Young LGBTQ+ Professionals Drinks
\*\* Please RSVP - this helps the venue plan ahead and ensure enough space is reserved for us \*\*
Hey everyone!
Are you a young professional in your 20s/30s looking to meet other LGBT young professionals? Then we hope to see you at the upcoming Tuesday drinks! Most people come to these drinks by themselves, and half of the people are first-timers, so these evenings are great to meet new people in London.
We have tables reserved on the top floor (loft) of The Yard bar in Soho. Go into the Yard, turn left, and head upstairs. Just ask the bar for the tables reserved for the "Meetup". We usually have the tables opposite to the bar.
Many have noticed that it can be difficult to meet up with the LGBT community once you leave university or come to a big new city such as London. For this reason we've decided to start organising drinks for young professionals, intended for those who love to have a drink with like-minded people after a busy day of work. Do spread the word, and bring friends, colleagues and family!
Frequently Asked Questions:
It's my first time and I'm coming alone, should I be nervous?
No, you found the right event! Almost everyone joins these drinks alone and there are always a bunch of first timers. Just grab a drink and say hi to those around the reserved tables and you'll be absolutely fine :)
I cannot make it at 7.00pm, can I come later?
Yes, definitely! There will always be one of the organisers present from 7.00pm onwards, but most people just join whenever they can. There is no official 'start' so to say, and it usually stays busy till around 10pm-11pm. For first timers it can be easier to mingle if you come before 8pm, when it's not that busy yet.
How often are the drinks and where are they held?
We have drinks every two weeks from 7.00pm at The Yard Bar in Soho. Sometimes we organise other events such as big nights out, pub crawls and picnics. Just keep an eye on the Meetup page.
Is there a dress code?
Nope, not at all. Just wear whatever you want.
Is there a cost?
Only for whatever drinks you buy at the bar.
That said, if you enjoy the Meetup, we would really welcome any cash donations to help cover our costs for running the events. However, you will never be directly asked for any money from any of our team.
Are the Tuesday drinks for networking?
No, the drinks are super casual, and not intended to find your new dream job. We have people from all different professional backgrounds, so it's always cool to hear what others are up to.
I don't drink alcohol, can I come?
Of course! Since it's on a Tuesday many take it easy, so you won't be an outlier.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to pop any of our organisers a message. Looking forward to meeting you all!
Xx The young LGBTQ+ professionals team Xx
LDNUG February 2026 with Guillaume Faas and Jenny Martin
Happy 2026! Our first meetup of the year will be back at Zühlke's offices near Old Street, with Guillaume Faas talking about better ways to handle exceptions, Jenny Martin talking about taming complexity with OOPSI, plus the usual drinks, snacks, and plenty of time to chat. Doors 18:30, the first talk starts at 19:00 and we'll be done and heading to the pub at 21:00 to continue the conversation.
**Guillaume Faas: Throw exceptions... out of your codebase**
Throwing exceptions is often used to handle errors, validations, and other specific use cases. It is considered by many to be the standard way of indicating a failure and providing feedback to the caller. However, this approach can cause significant issues like being hard to detect, obfuscating the flow or leaving the system invalid.
In this talk, I want to show you a faster alternative that offers more transparency and predictability. We will see how to integrate ideas from the Functional paradigm, such as "Monads", into an Object-Oriented codebase using a real-life project: Vonage's open-source .NET SDK. This talk will be the perfect opportunity to show you what they are and how easy they are to use.
**Guillaume Faas** is a Senior .Net Developer Advocate at Vonage, based in Thionville, France. In recent years, Guillaume has focused on sharing my experience through mentoring, public speaking, and open-source contributions; all aimed at helping teams grow and build sustainable software. With nearly 15 years of experience in .NET development, he's worked across industries as an engineer, coach, and now developer advocate. His current focus is on developer experience: building SDKs, writing approachable technical content, and speaking at conferences around the world.
**Jenny Martin: OOPSI: Making Sense of Complexity**
OOPSI stands for outcomes, outputs, process, scenarios, inputs. It’s a flexible, easy-to-use collaboration framework that helps agile and product development teams cut through complexity and focus on value.
OOPSI is timely because it maximises the intrinsically human aspects of effective delivery, helping teams understand how and when to collaborate, while producing lean, example-driven artefacts that clarify scope and intent so both people and automation can work more effectively. In this talk, you’ll learn how to apply OOPSI to strengthen shared understanding, clarify assumptions, and support testable delivery, using a detailed, end-to-end example.
**Jenny Martin** is a practitioner, facilitator, and product discovery specialist with over 25 years’ experience working at the intersection of technology, delivery, and human behaviour. She has spent more than 15 years working with Agile and modern product development teams, helping them make sense of complexity and build shared understanding. Known as The Collaboration Coach, Jenny focuses on practical collaboration that supports effective delivery. She is currently writing a book on OOPSI.
Product Pints: February Drinks
We’re keeping the momentum going into February with a trip to the **Singer Tavern** near Old Street this month.
This place has quite the history - built in 1929 as the headquarters for the Singer Sewing Machine Company. They’ve kept the original Art Deco feel and the green-and-white tiling, but these days it’s a great Shoreditch pub with a solid rotation of craft beers. See you there
**What is Product Pints, anyway?**
It's simple: Forget the stuffy presentations, Product Pints is all about meaningful connections and stimulating conversations for product people.
Our diverse crowd includes everyone from aspiring PMs to seasoned CPOs, entrepreneurs, developers, designers, and tech enthusiasts.
Need advice on a tricky problem? Curious what other PMs are building? Or just want to share a beer with your peers? This is the perfect opportunity to grow your network and launch some genuinely great chats!
**P.S. If your company is interested in sponsoring future events in 2026, please reach out to us at hello@productpints.com - thanks!**
Emacs London meetup
Join us at our next Emacs London meetup held at University College London (UCL) on Tuesday 24 February. A projector will be available, if anyone wants to give a presentation and/or if helpful to share Emacs tips, for some collaborative debugging, etc.
We might head to a pub for a drink and/or a nibble afterward.
Emacs users of all levels welcome! Interested in Emacs but not really a user? You're more than welcome too!
**Call for presentations**
Fancy talking about your favourite Emacs package? Proud of your latest Emacs Lisp hack and you want to tell everybody? Anything parenthesis-related that's bugging you? There'll be a monitor waiting for you for a short presentation!

