Monday Night MeetUp
Monday Night MeetUp
Our free-of-charge meet-up upstairs in Ryan's Bar. This is a casual meet up for people who want to play boardgames. Lots of people bring plenty of games and rules will always be explained so don't worry if you're new to the hobby and you don't have anything to bring along or think you won't know how to play. Late comers always welcome, you just might have to wait a little for a game to open up. **The meet ups are free of charge but we do ask that people support the bar by buying food and/or drink. The bar is very accommodating to us and it's important that we support them in return. Bringing in outside food or drink is completely unacceptable.** Check out the comments below where people will say what games they are bringing and express your interest in joining if interested.

Python Ireland March 2026 Meetup
Python Ireland March 2026 Meetup
**Talk: Skill Estimation, Agents and the Condorcet Jury theorem.** The Condorcet Jury Theorem promises that groups are smarter than individuals — add more voices, get closer to the truth. But the theorem has a poison pill: it only works when people think independently. In this talk we'll use PyMC to build a Bayesian model that stress-tests collective decision-making, simulating how shared training, correlated thinking, and organisational "alignment" can quietly destroy the engine of collective intelligence. The results raise uncomfortable questions about what happens when everyone's reasoning runs through the same foundation model. If you're interested in Bayesian modelling, probabilistic programming, or just want a principled way to think about the epistemic cost of your AI toolchain, this one's for you. **Author:** Nathaniel Forde [[https://nathanielf.github.io/](https://nathanielf.github.io/)] [I'm an experienced Data-Scientist and Statistician working in tech in Dublin for \~ 10 years] ============================= **Talk: Learning MongoDB CRUD the Agentic Way: A Python Learning Coach in Your IDE.** Instead of another slide deck on CRUD, we’ll turn the MongoDB CRUD Operations Skill Badge into a live, IDE-based learning experience. You’ll see how to use agentskills.io to give a copilot agent concrete MongoDB teaching skills so it can coach you through queries, inserts, updates, and deletes right where you write your code. **Author**: [Manuel Fontan](https://www.linkedin.com/in/manuelfontan/) [I am a Staff Technologist on the Curriculum team at MongoDB. The Talented Mr. Ripley - Bord Gáis Energy Theatre
The Talented Mr. Ripley - Bord Gáis Energy Theatre
\*\*Please book your own ticket [here](https://www.bordgaisenergytheatre.ie/show/the-talented-mr-ripley/). I'm in STALLS, Row M, Seat 25\*\* \*\*For those interested, we can meet for a drink locally beforehand. I'll post the details closer to the event date \*\* Tom Ripley is a nobody – scraping by in New York, forging signatures, telling little white lies—until a chance encounter changes everything. When a wealthy stranger offers him an all-expenses-paid trip to Italy to bring home his wayward son, Dickie Greenleaf, Tom leaps at the opportunity. But in the sun-drenched glamour of 1950s Italy, surrounded by shimmering waters and whispered secrets, Tom is seduced by the life Dickie leads—the freedom, the wealth, the effortless charm. Fascination turns to obsession, and as his grip tightens on Dickie’s world, the lines between truth and deception begin to blur. What starts as an innocent opportunity spirals into a chilling game of lies, identity theft, and murder. The ten-strong ensemble cast is led by **Ed McVey** as Tom Ripley. **Ed** was one of the stars of the hit Netflix show *The Crown*. EastEnders regular and *Strictly Come Dancing* finalist **Maisie Smith** will star alongside him as Marge. This electrifying new stage adaptation of **THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY** brings Patricia Highsmith’s iconic psychological thriller, which inspired the acclaimed movie and Netflix series of the same name, to life like never before. With razor-sharp dialogue, simmering tension, and a dangerously charismatic antihero, this gripping production will pull you into Ripley’s intoxicating world—where nothing is quite as it seems.

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for March is "Our Bodies, Ourselves" Speak Easy: true stories, told live. The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast. Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect. The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
