Design for those Beyond the address
Design for those Beyond the address
Galerie Toolbox, Koloniestraße 120, Berlin Monday\, April 13th \| 18:00–20:00 Free entry \| Max 10 participants Book your spot here: https://luma.com/bygshie6?utm_id=97758_v0_s00_e0_tv4 Spots are limited to 10. Design Beyond the Address is a 2-hour hands-on mini workshop exploring how design can help people experiencing homelessness in Berlin. We're not here to solve homelessness in two hours — but we believe design thinking can help us understand real human needs, and come up with ideas that could genuinely make a difference. Students and beginners are very welcome. No experience required — just curiosity and a willingness to engage with a topic that matters. ––– HOW THE EVENING WORKS We start with a short presentation and open discussion on the current state of homelessness in Berlin. You'll then receive a ready-made user persona. Your job is to empathise: map their needs, pains, and everyday challenges through rapid research. From there, your group formulates 3–5 "How Might We" questions, votes on which challenge to take forward, and heads into Crazy 8s — a fast ideation method where you sketch 8 ideas in 8 minutes. You pick one idea, develop it, and prepare a short 3-minute pitch. At the end of the evening, every group presents to the room and we close with a feedback round, a group discussion, and some drinks. ––– The workshop takes place inside an ongoing exhibition by Finnish painter Juha Sääski and Henrik Jacob from Berlin — Juha's paintings speak directly to the human experience of homelessness around the world, and set a powerful tone for the evening. Hosted by Anna Oikarinen (product designer, Helsinki) and Alejandro Cruz (industrial designer, Milan) — two friends who met on exchange in Tallinn and bonded over a shared belief that design should serve real human needs. This workshop is their way of doing something meaningful with that belief. Free entry. All levels welcome. 10 spots only
Open Draw
Open Draw

Please understand this measure; it ensures that everyone has a comfortable space to practice. We kindly ask you to be **rücksichtsvoll** and only RSVP “Yes” if you are certain you can attend. TIN* Embodied Practices
TIN* Embodied Practices
🔵 **TIN\* Embodied Practices** with Lux for **TIN\* (Trans\*, Inter\*, Non-binary, agender and genderqueer people)** Free **[Registration Required](https://wearevillage.org/shop/tin-embodied-practices/w16-2026)** Drawing from Body-Mind Centering®, breathwork after Ilse Middendorf, Authentic Movement and Feldenkrais, the sessions combine guided movement, touch-based exploration, improvisation and reflection. Grounded in consent, autonomy and care, the practice supports embodied awareness, bodily autonomy and resilience within a supportive community. A movement-based and self-development space dedicated to TIN\* bodies (Trans\*, Inter\*, Non-binary, including agender and genderqueer identities) and the lived experiences of people identifying outside traditional cisgender definitions. This practice draws inspiration from the experiential anatomy of Body-Mind Centering®, the breathwork of Ilse Middendorf, Authentic Movement, Feldenkrais, and other somatic movement approaches. Touch, hands-on and partnered work, dance improvisation tools, and collective reflection are woven together into an integrated somatic movement framework grounded in consent, autonomy, and care. The intention of this space is to support the cultivation of confidence and resilience in our physicality as TIN\* people, nurture bodily autonomy, and develop touch literacy within a supportive and conscious community. Each session begins with a guided somatic movement practice focused on developing anatomical tools for self-observation. We work with the five cardinal lines (arms, legs, spine), the four corners of the trunk (shoulders and hips), the three primary weights (head, chest, pelvis), and the two sides of the body. These principles support participants in orienting within their own physical architecture and cultivating embodied awareness. From this foundation, the practice expands into communal movement and shared spatial authorship, including time for integration and reflection. Movement is framed as relational, political, and spatial practice in its own right. **General Information** To engage fully in the experience, participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. **Participants:** This workshop is intended for people who identify outside traditional cisgender definitions: Trans\*, Inter\*, Non-binary, including agender and genderqueer identities. **Registration:** This event has limited spots available. Registration via our website is required. **Language:** This event will be in English. **Cost:** The event is free of charge.

