🥞🎉 13th ANNUAL PANCAKE TUESDAY DINNER! 🎉🥞
🥞🎉 **13th ANNUAL PANCAKE TUESDAY DINNER!** 🎉🥞
**A Social + Friends-Making Night (and a Very Good Excuse to Eat Pancakes)**
Why stay home when you can come out for **PANCAKES on Pancake Tuesday (Shrove Tuesday)**? 🥞✨
This delicious tradition happens the night before Lent — a time when, historically, people used up all the *butter, sugar, and sweet things* before giving something up for 40 days. (You do **not** have to be Catholic — it’s just a fun tradition I grew up with… and honestly, pancakes are reason enough.)
It’s a weeknight, it’s cozy, it’s social, and it’s the perfect excuse to gather, laugh, and make new friends over a plate of fluffy goodness. 🧈🍯
👉 **Please note:** You don’t *have* to order pancakes…
…but it’s **highly encouraged** 😉🥞

We invite all new immigrants, English language students, visitors to Canada, parents of children temporarily attending schools in Toronto, foreign university students, and anyone looking to enhance their language skills. We aim to build a welcoming community where friendships can flourish, help participants establish meaningful connections, learn about life in Toronto, and access practical resources like resume and interview preparation, shopping tips, and guidance on setting up home services or navigating government offices.
We begin every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with a time to socialize and connect. Our formal program begins at 10:30 a.m., and each week we will have different activities and topics, including practicing English conversation, reading short articles, learning about common pronunciation and grammar mistakes made by ESL speakers, etc. Our volunteers would love to get to know you and offer gentle and constructive feedback to help you improve your English!
We also offer Individual career mentoring, including job search, mock job interviews, and helping you improve your resumes and cover letters.

We are going to Chinatown to their New Year's festival. We will first meet INSIDE St. Patrick subway station where you pay your fare. 🚊✨The Eglinton Crosstown Adventure + Brunch! 🥂🥞
# 🚊✨ FIRST RIDE: The Eglinton Crosstown Adventure + Brunch! 🥂🥞
We’ve waited YEARS for this moment… and now it’s finally here.
So let’s do something a little different. A little unique. A little “only our group would do this.” 😄
We’re riding the **first stretch of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT** from **Kennedy Station to Eglinton Station** — about a 40-minute ride (fingers crossed 🤞). And we’re not rushing. We’re not commuting. We’re not stressed about missing our stop.
We’re just… riding. 🚊💛
Sitting back. Taking it all in. Watching the city glide by. Chatting. Laughing. People-watching. Experiencing a brand-new piece of Toronto history together.
Because honestly? There’s something kind of magical about riding transit with no agenda — just connection and curiosity.
And when we arrive?
We reward ourselves with **brunch at The Pickle Barrel**. 🍳🥓☕

New train. Great company. Brunch.
Tell me that’s not a perfect weekend plan.

Speak Easy (Storytelling)
The topic for February is "Transitions"
Speak Easy: true stories, told live.
The idea is simple: an audience, an open microphone, and great stories. Hilarious, gripping, poignant- it's up to you. Audiences are invited to come to listen or come to tell as folks from all corners of Columbus offer their stories live on stage! Held at Wild Goose Creative's warm, intimate space, this night of tales occurs on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:00 pm. Please arrive early if you want to tell, as we generally only have room for a limited number of tellers, and the sign-up sheet has a tendency to fill up fast.
Formed around the idea that people need stories--they're what hold and draw us together--SpeakEasy celebrates the strangeness and commonness of being human. And in a world of smartphones, Facebook, Twitter, and more . . . it gives people a real, breathing, in-person way to connect.
The night is geared for true stories of all kinds, taking the best tales told around kitchen tables, in darkened pubs, on the street corner, and at late-night parties and giving them an audience. Speak Easy is also a great outlet for performers, writers, and artists looking to share their favorite stories and perfect their skills. We strongly encourage tellers to please tell the story rather than read it so we keep within the spirit of good storytelling and stay engaged with the audience. All are welcome. Hang around after the show for a drink and build community!
Mangia at Carfagna's!
Let's gather for lunch at Carfagna's followed by an optional stop in Carfagna's Market to check out the tastes and smells of Italy.
Carfagna's address is 1440 Gemini Pl, Columbus, OH 43240
Free In-person Meeting: Unwanted Emotions & Loneliness, How to Get Over Them
This is an in-person meeting.
Did you know that unwanted emotions like loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, anger, fear, anxiety, or feelings of irritation don’t just fall on you for no reason. They are not random occurrences that simply happen to people's minds. They are definitely not chemical imbalance in your brain due to some nebulous chemical reactions by chance.
Your negative emotions are the symptoms of the painful experiences that you have which are not healed, and which are still affecting you.
The effects of these painful experiences are exacerbated by the pressures or difficulties of the other problems in your life.
For instance, let's say you are already carrying a huge load on your back, then you cannot take on much more, but, let's say something else happens to you, such as the difficulties from the Pandemic, then the resultant combined weight on you can take you over the edge, kind of like the straw that break the camel's back. When this happens, people's attention usually goes to the straw that was added, but actually the majority of the weight had come from the huge load that were already there, holding a person down and causing a person issues.
So how do you remove the huge load that was already there? How do you lighten them up? Is it possible to get rid of them?
That is what this meeting will be all about.
Come to our Meetup, where we can introduce you to some of the knowledge, tools and techniques of the breakthroughs in the field of the mind that we can apply to this ever important area of life.
Be sure to click on the red "Attend" button below to come to this local event. We look forward to seeing you there.
This group is created by the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center of Central Ohio.
