Presentation Lab - Structured Communication Training for Professionals
This is an [in-person communication lab](https://www.presentation-school.com/berlin-presentation-lab) that helps professionals speak clearly and confidently under pressure using proven methods.
Most people don’t struggle because they don’t practice enough. They struggle because they practice without the right principles. This session focuses on deliberate, guided practice informed by performance psychology, neuroscience, and modern communication training.
**What You Will Do**
* Learn one science-based communication principle that improves real-world performance.
* Train that principle in structured speaking exercises designed for skill development.
* Receive clear, professional feedback you can apply immediately.
Practice and feedback are guided by experienced communication professionals who work with executives and senior professionals.
This is not peer-to-peer feedback or open discussion.
**Who Should Attend?**
* Non-native English speakers
* Professionals who present, lead meetings, or speak up at work
* Anyone who overthinks, freezes, or loses clarity under pressure
* People who want structured improvement, not just repetition
No prior experience is required.
**What This is NOT**
* A lecture.
* A motivational talk.
* A public performance.
* Unstructured open practice.
* Peer-led feedback or opinion-based critique.
**Before The Session**
Before the session, participants complete a short preparation form to clarify their goals and common communication challenges. This helps ensure the practice and feedback during the lab are as relevant and effective as possible.
**Optional:** Participants may submit a short video (1–2 minutes) or written questions. This is optional and used to personalise focus areas and examples during the session. No individual coaching is provided.
**After the Session**
Participants receive a short follow-up pack with key takeaways, practical drills, a reflection question, and guidance on next steps.
**Practical Information**
Language: English

#29 AI Series: King's College London - D. Watson
We are excited to feature **David Watson**, who is currently a Lecturer at **King's College London** and will discuss **"Can Humans Flourish in the Age of AI? The Inverse Alignment Problem: AI and Moral Dilemmas**", lasting approximately 45 minutes. After the talk, seize the opportunity to connect with fellow AI enthusiasts to share ideas and questions while enjoying free drinks and pizza. **Door close by 7.15pm, so please come early! Also, "attend"ing (RSVP) here on Meetup is strictly necessary to be guaranteed entry.**
Please note that Meetup has recently been quite keen on promoting its Plus program. However, you are not obligated to purchase it, as both our events and the platform remain free.
**Who is this event for?**
This event is open to everyone interested in state-of-the-art AI research. We especially design it for students, PhD candidates, academic researchers, and industry professionals with a research focus in machine learning.
**Abstract**: The "alignment problem" in AI ethics refers to the challenge of instilling human values into automated systems. This is difficult for many reasons, not least because humans themselves are poorly aligned—our behavior as individuals and societies routinely deviates from our stated values. I propose a different challenge, which I argue is simpler to solve and more immediately beneficial. "Inverse alignment" is the task of using AI to help us live up to our own values. I examine two questions: Could AI help us become better individuals? Could AI help us build more just societies? Focusing on weakness of will and coordination failures, I explore whether and how AI might address these pervasive moral dilemmas. I argue that the primary obstacles are not technological but rather individual and structural vices that drive poor decision-making. While AI-enabled interventions could potentially help under the right conditions, there are real risks associated with overreliance on inverse alignment strategies. Any serious AI ethics discourse must nevertheless grapple with this possibility, given its profound implications for human flourishing.
**Bio**: [David](https://dswatson.github.io/) is a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence at King’s College London, where his research spans machine learning, philosophy of science, and computational biology. He received his DPhil from the University of Oxford, focusing on algorithmic fairness and explainability, and was previously a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Statistical Science at University College London, working on causal discovery and inference. He also serves as an Associate Editor at *Minds & Machines* and contributes as a Data Scientist at Queen Mary University’s Centre for Translational Bioinformatics.
We are [BLISS](https://bliss.berlin/) e.V., the **AI** **organization** in Berlin that **connects like-minded individuals** who share great interest and passion for the field of machine learning. This winter 2025/26, we will, again, host an exciting speaker series on site in Berlin, featuring excellent researchers from Tübingen AI Center, DeepMind, Microsoft, King's College London, cohere, and ETH Zürich.

