Wednesday Meet-up in D8
There's been a bit of demand for a meet-up on the south side of the city so we're going to trial a new location.
You'll find us in the main bar.
This is a casual meet up for people who want to play boardgames. Lots of people bring plenty of games and rules will always be explained so don't worry if you're new to the hobby and you don't have anything to bring along or think you won't know how to play.
Late comers always welcome, you just might have to wait a little for a game to open up.
**The meet ups are free of charge but we do ask that people support the bar by buying food and/or drink. The bar is very accommodating to us and it's important that we support them in return. Bringing in outside food or drink is completely unacceptable.**
Check out the comments below where people will say what games they are bringing and express your interest in joining if interested
Abundance Federation Dublin — Platform & Data Infrastructure Working Session
This is the second working session for the Abundance Federation Dublin group. After our February meetup we formed a team of four developers and four data scientists who've been working steadily on the platform and the first public AI dataset pilot. We're now looking to grow the team as the work expands.
**Where we are**
* The Kindness & volunteering platform is live but rough. Profiles, communities, messaging, tasks, quests and incentives all work, but it needs proper attention on both design and architecture before we push it toward a real MVP. Making it easy, coherent and genuinely fun to use matters as much as the engineering underneath — both have to land.
* The first AI dataset pilot (Irish agricultural weed identification, with Transition Year students and adult volunteers) launches later this year. Tooling plans are written; the data team is working through them. The dataset side has real engineering work too — orchestration, pipelines, annotation tooling, and the interfaces volunteers will actually use — so the roles below apply across both teams.
**Who we'd particularly like to meet**
The work right now would especially benefit from:
* UX designers or design-minded developers who care about making real software feel coherent, easy, and enjoyable to use
* Python / Django developers who enjoy growing a real codebase
* Backend developers comfortable with messy real-world systems
* Database architects — we have decisions ahead that would benefit from experienced judgement
* DevOps people who enjoy quietly making things reliable
That said, this is a broad project and there's room for more than just those roles. Frontend developers, data scientists, technical writers, testers, community organisers, and people who just want to help in whatever way makes sense — all welcome. Come along, see what we're doing, and we'll figure out together where you might fit.
People at any stage of their career are welcome. Experience is valuable, but so is persistence and follow-through — on a project like this, the people who keep showing up are the ones who shape what gets built.
**On the night**
* A short walkthrough of where the platform and data work are now (warts and all)
* A clear-eyed look at the design and architectural questions we're working through
* Small-group conversations to figure out what's most useful, what's feasible, and who might want to keep working on what
* Pizza, soft drinks, and an optional pub afterwards for anyone up for it
**Logistics**
* Digital Hub, Dublin
* Wednesday, June 10th, 7–9pm
* Free, in-person, finishing on time at 9pm
* RSVP through Meetup so we can plan numbers
The wider Abundance Federation is a mission-locked civic initiative working on shared digital infrastructure to bring down the cost of essentials over the long term. The platform and the data work are the technical foundations of that — and they'll only be as good as the people who build them.
Come along if you'd like to help shape what gets built.

Board Game Meet Up in Celbridge!
A weekly board game meet up in "Mc Mahon’s Bar and Eatery" which is a pub. We get our own section, it's wheelchair friendly and parking is free! 🙂
Whether you are new or a veteran player you are all are welcome!
General guidelines are:
1. Avoid handing drinks to people OVER a game.
2. We cannot take responsibility in the event of theft so keep your valuables close to you.
3. Strictly over 18+ only.
The "rules" would be:
1. Be respectful to each other.
2. Don't be a creep.
3. Be patient to players of all skill levels.
Failure to be a decent human being\* will jeopardise your participation in future events.
The pub owner is really nice and are letting us use the space so if you can - please buy a tea, coffee or a drink on the night to support them if you can but don't feel obligated to do so.
They also do food so you won't go hungry!
The event starts at 7 PM and everyone is free to play until 11 PM where we'll wrap it up for the cleaners.
Feel free to bring your games, join in on a game if there's space or organise a game here for the upcoming event to get participants. We advertise the games we want to play ahead of time on our discord server, so feel free to check it out. https://discord.gg/xW8WryXmKu
If you get lost or have any questions feel free to message me on WhatsApp at 0858405446.
Just a note for those coming by car from Dublin:
1. I highly recommend using the motorway then driving into the pub. There's a slightly faster way with the back roads but unless you are from the area its not worth the 2 minutes saved since it's barely lit and the bends are somewhat hazardous.
2. Traffic from 5 - 6:30 is horrendous but the roads are clear enough after this time.
Saturday Mafia Session - Social Deduction Game
This event is beginner Friendly. More experienced players are still free to come along. I will explain the rules before the first game at 7:15 so please arrive on time if you're new. The rules may be different than other versions of mafia that you played.
There is limited capacity so we can't accept every RSVP request. If we aren't able to accept your RSVP event please come to a future.

