Hong Kong Stories is here to help you shape and share your stories - be it epic fails or unlikely wins, heartbreaks or meet-cutes, moments of courage or quiet reflection. No practice, no overthinking, just come and tell a story from your life, like you'd tell a friend. A seasoned coach from Hong Kong Stories will facilitate peer feedback to discover what makes your story awesome, and provide clear, actionable tips to help you tell it better. 📌 Story Requirements: 1. Your story must be true 2. It must be told in the first person—you are the main character 3. It should be no longer than 7 minutes (shorter stories are welcome!) You don't need to have a completed or polished story ready -- just a beginning idea is okay. This workshop is open to individuals at all levels, first-timers or old hands. The purpose of Hong Kong Stories is to help you become a better storyteller. Please update your RSVP, ideally 12 hours before the event if you're unable to make it. They can create dwindling spirals of fights and seeking to make-up, or trying to “pin the blame” on someone or something. Using Philosophy to Cope with Current Events
So this month's prompt is more general. I think we can all agree that we are living in "unique" times that require coping skills. I think that one role and/or purpose of philosophy is to help us deal with our daily lives and our "unique" times. So, let's share our feelings and thoughts about which philosopher/philosophy we turn to in order to deal with our crazy events. Who/what helps you stay focused in your daily life and helps you sleep at night. I find that Stoicism with a little philosophical pessimism mixed in goes a long way in helping me deal with what I see as very destructive, fearful and mean spirited public policies at both the state and federal levels.