Flutter Berlin Meetup @Knowunity
Kick off the new year with our first gathering of 2026! As the days get colder, we’re bringing the Flutter community together for an evening of fresh inspiration and cutting-edge tech. Join us at Knowunity for a night of learning, networking, and a deep dive into the future of user interfaces.
**Schedule**
**18:30 — Doors Open & New Year Welcome**
Check in, grab a drink, and catch up with the community as we start the year strong.
**19:00 — Opening Remarks**
A greeting from Flutter Berlin and our hosts at Knowunity to kick off the evening.
**Talk 1 — From Prompts to Pixels: LLM-Powered Interfaces using Generative UI**
Imagine asking an LLM a question and instead of receiving a static wall of text, you receive a fully tailored interactive interface that's built on the fly, specific to your task. In this talk, we'll dive into Google's new Generative UI paradigm and how it can be applied with Flutter. You’ll learn what it's capable of today, how it works under the hood, and how you can start integrating Generative UI patterns into your own Flutter applications.
**Talk 2 — Pushing the boundaries of Dart and Flutter**
This talk takes you on a short but unconventional journey: from re-implementing core Flutter concepts from scratch in the terminal, to building a coding agent on top of it - and eventually making Flutter run inside Minecraft.
Along the way, I’ll share the technical challenges, unexpected lessons, and finally reveal why I actually did all of this in the first place 🙂
**20:00 — Networking**
Meet fellow Flutter devs, exchange ideas, and chat over snacks.
**22:00 — Doors Close**
We say goodbye and step back into the crisp January night.
[face to face] Interview Simulation
Join this **Interview Simulation** session — to sharpen the skills for both interviews **and** architectural pitches.
💡 How it works
The event is split into three parts:
1. **Most common behavioral & HR questions** \- you will receive a printed list of behavioral/HR questions and we brainstorm tips on how to prepare for them
2. **Interview Simulation (10 minute rounds)** – One participant acts as the interviewee and answers a round of behavioral and design-focused questions. Each other participant gets to ask him one interview question.
3. **Feedback Round** – The group provides feedback on communication, structure, and clarity. Constructive criticism is encouraged.
💡You will be asked:
* **Behavioral questions** (“Tell me about yourself”, “Describe a challenge you faced...”)
* **Technical questions** (based on your tech stack)
* **Light design problems** (high-level reasoning, not code)
No need to prepare anything in advance — just bring curiosity and an open mind.
Feel free to bring your CV if you’d like feedback from others, or share a few words if you’re currently job hunting. If so, we will also brainstorm answers to more common questions that you were asked.
Whether you’re preparing for an interview or simply want to grow as a software designer or architect, this session is for you.

• a connected and mindful meditation where it is possible to blissfully surf the cutting edge of the present moment together…
• a game where it’s possible to feel excited and calm in the same moment, and everyone can win as much as they like…

Meditation for the City by August Shells - part of Vorspiel festival
Meditation for the City is a live audiovisual performance engaging breath, attention, and stillness under conditions of constant acceleration.
Digitally processed natural imagery meets live acoustic sound. Together, they form a temporary situation in which bodies can slow down. As recovery. As escape. As a way of noticing what continuous stimulation and extraction tend to suppress.
One part of the performance takes the form of a guided breathing meditation, structured through rhythm and sound. Elsewhere, guidance recedes. Attention is left open.
Meditation is approached here not as a private technique, but as a collective and material practice. One shaped by social and economic conditions. Slowness is not neutral. It is a prerequisite for reflection on how nervous systems are organized, how exhaustion becomes normal, and how ways of living settle into the body.
––– No prior experience with meditation is required. Seating will be available. Visitors are welcome to bring their own yoga mats or cushions if they wish.
––– August Shells is an ongoing research-based art practice by Maciej Kodzis, blending visual art, sound, and ecological philosophy.