English Pronunciation And Rhythm For High-Stakes Professionals In London
**Read this before you RSVP.**
This workshop is for a **very specific type of person.**
You are a **non-native professional in London.**
You can do your job in English.
You can join meetings, present slides, speak to clients.
But when it really matters - **presenting to senior leadership, negotiating with clients, interviewing for a promotion, speaking to investors** \- you know your English does not sound as **clear, confident or natural** as you want.
In your native language you feel **sharp, credible and relaxed.**
In English you sometimes feel **flatter, more tense and less convincing.**
You might notice that:
* You have to repeat yourself in important meetings.
* People interrupt you or talk over you.
* You slow down or overthink your words when you are under pressure.
* You worry that your **accent, pronunciation or rhythm** makes you sound **less senior** than your actual level.
If that sounds like you, **this workshop is for you.**
I'm Michael Roberts.
I grew up with a **speech impediment in English**, so I know what it is like to be judged on how you sound instead of what you mean.
After fixing it and learning multiple languages, I created the **British Accent Method** to help non-native professionals and pilots speak **clear, confident English in high-stakes situations.**
This is **not** a general English class.
It is not about more grammar or more vocabulary.
It is a **practical, focused session** where you will:
* **See** how your current pronunciation and rhythm affect your credibility when you speak English.
* **Hear** which sounds, weak forms and stress patterns make your English harder to follow in fast meetings and presentations.
* **Discover** how native speakers use English rhythm to sound natural and in control, and how you can copy that **without losing your identity.**
* **Practise real phrases from your professional life** with live feedback.
We'll look at situations like:
* Presenting to **senior leadership or a board.**
* Explaining complex ideas to **non-technical stakeholders.**
* Handling **difficult questions** in English.
* Introducing yourself and your work in a way that sounds **confident, not rehearsed.**
You will leave this workshop with:
* A **clear understanding** of what in your current pronunciation and rhythm is holding you back in high-stakes situations.
* **Two or three specific changes** you can start using immediately to sound clearer and more senior.
* A **simple plan** to keep improving after the event.
This workshop is for non-native professionals in London in fields such as **finance, consulting, tech, law, medicine, engineering, academia and entrepreneurship.**
If you already speak English well, but you know that **how you sound is not yet matching your level of expertise, this is for you.**
If you only want free general English practice or casual conversation, **this is not the right event.**
**Format:**
* Small group.
* Short teaching sections.
* Live examples and practice.
* Time for questions about your specific situations.
If you read this and thought **'this is exactly my problem'**, reserve your place and I will see you there.

