Debate Night: Personal vs Corporate Ethics
Corporations shape much of the modern world, and behind these corporations are individuals: engineers, managers, marketers, researchers, and countless others whose work contributes, directly or indirectly, to the final product.
This raises a fundamental question about responsibility. When a company produces something harmful, misleading, or ethically questionable, where does accountability lie? Is it confined to leadership and decision-makers only, or does it extend to every individual involved in the process?
A developer writing code for a platform may not control how it is ultimately used. A scientist working for an energy company may not decide corporate strategy. An employee in marketing or administration may be far removed from the core activity that attracts criticism. Yet without these roles, the company could not function.
This debate invites us to explore the nature of ethical responsibility within large organizations. Can morality be separated from one’s professional role, or does it inevitably follow from it? Are individuals morally responsible for outcomes even if they do not control them, or is responsibility something that belongs primarily to institutions?
Join us as we examine the relationship between personal ethics and corporate structures, and question where responsibility truly begins and ends in the modern workplace.
This debate will follow a British Parliamentary format with eight debaters split into **four teams of two.**
Participants who wish to speak are highly encouraged to bring a paper and pen. You are welcome to participate even if you have no prior debating experience.
We aim for debates that are respectful, constructive, and welcoming:
* **Respect ideas and people** Listen actively, stay quiet while others speak, and debate arguments, not identities or beliefs.
* **Be concise and civil** Keep questions short and relevant; avoid hostility, hate speech, or discrimination.
* **Respect boundaries and time** No unwanted advances or suggestive behavior; arrive on time to avoid disrupting the debate.
* **Follow moderators** They guide the discussion and ensure fairness.

***
### **Topics We Cover**
**5\. L’avenir de Cuba**
Transition politique, réforme économique progressive ou stagnation durable ?
***
### **What Makes This Different**
***
### **Why This Forum Exists**
Langues actuellement possibles :
– English
– Français
– Nederlands
– Español
– Italiano
***
### **What We Ask of Participants**
***
### **This is not a dating meetup**
https://chat.whatsapp.com/LX7UkWGZ3UdLQWLBvNdezN
The goal is not exclusivity, but accountability and quality of discussion.
If this format doesn’t suit you, this event may not be the right fit.

Board Game Fun Night @ Hal5 in Kessel-Lo
1. **Always RSVP before attending.**
2. **Limited spots:** RSVP does not guarantee a spot — please check if you're on the main list or the waitlist.
3. **WAITLIST notice:** Please don’t take a spot from someone who signed up in time — only attend if you’re off the waitlist. You may move to the active list if someone cancels, which can happen the day before or even on the day of game night.
4. **Be on time:** If you’re more than 20–25 minutes late, you likely can’t join a table — we won’t restart game explanations for latecomers. You may wait for the next game.
5. **Take care of the games:** The people hosting the evening kindly bring and share their own private — and often quite expensive — games. Please don’t bend the cards (these aren’t just cheap poker decks!), be gentle with the components, and make sure everything goes back neatly in the box.
6. **Be present, not on your phone:** Please give your attention when someone is explaining the rules — especially the person hosting the game, who took the time to prepare and make sure everyone can enjoy it. This is a game night, not just a casual bar hangout, so please respect their effort and the focus of the other players.
7. **No double booking:** On Wednesdays, another game night is organized at the same time by another group, the International House of Leuven (IHL). If you sign up for both events, we will automatically remove you from our list. Please don’t be rude by occupying a spot that someone else could use — respect both communities and let everyone enjoy a fair chance to join.
Wednesday Badminton Mounier (no beginners, competitive)
**First time comers**
Please make sure to read the rules and contact the organizer before! Otherwise you will be moved to waiting list. Apologies for inconvenience but we have to do it to avoid no-shows.
**Games format.**
95% are double games (unless someone needs a break), typically 4 people play together 2 sets and then mix with players from other fields. We play with plastic shuttles - Yonex Mavis 2000 (which are provided).
**Registration**
If it's your first time, please send a private message to the host to confirm. No-shows are taken quite seriously because they unbalance the games a lot. Also once you register please keep an eye on you private messages, in case we need to contact you.
**Players level**
Having players with much less experience often unbalances the game making it much less interesting for more experienced players. We still try to be welcoming.
As a rule of thumb, if you know what a "clear" is, you are welcome to join.
(Note that on Sundays the attitude is a bit more relaxed than on Wednesdays, it's the weekend after all ;) )
Otherwise, feel free to get in touch with me (Timur) and we can see if we can arrange so you and existing players can have good experience playing.
**Price and payments**
The price of participation is EUR 8.95. Payment is on-site in cash, or via payconiq. Info provided during or shortly after the event.
**Cancelations and no-shows**
* Switches and cancellations are free of charge if done more than 50 hours before the start of the matches
* If you cancel within the 50-hour window before the event starts, you will be placed on the wait-list for the next week's event, whether or not a replacement is found. If no replacement is secured, you'll still need to cover your share of the costs.

