Back in August, we explored how Design Thinking can help us uncover and validate the right problems. But even when we agree on what to build, things often go wrong, not because of bad solutions, but because we don’t fully understand what the problem actually means in practice. In this session, we’ll build on that idea and focus on the next step: turning vague ideas into something concrete, shared, and testable. Using Example Mapping - a lightweight technique from Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) - we’ll work in small groups to: * Break down a feature into rules, examples, and questions * Surface hidden assumptions and edge cases * Align on what the behaviour of a system should actually look like If the previous session was about finding the right problem, this one is about understanding it well enough to build it right. You will also have the opportunity to sketch a scene of the ***Jagdschloos Grunewald***, seen best from across the lake due to ongoing construction. * If this is your first time sketching or 100th time sketching, you can find subjects that are right for you. ***You don’t need to be a professional at all!*** You should just want to practice your sketching skills while meeting new people, and hopefully sketching a bit better than you did the day before. * If this is your first time to Grunewaldsee, please be aware many locals have their dogs off leash in the area. * We will be stopping to do multiple 15 min sketches with the goal of improving our quick sketching skills. ***Quick sketching is a foundational sketching skill*** that seeks to simplify a scene while communicating the necessary details for a viewer to see and feel a scene or detail. This weekend, we’ll be focusing especially on the art of shading, and how it can be used to add a little extra pop to our sketches. Together, participants explore how capitalist working cultures shape our nervous systems toward chronic overwhelm and isolation—and how we can cultivate embodied resistance. **Beyond Overwhelm** relates to embodied learning circles with clear links to social change, aiming to practice together and empower their members to gain agency and take action. This workshop deliberately addresses the body and practicing together as a collective political practice, accessing the collective wisdom of a group. In this workshop, we are going to explore how working cultures under capitalism are creating a sense of overwhelm in our nervous systems, and furthermore, how we can cultivate embodied resistance. The session offers tools for coming out of overwhelm as a foundation for building relational strategies and counteracting individualization; exploring why this is necessary for political agency while refraiming activism. We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome! **The Data-Driven Brand: Using Analytics to Shape Perception** Can you use analytics to improve tacos? This being CBUSDAW, we think the answer is probably “yes”, but we’re not sure how to implement or test this theory. For our April meetup we’ve got Sara Kear, CMO of Condado Tacos, to investigate this delicious question. Sara will explore how she blends quantitative data and qualitative customer feedback to shape brand positioning and drive business decisions. We all know that marketing and analytics go way beyond attribution. Sara will show how Condado uses customer insights to inform product and pricing strategy. She’ll also highlight how Condado leverages customer feedback at scale to influence operational priorities, positioning marketing as the voice of the customer across the organization. In the last 12 years Condado has gone from one location in Columbus to 52 locations across 10 states, so we’re guessing there’s more to that growth than really good guac (though the guac probably helps).
