A walk down Del Ray's Holiday Card Lane
A walk down Del Ray's Holiday Card Lane
Alexandria's Del Ray neighborhood loves the holidays. Every year, neighbors create huge plywood holiday cards - many of them featuring their pets -- there are also Star Wars, Ted Lasso and lots of llama themed cards :). While the cards have popped up throughout the neighborhood, they are concentrated on East Luray and East Alexandria Avenues -- https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/alexandria-del-ray/2020/12/15/2a11ef2e-3ef8-11eb-8bc0-ae155bee4aff_story.html Let's take our Aussies on a stroll down Del Ray's Holiday Card Lane. We will start at 409 East Nelson Avenue at one of the neighborhood's iconic holiday houses and then walk down East Luray and back up East Alexandria. It's an easy and fun walk and at a slow pace should not take more than an hour. Then if you like, explore dog-friendly Del Ray. This is an on leash event. As we get closer to the event we will post restaurants that have heated patios and are dog-friendly.

Rockville Drawing and Coffee Weekly Session - NOTE: no Host 12/20 & 27 and 1/3
**NOTE: no Host 12/20 & 27 and 1/3 (Michael might be present part of 12/20, but otherwise, on Christmas vacation)** _Coordinate on comments here, in comments, or on Discord in the #events channel_ DM me with questions if necessary. ########## Expect a fun afternoon of drawing and socializing with like-minded artists! Although each Session is 3 hours, feel free to drop in as your schedule permits. This is a casual gathering, and we know that people might only be able to stay a little while -- drop in, and stay, as long as you are having fun, and as your day allows. **Note: about RSVP's, please respect the RSVP process. If you RSVP YES, you are commited and we are all looking to seeing you. If your plans change however, that's OK, but please be courteous and change your RSVP to NO. We are reaching the headcount limit regularly now and it is rude to take a spot and not relinquish it if your plans change... Respect others; don't be rude. Thank you for your cooperation**. All skill levels are welcome -- this is not a competition. This Group and all its Events are intended to be in equal parts, Drawing/Art AND Socializing. As such, conversation is expected and encouraged. ***However, in all cases, please refrain from discussion of Political topics.*** Our goal is enjoyment, in the form of drawing together while socializing, and political conversation is too polarizing for that to happen. We are looking forward to seeing you there! **Note (in parting): Be aware, and keep in mind that our group, meeting as it does at Starbucks, depends on this business's generosity for the space it allows us. As such, please make a point of purchasing something from the business to express our appreciation as a group using their facility. If you are experiencing hardship and can't afford a modest purchase, get my attention discreetly, and arrangements will be made with no judgment whatsoever. Thank you for your understanding... Location: Asian Collection Parking area (this is a small lot by the Asian Collection and Dogwoods, not the main parking area). If the lot is full you can park just a little ways away at the Dogwood Collection The walk starting at 9am with be on-leash . If anyone wants to go to river for some off leash play first, the gate opens at 8:30. If no one else is around, those who are comfortable can let their dogs run around off-leash in a big field for 10 -15min. At 9am we will meet near the Asian collection parking and do an on-leash big loop around the arboretum. Since it's the holidays, during the walk we will visit then evergreen and holly collections. Our half way point will be at the old Capitol Columns. There we will take a water break and take some pictures. After the break we can walk back to the parking area, or for those who'd like to stay longer there are many other areas to explore! This will be a mix of walking on pavement and on dirt/grass.