**A MESSAGE FOR NEWCOMERS:**
*In the three years of hosting this coffee group, I have met many people who struggle with anxieties when coming to an event for the first time. Sometimes, it took them more than one attempt before being able to join.*
*Occasionally, people reach out to me before the event, and I have always been grateful for that as it offers the opportunity to communicate with each other and to find the best and most gentle way for that person to join the group.*
*I would like to encourage everyone who struggles with this to contact me before. It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.*
*In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.*
**THANK YOU AND SEE YOU ALL ON Saturday!**

**Sessions:**
**Session 1:** **What I'll Tell My Kids About K8s Security (Lars Lefebvre, ING):**
What I'll Tell My Kids About K8s Security is a creative and story-driven talk that makes Kubernetes security approachable — even for those who aren't deep in the weeds of K8s. Framed through metaphors and everyday analogies, the talk explores complex security challenges in a fun and memorable way. In the second half, I'll share the story behind an open source tool we built at ING to help teams uncover and understand real-world security issues in their clusters.
*Bio:* Lars is a dedicated Cloud and Application Security Engineer with a strong background in the Cloud Native stack. He’s experienced in managing multi-cloud environments, promoting cloud-native practices, and enhancing security measures in software development lifecycles.
**Session 2:** **K8s-wish and other LLM adventures (Andrew Yourtchenko)**
Can we use LLMs to avoid writing YAML? This talk explores two approaches — a single-shot LLM call and a full agentic loop — using two open source projects, and what each gets right and wrong.
*Bio*: After 25 years at Cisco across three lives — TAC Security, IPv6 technical marketing, and high-performance networking software — Andrew is now building open source agentic AI tools and doing occasional consulting. He is a coauthor of DHCPv6 and other RFCs, and holds 4 US patents.
**Session 3: Kubestronaut Panel** *30 minutes \| Q&A*
Meet a panel of Kubestronauts, some even Golden. We'll kick off with a quick intro to what a Kubestronaut (and Golden Kubestronaut) actually is, then dive straight into an interactive Q&A. Hear about their journey, what the grind really looks like, and what they'd do differently. This session is all about the conversation.
*Bio Olivier Calzi (Golden Kubestronaut):*
From pulling Ethernet cables as a student in France to becoming a Golden Kubestronaut, I have spent 10 years learning the stack from the ground up. Now a Cloud Native Expert with 15 CNCF certifications, I focus on SRE and infrastructure architecture. I'm a firm believer in the "work-study" model and a lifelong student who still finds engineering deeply fun.
*Bio François Duthilleul (Golden Kubestronaut):*
François Duthilleul is a Principal Solutions Architect at Red Hat, leading the security domain in the EMEA Telco CoE, co-author of the OpenShift Security book, and contributing to O-RAN and Sylva standardisation. The first Belgian Golden Kubestronaut and 2025 Top SSA, he brings 15+ years of network cloudification experience — and you'll find him at rock concerts, on a road bike, or talking cloud-native over a craft beer.
*Bio Evelien Schellekens (Kubestronaut):* Evelien is a Principal Solutions Architect at Elastic. She enjoys sharing knowledge through public speaking and interacting with the technical community. She’s passionate about observability and open source technologies like Kubernetes and OpenTelemetry.
Mobile Phone Photography Workshop
Hello everyone,
I’m a photographer and documentary filmmaker, and after many years working in this field, I’ve recently felt the need to create smaller, more personal workshops where people can really learn by doing and take time to explore their creativity.
**On April 11th and 12th,** I’m organizing a 2-day mobile phone photography workshop in **Brussels, Chatelain area** from **10:30 to 15:00** each day.
We’ll spend the time learning how to use our phones more intentionally — working with light, composition, framing, and understanding how to get the most out of the camera settings and retouching apps as **snapseed and lightroom.**
The approach is very practical, with a mix of indoor and outdoor exercises, so you can immediately apply what you learn.
Price is **180 eur** per participant for **2 days workshop** with food included, if you bring a friend or you are a student there is a **15% discount.**
The group will be small **(max 6-8 people)**, which makes it easier to exchange, ask questions, and get individual feedback.
It’s also meant to be a relaxed and creative experience — we’ll take breaks, have some good food, and enjoy the process of seeing things differently through the camera.
If you’re curious about photography, want to improve your images, or just feel like doing something creative for a couple of days, you’re very welcome to join.

