Mob Programming at Mofer Coffee
Let’s do some coding together at a cafe! No more working alone in the weekend. Here, we write code together. And I mean together together. Not occupying-the-same-space-but-separate together.
Here’s how it works: Jennifer brings her mobile app project, tells everyone that it is like Pinterest for recipes and she’d like to work on the nav bar. Paul and Chloe think Jennifer's project is fascinating, and they join the group. They gather around Jennifer’s laptop and work on the nav bar for 2 hours. Jennifer is the one typing out the code while Paul and Chloe research, brainstorm, and offer suggestions.
If you’re feeling stuck on your own project or need a motivation boost, bring it to mob programming!
Want to learn by watching how others code and solve problems? Join someone else’s project at this event!
Oh and we love your half-done projects that you are a bit embarrassed to share. Absolutely bring those to the event!
**Discord**:
We use Discord to share screen & code snippets during the event. Also feel free to share your projects here before the event!
https://discord.gg/xwjDdVSw3E
**Event policy**:
* We have 0 tolerance for harassment.
* We don’t allow the projects that are not meant to be shared in public such as school assignments, interview tasks, or trade secrets.
* The goal is to write code. We discourage you from pitching business ideas here, doing code reviews, or spending the whole event on planning what to do.
* Please buy a drink, and tip the barista well.

On May 28, 1961 the celebrated entertainer Cupcake Cassidy appeared on stage at the Lux Theatre on College Street West at Brunswick Avenue to an adoring public.
But it wasn't a happy situation for all. Just the thought of this type of activity in good old Toronto on a Sunday was disconcerting. What was the world coming to? People asked in the "City of Churches." Toronto wasn't into this type of entertainment, or was it?
From the circus riot of 1855, to the "east end of downtown," brothels, and the Yonge Street Sin Strip of the 1960s and 1970s, Toronto wasn't exactly the type of city you would bring home to mother, or anyone for that matter.
It was a city of exotic entertainment with an underground life, flair and danger. In 1968 two young men disappeared from two well known cafes on Yorkville avenue, their remains were found decades later and more cases are coming to light. Murder in old Toronto, how and why, was becoming the catch phrase!
Drugs and crime haunted the streets of Yorkville and migrated south on Yonge Street to set up shop between Gerrard and Dundas Street known as The Strip! And we were called boring!!!!!!!
With the tragic and heartbreaking murder of a 12 year old shoeshine boy the fun and danger loving city decided enough was enough, and the raids and closings started.
But Toronto has a long history of underground activity, activity that one wouldn't even dream was circulating in the city of churches and Toronto the good. You could say it was Toronto the bad or even Toronto, the downright wicked.
Sodom and Gomorrah of the north, well maybe that's a stretch. Or is it? hummmmmm! Points to Ponder indeed!
With over 4 months of research this tour will open your eyes as to the real Toronto. A fascinating walk into the real dark side of this city.
Please be advised this tour is not for children.
Our walk begins at the dog fountain in Berczy Park at 35 Wellington Street East. We end at College and Yonge Street!
This tour has a ticket price of $15.00 per person.

Connection Labs Online (aka Crossroads & Connections)
### Each Crossroads & Connections workshop is a fast, friendly mash-up: short demos, paired practices and intentional reflection. We keep it light, embodied, and social—so wisdom lands in your muscles and your circle, not only your mind. There isn’t one technique that fixes everything, for everyone, in every situation.
### What is it?
We pair complementary domains to spark shared flow, fresh insight, and unforgettable “aha!” moments. You leave with lived skills, not just notes.
* **Dialogue** gets you out of solo spin: small-group formats expose blind spots and sharpen “shared reality,” so your next move matches *this* person and *this* moment.
* **Imaginal** practice is guided “as if” rehearsal you look *through*, not *at*: walking the beats before the scene means your body recognizes turns when stakes rise.
* **Mindfulness** steadies the camera: attention stops jerking around, drama gets de-amplified, and you can catch the instant you’re narrating motives and swap in one honest question.
* **Embodiment** makes it actionable through direct, non-verbal experience and how your inner experience matches your outer expression.
Facilitators: Varies
Fee: $30USD - Or a 10-pack for $200USD