***Celebrating 30 Years of Music, Community, and Harmony.***
**Join us for a landmark musical event as we celebrate three decades of song!**
Thirty years ago, we raised our voices for the first time. Through seasons of growth, shifts in the cultural landscape, and the evolving heartbeat of our community, one thing remained constant: the power of music to unite us. This summer, we invite you to a special anniversary concert, **"Singing in the Changes, We Were There,"** a retrospective and forward-looking journey through the melodies that defined our journey.
**Why You Can’t Miss This:**
● **A Journey Through Time:** Experience a curated repertoire featuring "fan favourites" from the last 30 years, alongside contemporary pieces that signal our future direction.
● **Stories in Song:** Between sets, we’ll share the stories behind the music—reflecting on where we were then and where we are now.
● **Community Reunion:** This isn't just a concert; it’s a homecoming. We welcome back alumni, long-time supporters, and new friends for an evening of connection and celebration.
● **Summer Ambiance:** Enjoy the magic of live choral music in a beautiful summer setting, perfect for families and music lovers alike.
**Event Details:**
● **Date:** Sunday 14th June
● **Doors Open:** 6:00 PM \| **Show Starts:** 7:00 PM
● **Location:** Smock Alley Theatre
From the first note to the final bow, we’ve been there—and we want *you* to be there too. Help us honour our past and sing our way into the next 30 years.
**Reserve your seats today and be a part of the legacy!**

Overview
Celebrate the eccentric and avant-garde spirit of Dadaism and James Joyce with a special Bloomsday Festival cabaret of readings and songs!
Kick off **[The Bloomsday Festival](https://www.bloomsdayfestival.ie/ "https://www.bloomsdayfestival.ie")** celebrations at **[The James Joyce Centre](https://www.jamesjoyce.ie/ "https://www.jamesjoyce.ie")** on **Thursday, 11th June at 8.30pm** with a Joyce-themed cabaret of readings, performance, music and natter, hosted by author **David Collard**.
Last year's gathering **[His Art Belongs to Dada](https://jamesjoyce.ie/events/his-art-belongs-to-dada-a-joycean-cabaret/ "https://jamesjoyce.ie/events/his-art-belongs-to-dada-a-joycean-cabaret/")** celebrated Joyce's links to Zürich (where he wrote much of *Ulysses*) and the anarchic artistic movement known as Dada (which was founded in that city). This year, David returns to the Joyce Centre to host **Dada Deux: A Joycean Cabaret**. We will be joined by novelist **Rónán Hession** (aka **Mumblin' Deaf Ro**), composer **David Bremner**, soprano **Suzanne Savage**, and (live via satellite from Venice, California) Joyce enthusiast and polymath **Gerry Fialka**.
Surprises and beneficial shocks are guaranteed at this informal one-off gathering, with a nod to 1920s Dada cabaret. There will be music, performance, readings, songs, conversation, audience participation -- and maybe a little whiskey. The evening offers a wildly entertaining start to the Bloomsday Festival and will appeal to seasoned Joyceans and newcomers alike. All are welcome!

We believe that emotionally mature, powerful, compassionate, and purpose-driven men will help heal some of society’s deepest wounds. We support the powerful brilliance of men and we are willing to look at, and take full responsibility for, the pain we are also capable of creating – and suffering.
