CineTour: Father Mother Sister Brother @ Kino de France (EN)
CineTour: Father Mother Sister Brother @ Kino de France (EN)
First and foremost - join our Telegram Channel! [https://t.me/cinetour](https://t.me/cinetour) FATHER MOTHER SISTER BROTHER is a feature film, though carefully constructed in the form of a triptych. The three stories all concern the relationships between adult children, their somewhat distant parent (or parents), and each other. Each of the three chapters takes place in the present, and each in a different country. \*\*\* *HOW* **If you can't find us before/after the movie, write me a PM (Pranav, the host) or post a message in the event chat, I monitor it during the meetup and will pick you up.** We meet at 18:30 at the Cafe Stein (Währinger Str. 6-8) and shortly before the movie we go together to Kino de France. [Buy tickets - Father Mother Sister Brother](https://ticket-cloud.de/Votiv/Show/339036/) We recommend to buy the ticket as soon as possible! Usually, after the movie we just chat a bit about it for a moment in front of the cinema. So don't run away, if you don't have to. #100

Queer Book Club - Fanny & Stella
Queer Book Club - Fanny & Stella
## *ella: The Young Men Who Shocked Victorian England* by Neil McKenna In March, our Queer Book Club turns to history and gender nonconformity with *Fanny & Stella* by Neil McKenna — a gripping true story that challenges the idea that non-binary and gender-expansive lives are a modern phenomenon. We’ll gather at Villa Vida Café to discuss the book together in a relaxed, welcoming setting. **Date:** Sunday, March 8th, 2026 **Time:** 2:00 PM **Location:** Villa Vida Café, Vienna **In collaboration with:** [o*books](o-books.at) & [hint.wien](hint.wien) *** ## About the Book *Fanny & Stella: The Young Men Who Shocked Victorian England* is a meticulously researched historical account of Ernest Boulton and Frederick Park, two Victorian-era performers and friends who lived publicly in feminine clothing and personas known as “Fanny” and “Stella.” In 1870, they were arrested at a London theatre while dressed in women’s clothing and charged with “conspiracy to commit sodomy,” sparking a sensational public trial in 1871. Their case became one of the most talked-about scandals of the time, exposing hidden queer social networks and anxieties around gender, sexuality, and identity in Victorian Britain. Neil McKenna draws from court transcripts, letters, and contemporary reporting to reconstruct their lives, revealing a complex world of performance, friendship, desire, and survival. Rather than framing them as curiosities, the book presents Fanny and Stella as real people navigating rigid social norms while expressing gender in ways that still resonate today. The story offers a powerful reminder that gender diversity has always existed, even when it had no accepted language or safety.
Vienna.rb #67 - Ruby Spring Meetup
Vienna.rb #67 - Ruby Spring Meetup
Join us for the first meetup in 2026! ⭐️ Are you interested in the Ruby language or Ruby on Rails? Join us. We have great talks, good vibes, and yummy snacks! 😋 **Talks** \~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~ 🗣️ [Peter Solnica](https://solnic.dev/) ▶️ Structured Logging in Ruby: Where We Are and Where We're Heading 🗒️ Ruby's logging ecosystem is evolving, and there's a lot of momentum to build on. In this talk, we'll explore the current state of logging in Ruby and compare it with ecosystems like Elixir, where a more capable, well-designed logger is built right into the standard library. We'll dive into recent developments in Rails - including its new structured events API - and how they connect to the broader picture of structured logging, error handling, and tracing. Along the way, we'll build a vision for what Ruby's standard library could offer: a powerful, extendable logger that makes structured logging a natural part of every Ruby project. 🗣️ [Marie-Therese Fischer ](https://fischer.codes/) ▶️ Building Games with Ruby 🗒️ What do you end up with when you strip Rails from a Rails developer? Plain Ruby. Join me as I explore the language behind the framework through the lens of game development. By building a simple terminal game and a 2D platformer, I’ll break down the essential building blocks every game is built on - from loops and input handling to visuals. We'll look at how stepping away from the 'magic' of Rails to build games can lead to a deeper understanding of Ruby logic and application structure. 