Drumming Circle & Uplifting Discussion 🪘✨🌍
**NO MUSICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**
**About Drum & Soul**
Drum & Soul is a participatory community space that combines drumming, singing, reflection and conversation in one shared experience. Through rhythms from different cultures, collective music making and meaningful discussion around a focused theme, we practise qualities that strengthen both the individual and the community.
This is more than a drumming circle. It is a space where people can grow in expression, presence, listening, and contribution, while learning how these same qualities can be carried into everyday life and relationships.
-
**Why come**
Come if you want to grow your expressive capacity, feel more at ease participating with others, and be part of a growing space that celebrates the human in us. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, background or musical experience.
If you feel shy in groups, that is completely natural. Many people arrive unsure and leave feeling surprisingly at home.
-
**How it works**
We begin with a short breathing and centring exercise, followed by simple rhythm demonstration and call and response drumming. We then move into smaller group discussion around a shared theme. From there we shift into collective jamming and improvisation, and end with a potluck meal and informal connection.
-
**Typical meeting flow**
1. 🫱🏽🫲🏻 Arrival & social time – 15 min
2. 🙋🏻♀️ Welcome, check in and centring – 15 min
3. 🪘 Call & Respond **Drumming & demo** – 20 min
4. 💬 Facilitated **Discussion** on the Theme (groups of five-or so) – 20 min
5. 🕺🏽 Open **Jamming** with multiple instruments – 30 min
6. 🦋 Potluck **dinner** & social time afterwards – 60 min
*This outline is flexible and may shift to suit the group and the space.*
-
**Logistics & what to bring**
We meet in a large and beautiful space. Drums are available on a first come first served basis. We also provide plenty of small percussion instruments so every hand can play. You are welcome to bring your own drum or instrument.
We end the evening with a shared **potluck meal**, an extension of the circle where conversation and connection continue. Since the event is free, we warmly ask everyone to bring a small item to share if they are able. Simple finger foods and easy to serve savoury items are especially helpful, such as fruit, veggies and dip, wraps, sandwiches, hummus and pita, samosas, spring rolls, crackers and cheese, or other meal friendly bites. Sweet items are welcome too, but meal friendly contributions are especially appreciated.
-
**Cost & contributions**
This is a free event. If you are unable to bring food, you are welcome to make an optional contribution toward refreshments and materials by e-transfer to **hooshmandnyc@gmail.com**
-
**Helpful notes**
No prep needed. Doors open at 3:45 p.m. Please arrive by then so we can start at 4:00 p.m. sharp and keep the flow. Location and any last minute updates are posted on Meetup and in our WhatsApp group. We recommend joining the WhatsApp group (ask us for the link at the venue) for quick notices.
-
**Life Between Gatherings**
Drum & Soul does not begin and end with the monthly session. For those who want to continue beyond the gatherings and go deeper, we also have:
• **Advanced sessions** for those who want to go further in drumming technique and explore the discussion themes more deeply in a smaller group
• **Home or café meetups** for simple in-person connection, where a few participants can continue the conversation more personally and naturally
• **Ongoing contact** so the spirit of the gathering can carry into everyday life through our own reflection, friendship and mutual encouragement
Over time, these smaller spaces help strengthen connection, shared learning, and community life between sessions. Ask us about these features for more detail.
-
**Why this matters**
Our world is like a sick body, and is aching for a lasting remedy. We believe our special mission here is to nurture one another, define our roles in service to our fellow humans, and become living temples of unity. A meaningful growth unfolds through both self‑discovery and collective effort, and one cannot truly flourish without the other. Come open and prepared to learn, to offer your gifts, and to be strengthened by the power of community.

CBusData - Practical AI for Power BI Developers
Practical AI for Power BI Developers
A year ago, “agentic AI” was mostly hype for Power BI teams. Today, it deserves your undivided attention. For Power BI pros, there is now a real opportunity to reduce repetitive development work, accelerate delivery, and help developers do more, but only when strong DataOps practices are in place to make AI workflows effective.
This session is a no-nonsense introduction to effective AI patterns for Power BI and Fabric development. Along the way, we will make sense of the growing pile of terminology, including skills, plugins, hooks, and MCP. You will see examples of how modern AI tooling can help with development tasks across Power BI and Fabric, along with the prerequisites, guardrails, and DataOps principles needed to use it responsibly.
Whether you're burned out on AI hype or already using Copilot CLI daily, this session will show you the foundations that are finally making AI-assisted development genuinely useful.
Building Scalable Customer Identity Resolution Pipelines on AWS Using AI
Customer identity resolution becomes increasingly complex as organizations scale across multiple systems, regions, and data formats. Traditional rule-based approaches often fail to keep up with data variability, require constant manual tuning, and struggle with real-time processing needs.
This session presents a practical approach to building a scalable identity resolution pipeline using AWS services and modern AI techniques. The architecture combines data ingestion through Amazon S3 and AWS Glue, transformation pipelines using Spark on EMR, and machine learning models deployed via SageMaker for entity matching and standardization. Graph-based relationship modeling is implemented using Amazon Neptune to improve resolution accuracy by incorporating household and shared attribute context.
We will walk through how machine learning models can be used for name and address normalization, how intelligent blocking strategies improve matching efficiency, and how feedback loops can be introduced to continuously improve accuracy. The session also highlights how serverless components such as AWS Lambda can be used for orchestration and real-time processing.