AI is changing how art is made. But when does it stop being your work and start being the machine’s?
This month we're going to be doing a panel with with digital image, music, and written word artists, talking about at what point, while using AI in the creation process, does the work become not the artist creation?
We encourage audience participation during this event that will be moderated by Chris Slee.

Data & Analytics Wednesday - The Data-Driven Brand
**The Data-Driven Brand: Using Analytics to Shape Perception**
Can you use analytics to improve tacos? This being CBUSDAW, we think the answer is probably “yes”, but we’re not sure how to implement or test this theory.
For our April meetup we’ve got Sara Kear, CMO of Condado Tacos, to investigate this delicious question. Sara will explore how she blends quantitative data and qualitative customer feedback to shape brand positioning and drive business decisions. We all know that marketing and analytics go way beyond attribution. Sara will show how Condado uses customer insights to inform product and pricing strategy.
She’ll also highlight how Condado leverages customer feedback at scale to influence operational priorities, positioning marketing as the voice of the customer across the organization. In the last 12 years Condado has gone from one location in Columbus to 52 locations across 10 states, so we’re guessing there’s more to that growth than really good guac (though the guac probably helps).
Ultimately, this talk focuses on the intersection of art and science—using data to inform creativity and build a brand that resonates with customers in a measurable way.
**About Our Speaker**
Sara Kear is Chief Marketing Officer at Condado Tacos, where she oversees brand, restaurant design, menu and pricing strategy, off-premise including catering, and customer data strategy. Since joining in 2021, she has helped grow the brand from 19 to 52 locations while building a data-driven marketing organization focused on loyalty and customer insights. Condado has since been named to the Inc. 5000, recognized as Breakout Retailer by Chain Store Age, and consistently ranked among FastCasual’s Top 100 Movers & Shakers.

**Abstract**
GitHub Copilot is powerful, but what if you could scale from a solo AI assistant to an entire team of specialized agents working in parallel? This session introduces Squad: an open-source framework for multi-agent orchestration that lets you define teams of AI agents with specific roles, responsibilities, and expertise.
We'll progress from Copilot basics to the Copilot CLI, explore how Agents add autonomy, and see how Instructions and Skills let you customize agent behavior. Then, the climax: a live demo where a Squad team of 3 agents (Lead, Developer, Tester) stands up and builds a working application in real-time, showcasing true multi-agent collaboration.
Whether you're new to AI or exploring how to scale your use of Copilot, this session will show you what's possible when agents work as a team.
