If your plans change and you are unable to attend, please update your RSVP. Regular no-show or late notices may get you dropped from the group. It is important that we can provide an accurate count to the venue and that all people who want to AND can attend can do so. **We ask all attendees to pay $1 to participate in the meetup.** This money helps maintain our meetup membership & cover various meetup costs that arise. JOIN OUR NEW SOCIAL MAHJONGG LEAGUE for weekly game play based on the NMJL (American-style) Mahjongg rules — PLUS some exciting and fun extras, such as more robust games, a completely new new scoring system, and the addition of the MAD JOKER, which can be used for any tile — even pairs and singles! The season consists of 8 weeks of sessions (1x a week) on Wednesdays from January 7 through February 25, 2026 Each session consists of 4 games, some with special themes and/or hands. All players receive a score based on winning with mahjongg — or being close. Awards will be presented at the end of the season for high scores and special categories. We will be meeting at Starbucks to learn together. Come with an online class you're already going through or an interest and we will try to connect you with a course where you can learn it. We will draw together at the National Portrait Gallery next. We will meet in the Kogod Courtyard space which is wonderful and has great light. The museum is full of amazing things to get your creativity going. We will all reconvene at 3:30 to share our drawings if people feel comfortable with that. See you there.
