\- 20:30: Networking & Drinks
**Welcome to edition 14 of the Generative AI Belgium Meetup! 🚀**
This time, we go on a quest.
Many epics speak of the brave and the adventurous going on a quest to conquer, slay, tame, or train a dragon along the way. The last three years of AI developments have their own stories of creativity, novel paths, and unforeseen challenges that seemed too big to tackle. In this edition, we want to bring some stories of people and teams who didn't choose the easiest path, but the most interesting one.
Join us on March 5th at Dataroots, Arnould Nobelstraat 32, Leuven, to meet these brave souls and get a feel for what it takes to tackle a challenge from scratch.
Whether it's navigating the dragon that is the EU AI Act, training and running a custom language model, or building production-ready systems, every path has its own fire-breathing challenges.
See you there!
**Line-up:**
\- 🐉 [Niels Tack](https://www.linkedin.com/in/niels-tack/): Taming The EU AI Act - Compliance as code
\- 🏰 [Sohum Bhatt](https://www.linkedin.com/in/sohum-bhatt-530114230/): Taming Local LLMs to build applications
\- ⚔️ [Maarten Vandeperre:](https://www.linkedin.com/in/maarten-vandeperre/) Taming AI Sovereignty
\- 🤺[Lode Nachtergaele:](https://www.linkedin.com/in/lodenachtergaele/) Taming Agentic RAG - How Agentic Beats RAG
Big thanks to Dataroots for hosting us and to our sponsors: In The Pocket, BruCON, Red Hat, Collibra, Plainsight & Volta Ventures for supporting the community.
IoT Meetup at Concept Reply (Preparing IoT for the Quantum Era with DigiCert)
**Beer, Pizza and IoT Meetup (DigiCert Special)**
We would like to invite you to our next IoT Meetup at Concept Reply at the Reply offices in Munich.
**Agenda**
19:00 – Securing the future Internet of Things with ML-KEM and ML-DSA (Talks by Kevin Hilscher and Daniel Stroehmann from DigiCert)
20:00 – Pizza & Networking
**Description**
Today’s Internet of Things (IoT) relies on a variety of protocols and communications technologies…CoAP, LwM2M, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, Wi-Fi, Thread … many of which are not quantum-safe.
While large-scale quantum computers capable of breaking current encryption aren’t yet available, the concept of “harvest now, decrypt later” is a significant concern. Now that NIST has released final versions of its first three Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) standards the race is on to make IoT quantum-safe.
**We will explore**
* What it takes to make an IoT solution quantum-safe.
* The algorithms regulators, such as BSI, are recommending.
* How to implement and transmit data between a device and an MQTT broker with TLS 1.3, ML-KEM, and ML-DSA using open-source tools.
Please feel free to forward this invite to anybody who might like to take part.
PLEASE NOTE: This Meetup will get streamed and recorded so you may get filmed by taking part. Doors open at 7PM for this one due to an event before.
This event is exclusively for those with a professional background. Due to limited capacity, we reserve the right to restrict admission.
Pizza, beer and seats first come first serve! :)

Balkan Baddie and Friends: A Standup Comedy Show
A comedy show with headliner Bianca Lala from Romania 🇷🇴 , featuring some of the funniest international acts in Luxembourg : Jerry,🇹🇷 Keli,🇦🇱 and hosted by Ken Park🇱🇺.
**About the Artists:🎙️**
**BIANCA LALA:** She does comedy because she’s Gen Z and believes in healing - but ironically. She’s also Romanian, which means she’s chasing her dreams, but like, with low expectations. She used to work in sales until she discovered her true passion: not making money. If you’ve ever cried on a Flixbus, called your mom just to fight, or tried to fix a guy whose whole personality was a Japanese tattoo and a really bad impression of Matthew McConaughey - congrats, you have something in common with her.
She’s performed in 38 cities and 19 countries (one of which was Slovakia, so it doesn't count) and has had airport panic attacks in 5 of those. She currently has the most viewed set on Red Mic’s YouTube channel (“What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Kinky”) - 239k views and counting. As the co-founder of Unhinged Theatre, she also works behind the scenes, writing scripts and crafting chaotic yet entertaining plotlines.
**JERRY:** Jerry is a Turkish comic and one of Luxembourg’s rising stars, chronicling the chaos of singlehood in her thirties, where her relationship status refreshes every 24 to 48 hours. Her comedy dives into expat struggles, working life, and the absurdities of trying to settle down abroad.
**KELi:** Raised in Greece, Albanian by birth, princess by choice, resides currently in Luxembourg after several failed attempts at staying in one country. His comedy is observational and story-led, built around social and cultural commentary and that complaining is his preferred way of understanding the world. An archivist/librarian, cat enthusiast and metalhead who enjoys his boring job and wants to bring attention to immigrant stories and everyday cultural absurdities.
**MC**
**KEN PARK:** Once a skater boy, now a domesticated husband and proud plant addict, Ken brings easygoing stories and sharp observations to the stage. He somehow finds a way to click with every crowd, no matter the clique. Always welcomed everywhere, he puts the 'in' in inclusive.
**Where**: ROCAS, 33 Rue des Capucins, 1313 Ville-Haute, Luxembourg
**When:** 7th of March I 8PM

CBusData - Discover the Power of Window Functions
Window functions have nothing to do with the Windows operating system but provide a “window” to a result set when used in SQL queries. They are powerful, set-based methods to view data in unexpected ways. Window functions provide easy, set-based solutions to solve some common problems:
* Using running totals
* Performing operations in intervals
* Identifying data gaps and islands
* Performing aggregates without losing detail
Many people are confused by window functions and do not know how to use them properly. This session will explore window functions, how they work, and how to use them. Demonstrations with several examples will solidify how window functions can simplify queries and make them more powerful.

### Much Ado About Nullable - C# Nullable Reference Types Explained
In 2019 (C# 8.0) Microsoft introduced a feature that has generated a lot of confusion, debate and outright dissent. I'm talking about Nullable Reference Types. In this presentation, I we dig into this feature, explore why it exists, what problem it tries to solve, how it works, and how people have critiqued it, so that you as a programmer can decide if and how you want to use it.
