Welcome to another exciting evening of NixOS! If there are no speakers, we just hold a regular hack evening. Room: ADA ## Details Interested in NixOS? Maybe only its package manager Nix? Want to share how you (ab)use Nix(OS) in your own company? Join this NixOS user group meet-up! Topic will be announced. *Why NixOS?* **NixOS The Purely Functional Linux Distribution** NixOS is a Linux distribution with a unique approach to package and configuration management. Built on top of the Nix package manager ( nixos.org/nix ), it is completely declarative, makes upgrading systems reliable, and has many other advantages ( nixos.org/nixos/about.html ). **Declarative** NixOS has a completely declarative approach to configuration management: you write a specification of the desired configuration of your system in NixOS’s modular language, and NixOS takes care of making it happen. **Reliable** NixOS has atomic upgrades and rollbacks. It’s always safe to try an upgrade or configuration change: if things go wrong, you can always roll back to the previous configuration. Come join us for a cosy night of Nix(OS). Tickets here: [www.TheSilvers.dk](www.thesilvers.dk) Here in Copenhagen we have started a movement of weekly dinners (on a Wednesday) hosted by the senior generation in their own homes. Seniors with 60+ years of life experience who are community leaders, intellectuals, artists, storytellers, and want to share their experience over dinners for a small group each time. Every Wednesday there is dinner hosted by a different Silver (senior host) who will open their front door, welcome a group of 5-8 people into their home, and share their stories, knowledge, and connections across the table over a themed evening. Each host chooses their own theme and it is the aim to pass on their hard-earned knowledge.
Silvers Dinners: Share your Hobby with Lisbet and Michael
Silvers Dinners: Share your Hobby with Lisbet and Michael
Lisbet and Michael organize a concept dinner for 8 guests at their home in Hørsholm, focusing on hobbies: what we build, make and do when we are fully in flow. Lisbet Madsen built her career as a senior consultant and international team leader in global companies including Shell, Unilever and IBM. She worked throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia, advising management teams and leading complex transformation processes. Today she exhibits ceramics and visual arts: a continuation of her desire to create and communicate with precision. Michael Regnarsen spent nearly two decades at IBM, specializing in systems architecture, requirements analysis, and application development. Known for his structured thinking and long-term approach, he now applies the same principles to the restoration of classic mahogany boats: a practical hobby based on patience, craftsmanship and engineering logic. Wild Technology (!) — Bioengineering, Enhancement, Acceleration & Future Humans
Wild Technology (!) — Bioengineering, Enhancement, Acceleration & Future Humans
**“Wild Technology (!) — Beyond AI, Beyond Control?”** Bioengineering, Enhancement, Acceleration, and the Future of Being Human Technology is no longer just something we *use*. It’s something that reshapes bodies, minds, and even evolution itself. From gene editing and brain–computer interfaces to synthetic life and runaway AI, we’re entering a phase where the boundaries of the human are no longer fixed. This isn’t a futurist hype session or a tech demo. It’s a philosophical conversation about limits, responsibility, and what it means to remain human in a world of radical technological power. *** **Topics we’ll touch on:** * Beyond AI: bioengineering, gene editing, and human enhancement * Are we improving humanity—or redesigning it? * Who gets access to enhancement—and who is left behind? * Is there such a thing as “playing God,” or is that fear outdated? * Do moral limits still apply when technology moves faster than ethics? * What happens when evolution becomes a design choice? * And finally… is there a point where technology stops serving life—and starts redefining it? Casual discussion. No technical background required—just curiosity and a willingness to think boldly and carefully at the same time. Whether you feel excited, uneasy, inspired, or alarmed—you’re not alone. Let’s explore the edge of the possible—and ask where, if anywhere, we should draw the line.

Climbing @ Beta Sydhavn
Climbing @ Beta Sydhavn
**Hi everyone** \*A few people has asked if they can join if the event is full, and of course. Just write a comment, so I have a overview.\* I’m David, and I’d love to start a social bouldering club for anyone who wants to climb, hang out, and meet new people! I will arrange a meetup climbing event every 2nd week or once a month, at different climbing gyms around the city. The focus is on: • Climbing and challenging ourselves • Being social and building a fun community • Training together – all levels welcome I’ve been climbing for about 1.5 years, so I’m still in my learning phase, but I’m more than happy to help beginners get started and share the basics with anyone who’s new. We will start at **Beta Boulder at Sydhavn the 18 April @ 14.00** o’clock. If people want, we can go for a drink or a bit of food afterwards. There will be a warm up and cool down, focusing on climbing and mobility. If you want to join in on that, otherwise drop in when ever. If you’re interested in joining, just drop a comment. Looking forward to climbing with you all! **Short Overview of Boulder Gyms in Copenhagen and bouldering is:** **Beta Boulders** A modern and friendly gym with lots of different wall styles. Great for both beginners and experienced climbers, and there’s a nice training area as well. **Bison Boulders** Located a bit outside the city, but very relaxed and welcoming. Good variety of routes and plenty of space. A calm, nice atmosphere. **Boulders CPH** One of the biggest and most popular bouldering gyms in Copenhagen. Many routes for all levels and a very social environment. **What Is Bouldering?** Bouldering is a type of climbing done at low heights — usually up to around 4–5 meters — **without ropes or harnesses**. Instead, there are thick mats on the floor for safety. You only need climbing shoes, which you can rent, and maybe some chalk for your hands, that you can borrow from me. Climbs are short “problems” or routes that you try to solve using balance, technique, and strength. Some are easy, some are challenging, and you can always choose the level that fits you. Bouldering is also very social — people often help each other, share tips, cheer each other on, and have fun together. It’s perfect for meeting new people while getting a good workout.

Drunken
Drunken
This month's prompt concerns the idea of the “warrior philosopher” (seemed appropriate in these times)--that is someone whose understanding of violence, power, and justice is forged through direct experience of war. We are looking at Major General Smedley D. Butler, a highly decorated U.S. Marine raised in a Quaker (pacifist) tradition who later became a prominent critic of American militarism (there is a wonderful biography of Gen. Butler called "Gangsters of Capitalism") Butler's argument in *War Is a Racket* (1935): that many U.S. interventions were driven less by national defense than by corporate and financial interests, with Butler portraying himself as an enforcer for business and Wall Street. We can consider the moral ambiguity of his insider critique—whether complicity strengthens or undermines credibility and also consider some of the concrete reforms he proposed (e.g., “conscript” capital before soldiers, restrict the military to coastal defense, and have only those who fight decide on war). Butler’s life arc clearly changed from pacifist upbringing to warrior to antiwar crusader—and asks whether true understanding of peace requires firsthand knowledge of war, and what that implies about the cost of suffering. So do we need to suffer to understand suffering? Do we have to experience war to appreciate peace? As one more question: in the movie "A Few Good Men" Jack Nicholson's character says that "you have the luxury of not knowing what I know" so do most of us go through life oblivious to real violence and suffering? See you at Drunken Philosophy!
