I’ll be bringing **colouring pages and markers** for anyone who just wants to show up and relax. You're also totally welcome to bring whatever creative activity helps *you* unwind — think **sketchpads, mini canvases and paint, journals, clay sculpting, wire bending, model building kits, and collage supplies**.
We’ll hang out, make art, and enjoy chill conversations in a cozy, no-pressure environment. No experience or talent required — just bring yourself and whatever helps you feel creative and calm.
**✦ What to Bring (optional):**
* Any relaxing art or activity you enjoy
**✦ I’ll provide:**
* Colouring pages, markers, and good vibes
**Where to Meet (MADO Cafe at the Food Hall inside The Well):**
* The easiest way to get to the venue is to make your way to La Plume restaurant or The Dorset restaurant and turn towards the statue then take the stairs to the lower level.
* Shoppers will be on the right and across from Shoppers will be an entrance to The Well's food court.
* Make a left and you should see the long tables and MADO cafe.
* **We'll meet at the long tables in front of MADO Cafe**
Come solo or bring a friend — this is all about slowing down, making connections, and enjoying a creative evening together ✨
Mob Programming at Mofer Coffee
Let’s do some coding together at a cafe! No more working alone in the weekend. Here, we write code together. And I mean together together. Not occupying-the-same-space-but-separate together.
Here’s how it works: Jennifer brings her mobile app project, tells everyone that it is like Pinterest for recipes and she’d like to work on the nav bar. Paul and Chloe think Jennifer's project is fascinating, and they join the group. They gather around Jennifer’s laptop and work on the nav bar for 2 hours. Jennifer is the one typing out the code while Paul and Chloe research, brainstorm, and offer suggestions.
If you’re feeling stuck on your own project or need a motivation boost, bring it to mob programming!
Want to learn by watching how others code and solve problems? Join someone else’s project at this event!
Oh and we love your half-done projects that you are a bit embarrassed to share. Absolutely bring those to the event!
**Discord**:
We use Discord to share screen & code snippets during the event. Also feel free to share your projects here before the event!
https://discord.gg/Da9fZFxPfs
**Event policy**:
* We have 0 tolerance for harassment.
* We don’t allow the projects that are not meant to be shared in public such as school assignments, interview tasks, or trade secrets.
* The goal is to write code. We discourage you from pitching business ideas here, doing code reviews, or spending the whole event on planning what to do.
* Please buy a drink, and tip the barista well.

Drumming Circle & Uplifting Discussion 🪘✨🌍
**NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
**About Drum & Soul**
The only intention behind Drum & Soul is to help create vibrant, healthier, and more united communities – together. We believe art is the best channel for that purpose. This is more than a drumming circle. It is a practical space where we do two things at once: we develop useful skills and cultivate inner qualities, and we help others grow those same qualities. Through rhythms from many cultures, collective singing and meaningful conversation around a focused theme, we practise skills that strengthen both the individual and the community.
**Why come**
If you want to expand your expressive capacity, practise listening with depth, learning to lead or join others who take community wellbeing to heart, Drum & Soul is for you. This is a place to try courageously, to learn deeply, and to contribute authentically. Everyone is welcome regardless of background or musical experience. If you feel shy in groups, that is completely natural and we got you. A few of us will gently hover around newcomers like butterflies, offering a warm welcome and quiet space so nobody feels out of place. Many people tell us they arrived nervous but soon felt as if they had stepped into a family home.
**How it works**
At the start of each session we centre with a short breathing exercise, followed by a demonstration of simple rhythms, then break into small groups for guided conversation. Finally we move into collective jamming and improvisation. We finish by socializing and sharing a potluck meal and continuing our conversation and connection as a human family.
**Typical meeting flow**
1. 🫱🏽🫲🏻 Arrival & social time – 20 min
2. 🙋🏻♀️ Welcome, check in and centring – 10 min
3. 🪘 Call & Respond **Drumming & demo** – 10 min
4. 💬 Facilitated **Discussion** on the Theme (groups of three) – 20 min
5. ☕ Potluck **dinner** – 40 min
6. 🕺🏽 Open **Jamming** with multiple instruments – 20 min
7. 🦋 **Tear down** and social time afterwards ...
*This outline is flexible and may shift to suit the group and the space.*
**Logistics and what to bring**
We meet in a large beautiful space. Drums are available on a first come first served basis. We also provide plenty of small percussion instruments so every hand can play. You are welcome to bring your own drum or instrument. After our time of drumming and dialogue, we share a simple potluck dinner, an extension of our circle where conversation continue to flourish over nourishing food. Feel free to bring whatever you love to share.
**Cost and contributions**
This is a free event. As a community we are encouraged to contribute even a small snack to share with everyone, or pay what or if you can, to cover the costs of refreshments and material, by E-transfer to: **hooshmandnyc@gmail.com** – Contributions are optional.
**Helpful notes**
No prep needed. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Please arrive by then so we can start at 4:00 p.m. sharp and keep the flow. Location and any last minute updates are posted on Meetup and in our WhatsApp group. We recommend joining the WhatsApp group (ask us for the link) for quick notices.
**Why this matters**
In a world aching for healing, we believe our sacred mission is to nurture one another, define our roles in service to our fellow humans, and become living temples of unity. Growth unfolds through both self‑discovery and collective effort, and one cannot truly flourish without the other. Come open and prepared to learn, to offer your gifts, and to be strengthened by the power of community.

Changes Big and Small—God's Love in Action
***Learn to recognize and utilize the gifts that come from change, however small.***
“The ECK, or Holy Spirit, provides the bricks and mortar. I'm here to point them out to you, to say, ‘Those are the bricks, and there's the mortar.’ Most people don't recognize them.
“And what are you going to do with them?
“The Holy Spirit provides them, somebody points them out to you, but it's up to you whether you use them as stumbling blocks or as stepping-stones.”
—Harold Klemp, *What is Spiritual Freedom?* Mahanta Transcripts, Book 11, pp. 155–156

Saturday Night S’mores
Do you like s’mores? Maybe you’ve never had a s’mores. Either way this is the place to be for dollar s’mores. But you’ve got to roast the marshmallows over an open fire yourself which is the best part. Not mention you’ll be meeting other people in a social environment. $1 (cash only please) gets you two crackers, a piece of milk chocolate and a marshmallow on a skewer. For those of you who have never made your own or aren’t that skilled I will teach you how. And yes you can have more than one!
