Suomenlinna is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a classic summer picnic location only 15 minute ferry ride away from downtown Helsinki. **HOW TO FIND US** **Outdoors** ☀️🌻: We meet every Sunday at 15:00 in the Töölönlahti Park, opposite the entrance to Pikku-Finlandia. If you’re walking from Oodi, pass the playground with the big swings and the volleyball court. On the left, you’ll find us in the area with benches, hammocks, and yellow chairs. **Indoors** ⛈️ 🥶: When it's cold or rainy we move to the top floor of the Oodi Library, on the stairs opposite the children’s area. **To everyone who has already participated in our meetups:** We want to make it as easy as possible for newcomers to find us, whether we're meeting outdoors or indoors. If you have any suggestions for how we could improve these directions or make our meeting spots easier to find, we'd greatly appreciate a message. It's a good idea to **keep your sketchbook visible** so others can easily recognize that you're there for the sketching meetup. **HOW IT WORKS** At each meetup, attendees take turns being the model for a quick **10-minute sketch session**. One person poses, everyone else sketches, then we rotate. Attendance varies considerably from week to week. Some Sundays attract a larger group, while on others only a handful of people may attend. **Occasionally, nobody may show up at all.** The organizer is currently not based in Helsinki and does not attend the meetups, so the gathering is entirely community-driven. For this reason, we encourage everyone to participate with an open mind and flexible expectations. Whether you spend the afternoon sketching with many people, just a few, or simply enjoying some focused drawing time on your own, we hope you'll embrace the experience as it is. **WHAT TO BRING** Pencils and paper (or any sketching tools you like). It’s encouraged to bring some props to make drawings more varied and playful. 👘👒💐🍍🫖🏸🤿🎭🎺🔮🧸📣 No fees, no pressure. The only thing we ask is that everyone takes a turn posing for the group. You can sit however feels comfortable for you. We encourage people to experiment with different poses from round to round to keep the drawings interesting, but this isn't a yoga session - there's no expectation to do anything difficult or uncomfortable. ☺️ Draw as much as you like, skip a round if you're tired or just want to chat, and leave whenever it suits you. We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “Create a better world” by helping serve those in need. NOTE: We’re switching it up this time and going with a DINNER shift on Mon, 7/6. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for DINNER from 4:30 to 6:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 4:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area.