🗣️ [Christoph Lipautz](https://github.com/unused) ▶️ The Art of Testing Nothing 🗒️ Traditional CI/CD pipelines often waste significant resources re-validating unchanged code, creating a bottleneck in the development lifecycle. This session explores the results of my attempts to shift from exhaustive execution to smart omission. I'll discuss how doing nothing turns into a technical strategic advantage while maintaining confidence. **Location** **\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~** Mariahilfer Str. 97/4, 1060 Wien **Sponsors** \~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~ ⭐ [Meister](https://www.meisterlabs.com/jobs/) Founded in 2006 by Till Vollmer and Michael Hollauf, Meister’s journey from start-up to scale-up has been a story of continual growth. What started with a vision to create a simple visual mind-mapping tool has become not one but two collaborative tools that help teams everywhere focus on the work that matters. Thank you to Meister for hosting and providing us with refreshments and snacks! 🙌 \~\~\~ ⭐ Looking to sponsor or give a talk? We are looking for sponsors and speakers. Making Moves: Small-Group Coaching for Women in Product
Making Moves: Small-Group Coaching for Women in Product
## Hey Columbus WIP peeps! ## Are you ready for an event that actually gives you what you asked for?? **\-\-\-\-\-\-** **A Small-group coaching conversations for women in product navigating growth, leadership, and career decisions.** **March 10 \| 5:30–8:00 PM** **Rev1 -- NEW SPACE** **330 Rush Alley #100** **Parking Options:** • **Rev1 at The Peninsula** • **Starling St. Garage South** – 377 W. Capital St. • **LAZ Parking (COSI)** – 50 Belle St. • **LAZ Parking Limited** – 375 W. State St. • **Veterans Memorial Lot** – 300 W. Broad St. • **Metered Street Parking** **What moves are you making?** A promotion you’re working toward. A role change you’re considering. A bigger leadership opportunity. A conversation that needs to happen. A decision that’s been sitting in the back of your mind. For our Q1 Women in Product Columbus event, we’re creating space to actually work through those moments. **Making Moves** is an evening of focused, facilitated coaching conversations with experienced mentors from our local product community. This isn’t a panel. It’s not passive networking. It’s small-group dialogue designed to be thoughtful, practical, and worth your time. Here’s how it will work: • You’ll choose a topic that reflects what you’re navigating right now • You’ll join a small coaching circle (5–7 participants) • Each circle is led by a mentor who has lived experience in that area • We’ll run two rounds so you can go deeper or explore a second conversation ### Coaching Topics: • Communicating the Value of Your Work (or Team) • Career Transitions & What’s Next • Growing Into Leadership • Staying Relevant as Technology (and AI) Changes • Getting Alignment and Decisions from Leadership Our goal is simple: you leave with clearer thinking, practical perspective, and at least one next step you feel confident about. Space in each circle will be limited to keep conversations meaningful. If this sounds like the kind of room you’ve been wanting to be in, we’d love to see you on March 10. RSVP here! Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
Humanist Program: Fighting the Efforts to Insert Religion into Public Education
The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the landscape — and practical ways to get involved. Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. Data & Analytics Wednesday - Google Analytics Alternatives
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Google Analytics Alternatives
**Google Analytics Alternatives** Is it finally time to make the switch away from Google Analytics? Two-and-a-half years ago Jason Packer asked this question at Columbus Web Analytics Wednesday. Since then: Google’s Universal Analytics has been sunset, we’ve changed our name to Columbus Data & Analytics Wednesday, and Jason has released two editions of his book “Google Analytics Alternatives”. Fresh off the release of the 2nd edition of his book, we thought it was time to re-open this conversation. While people love to complain about it, GA’s market share has remained relatively constant (at least in the United States). Why is that? You won’t find any complaints about GA4 in this talk, but rather an overview of what’s currently available in the market and how to frame your decision-making process. We’ll also be giving out some free copies of Jason’s book! So even if you’ve got a “GA4Lyfe” tattoo (no judgement), there’s free books to go with the free pizza and beer.