Azure CBUS January: Learn Infrastructure-as-Code Through Minecraft
## Learn Infrastructure-as-Code (the FUN Way) — Through Minecraft 🎮☁️
**Joint Meetup: Azure CBUS × Columbus HashiCorp User Group × DevOps Columbus**
What if learning Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code didn’t feel like a whitepaper… but more like a game?
Join us for a joint Azure CBUS, Columbus HashiCorp User Group, and DevOps Columbus meetup where **Mark Tinderholt** \(Principal Architect\, Microsoft Azure \| HashiCorp Ambassador \| “The Azure Terraformer”\) shows how **Minecraft** can be used as a surprisingly powerful way to understand real-world Infrastructure-as-Code concepts.
In this session, Mark will demonstrate how Terraform and Azure can be used to provision, configure, and manage Minecraft servers—while teaching the same patterns you’d use for production cloud infrastructure.
### What we’ll cover
* Infrastructure-as-Code fundamentals using **Terraform**
* Provisioning real infrastructure on **Azure**
* Applying **IaC best practices** (immutability, repeatability, versioning)
* How playful environments like Minecraft make complex concepts *click*
* Why learning through experimentation beats click-ops every time
### Who should attend
* Developers, platform engineers, and cloud engineers
* Terraform users (new or experienced)
* Anyone curious about Infrastructure-as-Code but tired of boring examples
* Minecraft fans who want to see it used in a totally unexpected way
No prior Minecraft experience required—just curiosity and a willingness to learn infrastructure the fun way.
Come for the blocks, stay for the Terraform. 🧱➡️📐

CBusData - Ok I Want to Get Data into Fabric - Now What?
I love my job and one of the main things I do is help customers get going with any of the data technologies at Microsoft. Right now there are a lot of my customers asking about Microsoft Fabric. It's hard to weave across all the shiny new options across the Fabric landscape, let alone figure out where it fits into your organization. In this session we'll focus on answering one question - how can I get data into Fabric? We'll talk through the "it depends" options and see some of the options in live demos.
AI Development Risk Case Studies and how Agentic AI is the future of Appsec
OWASP is ending use of Meetup, so I built an eventbrite for the event.

AI is transforming how software is designed, developed, and deployed, dramatically accelerating velocity while introducing new categories of risk. As organizations adopt AI-assisted coding, autonomous agents, and increasingly complex model interactions, traditional application security approaches struggle to keep pace. This talk examines emerging AI-driven risks through real case studies from the field, highlighting issues such as insecure code generation, data-leakage pathways, model manipulation, and evolving supply-chain threats. We will explore how engineering teams must adapt their people, processes, and governance models to secure AI-augmented development workflows effectively. The session will then introduce agentic AI as the next evolution in application security—autonomous systems capable of continuous analysis, multi-step reasoning, and real-time remediation. Attendees will learn how combining agentic AI with modern practices can reduce developer friction, improve coverage, and create a future-ready application security strategy designed for the demands of AI-native software development
Azure CBUS February: Build Your Own MCP Server
### Tools in your AI's Toolbox : An introduction to MCP Servers
The generative AI revolution has unlocked unprecedented capabilities, but the next frontier is agency: empowering models to interact with, query, and act upon the world. The current challenge is the “N x M integration problem,” where every AI model requires a custom, brittle integration for each external tool or data source. This approach simply doesn’t scale. How can we give an AI access to our sales leads, code repositories, or IoT devices in a standardized, secure, and reusable way?
This session introduces Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open-source framework designed to solve this challenge and become the universal connector—the USB-C port—for AI. MCP standardizes how AI models discover and use external tools, moving beyond simple function-calling to a robust, client-server architecture. We will dive into how this open protocol is creating a new ecosystem for building powerful, context-aware AI agents.
Join this session for a developer-focused introduction where you will learn how to:
Understand the core concepts of the open-source Model Context Protocol and its architecture.
Utilize pre-built, open-source MCP servers to instantly connect AI to tools like Git, Slack, and databases.
Build a custom MCP server to securely expose your own proprietary data and APIs as tools for any compliant AI.
Move beyond bespoke integrations and contribute to a standardized, collaborative, and open ecosystem.
Stop building one-off connectors and start building intelligent agents. This session will give you the practical knowledge to leverage MCP and create the next generation of AI that doesn’t just talk, but does.
