundy
We will be playing two games of **The Castles of Burgundy Special Edition** with up to 3 players each. All experience levels welcome. Expect the game teach to start promptly within the first 10 minutes.
In The Castles of Burgundy each player takes on the role of an aristocrat. They aim to build settlements and powerful castles, practice trade along the river, exploit silver mines, and use the knowledge of travelers. The game is about players taking settlement tiles from the game board and placing them into their princedom, which is represented by the player board. At the beginning of each round, all players roll their two dice and use the die results to take actions on their turn. The game ends when the last player finishes their turn of the fifth round of the fifth phase. The player with the most victory points wins.

Note: Please remember to update your RSVP if you can not attend the event. By updating your RSVP when you can't make it other players on the waitlist will have a chance to attend. No-shows may make it harder to attend future meetups. Also, all library rules apply to this meetup event. Mainly that no food is allowed in the library. Covered drinks are allowed.
Board Games @ Silver Spring Library
Grab a game or bring your own, this event is open play. Whether it is chucking dice, full of traitors, laying tiles, or only cards involved, it doesn't matter; as long as it is a fun game, let's get it to the table and play it.
The library will have games available to play but as always, you are welcome and encouraged to bring your own games. So leave a comment about what you are bringing! But be ready to teach your games.
The library is located within walking distance of the Silver Spring Metro stop and there is a parking garage across the street.

December Grand Gaming Melee
Once again it’s that time of year when we put on our best gaming apparel and meet for one last Grand Gaming Melee with our old games before we open all the packages that we hope contain new games on Christmas Day. In the ancient AARGGH tradition, there will be board games, card games, dice games, tile games, and just about every other kind of game that can be played on a tabletop. Bring some of your all-time favorites, some that you play once in a while for a change of pace, or even some that have been gathering dust in the back of your closet. If none of these options appeal to you, come without games and play some that others will bring; there’s always a wide variety available. If you see a new one you want to try, there will be plenty of people eager to teach you.
It’s also the time of year when we bring our best snacks and beverages. And by best, we mean foods other than fruitcake, which has been prohibited since the Great Fruitcake Fiasco of 2015. You are encouraged in the spirit of gaming conviviality to bring something delicious to share. Cookies, crackers, and pretzels are popular options, as are sodas and juices. Some people bring doughnuts, cupcakes, or other substantial sweets; these are always appreciated and disappear quickly. Healthy snacks of vegetables and fruit are welcomed by people who like to snack on vegetables and fruit, and the people who like them are often the same people who bring them.
Official start time is 10:30am. You can come and go at any time, but your host appreciates anyone who arrives as early as 10:00am (the library’s opening time) to help with setup. Many hands make light work! Cleanup begins around 4:00pm (or whenever you decide that you can’t squeeze in one more game before the end of the event). Remember, whoever starts cleanup first gets the best choice of leftover snacks to take home!
As always, leave the room clean and tidy. **Please observe these rules regarding cleanup at Beatley library:**
* Please ensure that food scraps, crumbs, and bits of packaging are not strewn in the kitchen or auditorium. The library closes shortly after our event ends, so anything edible left on the floor or counters will attract vermin overnight. Night vermin are the worst!
* Please fold most of the tables and stack them under the coat rack – a few may remain where they were used – but **DO NOT FOLD THE CHAIRS**. Leave them out in any configuration that lets people walk around them easily. Many chairs are needed for programs the following day, so by folding them you only make more work for the organizers. On the other hand, more than a few tables left standing only impede the next day’s activities.