Agentic AI in Data Pipelines
In February, we are taking a look at what is happening with agentic AI and data pipelines Join us in lively Hoxton as we learn from Carmen's and Laura's learning from real-world experiences with agentic AI systems in data pipelines.
We are running this event in collaboration with **[Sahaj Software](http://www.sahaj.ai)**.
**6pm:** Doors Open
**6:30pm:** Talks Start
️The Speakers️
***Beyond the Hype: Practical AI for Real-World Data Engineering Time Sinks***
***Carmen Mardiros, Solution Consultant at*** ***[Sahaj Software](https://www.sahaj.ai/)***
***([Carmen's LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/carmenmardiros/))***
***Abstract*:**
While the world is obsessed with agentic self-healing ETL pipelines, data engineers everywhere still spend hours upon hours on the same tasks as before -- debugging failing tests, exposing new fields into pipelines, navigating schema changes, QA-ing data and business logic.
In this session we'll look at some practical examples from the trenches around how to shrink those time sinks using AI coding assistants so that you can spend more time on what really matters. Examples are dbt-based and Claude Code but accompanied by core tenets applicable to any stack and any coding assistant.
***Carmen's Bio:***
Carmen Mardiros has worked around analytics and data for 15 years. Her experience covers areas such as Data architecture design and implementation and has worked in roles that cover Data Strategist, Lead Data Engineer, Data Warehouse Architect, Tracking Developer, Product/Project Manager, Technical BA, Insight Analyst, Data Modeller.
***Agentic AI for Data Pipelines: Our Good, Bad, and Ugly Learnings***
***Laura Bogaert, Co-Founder and COO at [Tracer.cloud](https://www.tracer.cloud/)***
***([Laura's LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/laura-bogaert/))***
***Abstract:***
As teams move from single models to agentic systems, data pipelines present a uniquely hard production challenge: failures are distributed, context is fragmented, and root-cause analysis is slow. This talk shares practical learnings from building agentic AI systems for troubleshooting real-world data pipelines, including what worked, what didn’t, and why data ontology and context management are critical. Attendees will leave with concrete insights into designing agentic architectures that actually hold up in production.
***Laura's Bio:***
Laura is a co-founder of [Tracer.cloud](http://tracer.cloud/), where she works on building agentic AI systems for alert investigation in production data pipelines across industries. She started her career at McKinsey as part of the fintech and biopharmaceutical team working on AI strategy and M&A. She holds a BSc from University College London and a MSc from Oxford University.
**8pm:** Talks finish. We have the space for networking until 9pm.
There will be a short break between the talks. Afterwards, we may head to a pub to continue chatting.
You can sign up by subscribing to this event
**IMPORTANT**: Please make sure to have a ***valid form of ID***.
See you all on the 26th February
Happy Networking

