This is an enjoyable hike with the Lake, lots of graceful full growth trees and the fun of winding through multiple trails in this relatively compact Park. The Hike route is about 7 miles with 460 feet of elevation. The Hike route is a loop consisting primarily of dirt trails. We will start at the Bike Lane Brewing &Café, at 11150 Sunset Hills, Reston VA 20190. The Bike Shop and Brewery is adjacent to Lake Fairfax Park and for those interested, we can enjoy a beer after the hike. You must be experienced with hikes of this length and elevation gain. We hike at a pace of approximately 2.5 -3.0 mph while moving. Restrooms are available at the start point and at our break point during the hike. Dogs are welcome on this hike in accordance with the NVHC Dog Policy. E-biking From Veirs Mill to Lake Needwood via Meadowside Nature Center

We will be e-biking from Veirs Mill to Lake Needwood via Lake Bernard Frank and Meadowside Nature Center. The trail is around 17 miles. Toilets are available in the middle. It includes an optional half-mile excursion on foot to the Pioneer Homestead at Meadowside Nature Center. Please bring some snacks, lunch, and plenty of water. You can leave the bike at the nature center or stay with your e-bike. We will have bike guards if someone volunteers. Pioneer Homestead Located about a half-mile from the Meadowside Nature Center, this site includes two log cabins, a smokehouse, a corn crib, gardens, and an orchard. This is a 4 day dance event in Washington DC. This is the largest dance event for West Coast Swing on the east Coast. All the top professionals will be there giving workshops and competing. There is a beginner track for people who are new to West Coast Swing. Event weekends are definitely a great way to take your dancing to the next level. I know we have a few people in our group that is new to West Coast Swing so this post is also meant to let you know what is out there. The Rockville Bike Advisory Committee meets the first Wednesday of each month from 7 pm to 9 pm. Are you a bike enthusiast? Are you interested in the bikeways in Rockville? Would you like to see more trails or bike lanes? Would you like to make a difference on how the bikeways are maintained? Then join RBAC! Since its creation, our volunteer committee has held regularly scheduled meetings throughout the year, carried out its mandated tasks, and has become an important and valuable resource to the City on bicycling issues. The active participation of the RBAC is vital to Rockville's continued success in implementing the Bikeway Master Plan Update and in improving conditions for bicycling in the City. RBAC members are working with the City to help with these goals and serve as liaisons to interested residents. **RBAC's Mission** ([http://www.rockvillemd.gov/index.aspx?nid=327](http://www.rockvillemd.gov/index.aspx?nid=327)): The committee's mandate for action includes the following tasks: •Assist in the development of the City's bicycle and pedestrian specific policies, as well as other policies that affect the conditions for bicycling in the City; •Oversee the implementation of the City’s Bikeway Master Plan Update and report progress toward completion to the Mayor and City Council; •Review current and proposed CIP projects to ensure bicycle needs are incorporated into design and construction when appropriate; and •Deliver updates on the needs and desires of bicyclists in the community, with recommendations for action to the Mayor and City Council.
