TFS Presents a Masquerade &Mayhem Double Feature
TFS Presents a Masquerade &Mayhem Double Feature
Two classic comedies. Two stories of disguise, performance, and what happens when identity refuses to stay neatly contained. From the sun- soaked chaos of Saint-Tropez to the rapid-fire brilliance of classic Hollywood, La Cage aux Folles and Some Like It Hot use humour to push boundaries, challenge expectations, and deliver some of the most memorable characters in film history. Smart, stylish, and still ahead of their time, this is comedy with something to say, and exactly the kind of double feature that comes alive on the big screen with a crowd! Purchase Tickets Here:

SFF Meets Romance
While we may be one of the largest local writing communities, we're not the only game in town! Join us for a get together with the Toronto Romance Writers. There's definitely overlap between our genres (romantasy, anyone?), so this is a great opportunity to meet local writers in a slightly but not too different field. We'll be meeting at The Fox and the Fiddle location near Pape Station.

In-Person Writing Sprints
In-Person Writing Sprints
Struggling with motivation and focus as you hammer away on your manuscript at home? Want to join a community of writers as we embrace the joys and pains (mostly pains) of writing together? Bring your laptop, pen & paper, old-school typewriter, or futuristic writing gadget, and join an enthusiastic community of science fiction and fantasy writers as we work on our current projects in the same space. The format will be similar to our online writing sprints: 30-minute blocks of focused, quiet writing time (the sprints), interspersed with breaks where we can chat, ask questions, and share our writing experiences.

Riverdale Park 5K Run / Walk / Jog
Riverdale Park 5K Run / Walk / Jog
5K every week till the snows come down! Or try to! We'll meet by the track. I'll be there early to warm up. We will start the 5K exactly at 9:30am. As mentioned in the About Us, * Using the park track we can all go at our own pace and never really be left behind unless we all finish way ahead of you. :D I think an hour is enough time to dedicate to the run. I'm pretty slow, so you will likely have me around for most of the hour. * Members are free to leave the run whenever they want. * Bring your kids, your pets, your partners, etc. * All encouraged to stick around afterwards and enjoy the park or neighbourhood on your own. * Let's get stronger, healthier and foster a great community at the same time. We also welcome runners who are not in our neighbourhood and want to join us spiritually and run from their own neighbourhoods. :-) Imagine how much healthier and communal the world would be if we all stopped for an hour once in a while to run together; re-centring and re-charging together?
New York City Book Club: Circe
New York City Book Club: Circe
**🍵 Book Discussion Group: Circe by Madeline Miller · Just Bring Yourself** This meetup brings the group together to read from and discuss Madeline Miller's Circe in a casual and welcoming atmosphere, and a good chat is guaranteed. Discussion flows wherever the group takes it — with the conversation often surprising even long-time members, and the format rewards curiosity over expertise. No requirement to finish — come wherever you are in the book, and hold onto your strongest reaction to the text, and bring your reading notes — since every perspective adds something the group would not have without you. You do not need to have been before — and the group tends to make first-timers feel at ease very quickly, nothing beyond the book and your thoughts is needed, and the discussion gets richer with every new reader who joins. --- 🌟 Every book grows when you bring it into a room full of readers — RSVP and come ready to talk and the conversation is always worth showing up for. The evening is better when you are in it. 🌟

**💡 Reading Meetup: Circe by Madeline Miller • Casual and Friendly** The book club is meeting to open up a conversation around the thought-provoking Circe by Madeline Miller with a friendly group who enjoy good conversation, and everyone leaves with something new to think about. The format is relaxed and member-led — with all opinions treated as equally valid, and the energy in the room tends to build as the evening goes on. Come however far through the book you are, and note any characters or moments you want to unpack, and bring your reading notes — because the book looks completely different through a new set of eyes. You do not need to have been before — and no introduction is required beyond showing up, your presence is the only requirement, and the relaxed setting means there is no pressure on you. --- **The session at a glance:** - Introductions are short and the book takes over within the first few minutes - Discussion opens with an initial question and flows from there without a set agenda - At some point toward the end the group votes on or suggests next month's read 💡 **Before the session:** mark the page you most want to talk about, because having one concrete thing to say takes the pressure off everything else, and the rest of the conversation will take care of itself. --- ☕ A good discussion is worth fifty pages of rereading — come along and join a conversation worth having and the discussion takes it from there. See you at the table. ☕

**🦋 Neighbourhood Read: Circe by Madeline Miller • Relaxed and Inclusive** We're meeting up to open up a conversation around Circe, our selection by Madeline Miller in a friendly low-key environment, and there is always more to discover in a good book together. No requirement to finish — come wherever you are in the book, and note any characters or moments you want to unpack, and bring your reading experience — since there is no wrong reading and every response is worth hearing. The evening is shaped by who is in the room — with the conversation moving where it naturally wants to go, and the most interesting moments never come from the planned questions. Every session is a good first session — and regular members are consistently enthusiastic about welcoming new readers, the only requirement is showing up ready to talk, and first-timers rarely feel like first-timers for long. ⭐ *"The group is warm and the conversation is always great — the discussion always produces at least one reading I had not considered"* – new to the group --- 💬 A great discussion changes how you see a great book — sign up and bring your reading experience however partial and the rest sorts itself out in the room. The group grows every time someone new joins. 💬

Bad Girls Book Club July 2026
Bad Girls Book Club July 2026
**Our July novel is: *Listen for the Lie* by Amy Tintera** **This month’s novel was named one of the best books of 2024. It’s a domestic thriller with crime, mystery, and murder, told from women’s perspectives. The story includes a detective, an unreliable narrator, and plenty of suspense. The book is 352 pages in print and 9 hours and 18 minutes on audiobook.** What if you thought you murdered your best friend? And if everyone else thought so too? And what if the truth doesn't matter? After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life. But now the phenomenally huge hit true crime podcast "Listen for the Lie," and its too-good looking host Ben Owens, have decided to investigate Savvy’s murder for the show’s second season. Lucy is forced to return to the place she vowed never to set foot in again to solve her friend’s murder, even if she is the one that did it. The truth is out there, if we just listen.
Stalker
Stalker
Based on the novel Roadside Picnic, it is NO picnic, but rather one of the masterpieces of world cinema. Andrei Tarkovsky's 1979 Soviet sci-fi classic, recounts the expedition of a writer and professor led by a mysterious guide called "The Stalker." to a futuristic wasteland called "The Zone." Dripping with existential dread, it continually presents strange occurrences that will have us debating the meaning of what we've just viewed right through the ending. *Stalker* (1979) can be streamed for free on HBOMax, the Criterion Channel or Kanopy. It's also available for rent on Amazon Prime and AppleTV. The Columbus Library has two copies on disc.

Columbus Arduino Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts (CARPE) (Check Location)
Bring your Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontroller, or any other electronic project and join fellow electronics makers for a night of creativity and collaboration! This session is open forum to share your current projects—whether complete or in progress, it’s all interesting! Whether you’re deep into embedded systems, exploring new ideas, or just getting started, you’ll find a welcoming space to collaborate, share, and get inspired. **New to electronics or curious about tinkering?** You’re absolutely welcome. If you’re a beginner and want to experiment, I’ll have a couple of starter kits available so you can try things out—whether that’s blinking your first LED, putting something on a display, or experimenting with simple sensors. No pressure and no experience required—just an interest in learning and building. While we continue to pursue a more permanent venue for this Meetup, we’ll be using public library facilities based on availability.