10 Tips for Becoming a Top 1% AI User - Manuel Corpas
Over the past year, generative AI has gone from novelty to infrastructure. But while most people are still treating tools like ChatGPT as clever calculators, a small group are quietly rebuilding how they work around agentic systems, automated workflows, and personal knowledge bases. This talk is for anyone who suspects there is a big gap between “using AI” and actually being at the frontier.
In this session, our own host Dr Manuel Corpas will share **10 concrete patterns** he has used to build a personal AI stack that now runs 24/7 alongside his research and teaching. Rather than a product demo or a hype talk, this will be a practitioner’s tour of what changes when you move away from simply ad-hoc promptings. Manuel will keep the examples grounded in genomics, health data and academic work, with patterns directly transferable to industry, clinical and data‑intensive roles.
There will be time for Q&A and informal discussion afterwards (as usual, we’ll migrate to the pub after the main session).
**About the speaker**
Dr Manuel Corpas is a globally recognized genomicist and health data scientist whose work has advanced the frontiers of equity in precision medicine. His research spans population genomics, pharmacogenomics, and biobanking, with a longstanding commitment to underserved and underrepresented populations. As President of the Spanish Congress of Genomic Medicine, he leads the largest Spanish-speaking platform for genomic health equity. He has been a driving force behind major sequencing efforts such as the Peruvian Genome Project, which expands global reference datasets to include diverse Indigenous and Latin American populations. He has contributed to widely adopted clinical and open‑source tools, including DECIPHER for rare disease diagnosis and BioJS for genomic data visualization.
Approximate schedule (@University of Westminster – Cavendish Campus):
* 18:30 – doors open
* 18:45 – chitchat, announcements
* 19:00 – talk starts
* 19:45 – talk ends, adjourn to pub
Please RSVP at least the day before, and make sure your Meetup name is recognisable (e.g. “J Smith” rather than “weaselstabber”) so reception can match you to the attendee list and direct you to the room.

If there's something you want to learn leave a comment on this invite so we can plan ahead.
We're looking for topic suggestions and people interested in presenting at our monthly meetings. To this end we've set up a survey form at [https://docs.google.com/forms/d/15eBKF1nQQ2XS5gzD4rvhVRHMBEj7lJtHuA9wXupS3Uc](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/15eBKF1nQQ2XS5gzD4rvhVRHMBEj7lJtHuA9wXupS3Uc)

*Our events have been featured on CNN, CBS, Axios, Miami New Times, TLC's 90 Day Fiance - The Single Life, Tampa Bay Times, Southbend Times, Citylink Magazine, Essence, The Wall Street Journal, Best of Baltimore, AM New York, Chicago Tribune, WINK FM, Woman's World Magazine, and 100s more -- but come see for yourself!*
Join us for a night of fun, flirtation, and possible romance at our singles speed dating event! If you're tired of swiping left and right on dating apps, speed dating is a great way to meet new people in person, in a relaxed, safe, and comfortable environment.
**HOW IT WORKS:**
We'll introduce you to at least 5, and up to 12 - or more - single women or men. Spend a little time with each one, during a series of 6-minute Pre-Dates. Then tell us who you'd like to speak with again & we'll do the rest! It's the modern, civilized, effective, and fun way to meet other professional-level singles. If you're finished with the games and ineffectiveness of online dating and apps, join us to share a wonderful evening of enjoyable conversation with interesting people... and maybe something magical will happen!
**GET TICKETS:**
A Meetup RSVP is not a ticket, you must purchase on our website.

**DOES IT WORK?**
Yes! According to the New York Times, at a speed dating event, people like 2-3 out of 10 people they meet. Online daters only match with 1 in 100 or fewer of the profiles they study. This is the best way to meet new people, and it works! Just ask the thousands of people that have met at our events and had successful relationships and marriages.
**WHAT DOES IT COST?**
We put a lot of time and effort into creating the best singles events possible, so we collect a fee for our hard work. Our events are an excellent value at about $3 per introduction. Get your ticket for the best singles event in town.
**NOTE FOR NEWCOMERS:**
We post our events on various platforms. Our events often sell out, so expect plenty of fellow singles, regardless of the numbers you see here :)
So what are you waiting for?
Join us for some fun conversation with great new people... and maybe something more!
Who will you meet?

Quarterly Community Gathering
Join the Columbus AI community for our quarterly gathering — a casual, community-focused evening where everyone has a chance to share, learn, and connect. These open mic–style events give anyone in the community up to **5 minutes** to present a project, share a tool, pose a question, or offer a perspective on the evolving AI space.
No slides required — just a welcoming space to exchange ideas and keep the local AI conversation moving.
If you’d like to take the stage, message **Chris (the organizer)** with a **title and short description** of what you’d like to share.
Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