Labor: Past, Present, and Future – Work, Power, and Purpose
Labor: Past, Present, and Future – Work, Power, and Purpose
**Labor: Past, Present, and Future – Work, Power, and Purpose** Labor is a defining force of human life. It shapes how we survive, how societies are organized, and how power and resources are distributed. Work can provide stability, dignity, and meaning—but it can also lead to inequality, exploitation, and exhaustion. More than just an individual experience, labor is a collective reality that reflects the structure of our world. At its foundation, labor is tied to survival. Like all living beings, humans must expend energy to sustain life. Our bodies and minds are wired for effort, cooperation, and problem-solving. Yet human labor goes far beyond biology—it is structured by economic systems, cultural values, and political decisions that determine who works, how, and for whose benefit. Across history, labor has continuously evolved—and so have the struggles surrounding it. Workers have organized to demand rights, protections, and fair wages, giving rise to unions, movements, and political parties. In many countries, labor movements shaped modern democracy, from the Social Democratic Party of Germany in Germany to the Labour Party in the UK, alongside similar movements across Europe and beyond. These efforts are remembered and celebrated globally on Labor Day. Labor is not only a human phenomenon. In the natural world, cooperation, division of roles, and collective effort are essential for survival—from insect colonies to social mammals. These systems offer a broader perspective on work as something deeply rooted in life itself, while also highlighting what makes human labor unique: its complexity, inequality, and capacity for change. In today’s world, labor is undergoing rapid transformation. Automation, digital platforms, and globalization are reshaping traditional employment. Stable careers are giving way to flexible—and sometimes precarious—forms of work. At the same time, the psychological experience of labor is becoming more visible: questions of burnout, motivation, identity, and purpose are central to how people relate to their work. Looking ahead, the future of labor may challenge long-held assumptions. Artificial intelligence and robotics could significantly reduce the need for human labor in many sectors, while increasing demand in others. This raises fundamental questions: What is the role of work in human life? How should wealth be distributed? And how do we define purpose in a world where labor is no longer central to survival? We will explore how labor has evolved through history—from early forms of work to modern economies—and how worker movements and political forces like the Social Democratic Party of Germany and the Labour Party shaped rights and social change. We’ll also reflect on labor as a biological, psychological, and social experience—how effort, motivation, and cooperation shape both humans and the natural world—and how work today is being transformed by technology, from gig economies to automation. Finally, we’ll look ahead to the future of labor, asking what happens if work changes fundamentally, and how we might rethink purpose, fairness, and the role of labor in our lives. Join us for a critical and engaging discussion on labor—not only as work, but as a force that shapes society, identity, and the future. Together, we’ll reflect on how labor defines our lives today and how it might be reimagined tomorrow. *** 📅 Event Details 🗓️ Date: Saturday, 18 April 2026 ⏰ Time: 14:30 📍 Location: Hardenbergstraße 10, 10623 Berlin 📱 WhatsApp: For prep materials and directions (Group Chat) [Group Chat](https://chat.whatsapp.com/Ba8ZAaH2Yuk6FGmD3LLO7H)

Nerds, Creatives & Dreamers
**Nerds, Creatives & Dreamers** is a small, curated gathering in Berlin for two kinds of people who almost never end up in the same room: the ones who build things with code, and the ones who build things with imagination. Developers and painters. Engineers and writers. Founders and photographers. In daily life these worlds rarely collide — here, that collision is the whole point. Just a good space, a deliberate mix of curious people, and the freedom to let the evening unfold. Come ready to be surprised by who you meet and where the evening takes you. A room full of curious humans. We’re here to socialize as human beings. And if you do exchange contacts — make it personal, not transactional. **🛠 If You Build Things** · Developers & Engineers · Designers & Product People · Founders · People Who Code for Fun **🎨 If You Create Things** · Writers & Journalists · Photographers · Artists & Painters · Anyone With a Side Obsession Our event on Luma: https://luma.com/0xehvknp?tk=vaEmcM **📝 Note:** You are welcome to attend our Friday social meetup! The event is free. The space is generously hosted for us — the only thing we ask is that you support it by buying a drink. A small gesture that keeps evenings like this possible. **🤝 Community:** This is a space built on curiosity and respect. We keep it that way — for everyone.

We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome! As we learn, we hope to connect more with the Deaf community in Central Ohio. Join us as you're able! Come regularly or just once - whatever you're looking for! Each meetup will explore different topics related to ASL/Deaf culture, and will feature time to practice conversation with one another. Just bring yourself and a willingness to learn!

AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machine’s? This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation? We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee. Whether you’re deep in the field or just getting curious, come connect with others building and exploring AI in Columbus.
