Game of Shrooms Hide & Seek
Game of Shrooms Hide & Seek
A global game of hide and seek of mushroom themed art. Let’s put Portugal on the map in this annual event, as a unique way to celebrate and drive visibility to artists and creators. Want to find original art? Check out the [GAME OF SHROOMS MAP](https://yumfactory.com/projects/gameofshrooms/) of participating artists, and follow artists who are playing for updates on what art you can find and hints on where to find it. Want to hide your original art? Add your general location via participation pin at the link to the [GAME OF SHROOMS MAP](https://yumfactory.com/projects/gameofshrooms/) and add your IG handle or site URL so people can be aware that you are playing and can follow your updates on hints of where you are hiding your pieces. After you plant, take a few photo clues to post. I suggest a close up, then a wide shot, with a landmark of some kind visible (old church, sign post, etc) location tag helps if you are in a suburban area. Click attending and comment on this meetup event page and tag your IG if you are hiding or seeking! Or both :) This is an all day event

Afternoon hike at Catoctin Mountain Park
Afternoon hike at Catoctin Mountain Park
If you like to sleep in on Sunday mornings, this magnificent hike at Catoctin Mountain Park close to Camp David in Thurmont, MD is for you. Our moderate-to-strenuous 8.5-mile circuit with 1370 ft. in elevation gain includes some spectacular views and attractions. Some of the sights we’ll enjoy along the way include Cunningham Falls (highest in Maryland), Hog Rock overlook, Blue Ridge vista, Thurmont vista, the Wolf Rock formation, and the Chimney Rock overlook. Meet at the Grovesnor-Strathmore Metro station by 1:30 p.m. and please answer the Meetup questions so we can organize carpools. Bring snacks, beverages, sunscreen, bug spray, sturdy hiking boots, the $5 Adventuring fee, and $10 to reimburse your carpool driver. We'll make a stop at Sheetz on our drive up. There will be an optional dinner stop in Frederick after the hike. **NEW!** Please [click here](https://adventuringlgbtq.com/Adventuring_Release_Form.pdf) to review our release form. Saturday morning hike
Saturday morning hike
Hello Hikers!! Welcome to our Saturday morning hike at 8:30 AM! Many - but not all - of our hikes originate at Great Falls Park, off Georgetown Pike. Unless you already have an appropriate pass, the park entrance fee is $20/car for a single visit or $35/car for a 12-month pass that is good for the Maryland side of the river too. Come twice and you'll save 5 bucks! For the record, all scheduled hikes will be held even when it rains, snows or is super hot or cold unless the weather is too extreme to be safe. Our standard hike is a relatively easy 1 hour plus loop hike at a moderate pace. Usually a hike-extension is offered for those wishing to add a few miles more, up to 7 miles or so total. In spite of our Meetup name, we also hike in nearby parks such as Riverbend, Scott's Run, Turkey Run, Seneca, and Billy Goat A or C on theMaryland side of the Potomac. We have also scheduled hikes in Shenandoah NP and at Sugarloaf in Maryland. Please note that phone connections can be iffy in the park so don't call you are running late, but texting may work. It's best for you to be on time as we set out pretty much on time. This 1+ hour of hiking (or more) is a great way to relax, turn off your cell phones, make new friends, and get some exercise. I hope to see you on the next hike!! Thanks Dick, Julie, and Katie P.S. We will meet at the lower parking lot. Once you pass the ranger's booth, make an immediate U-turn to the right and follow the road downhill to the parking lot. We meet by the big rock at the far end of the lot.
Early Bird Hike
Early Bird Hike
Grab your coffee and binoculars- it's prime season to hear the musical morning songs of visiting passerines and other birds here in the Bull Run Mountains. Join Preserve staff on a 3.5-mile hike to listen and look for forest-dwelling birds like our scarlet tanager, waterthrush, towhee, and many more. This is a good chance to sharpen your identification skills or see something new! **What to bring:** Insect / tick repellent, water, snacks, binoculars, and hiking shoes. **Where is it:** The public south section of the preserve, located at the end of Beverly Mill Drive. We'll meet near the kiosk board at the trailhead **When:** 5:30 AM The early bird gets the worm. The late hiker gets to catch up to the group! **Who to Contact for Questions**: Deneith Reif, at dreif@vof.org If you're adventurous enough to wake up early on a weekend, you will be rewarded with a dawn chorus and a chance to glimpse some special birds! PS: Please leave your canine companions at home for this and any hike at the preserve.
