Burgundy is the most famous, most terroir-specific, and most expensive wine region in the world for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Top wines can cost hundreds of pounds a bottle, but for ordinary wine lovers without a hedge fund to lean on there are sources of delicious, quality wines to be found. 'Affordable' Burgundy does exist! The tasting will start off with 2 bottles of Cremant de Bourgogne, sparkling wine made in the traditional method, Then we'll taste 4 whites and 4 reds from all the main sub-regions of Burgundy - Chablis, Cote D'or, Cote Chalonaise and Macon. Numbers will be limited to 12 people seated round one table, so almost a bottle of fine wine per person. Beautifully structured, the palate is chalky and displays tart green apple, wildflowers and lemon pith flavors with a crisp finish. **2000 Château Piron Montagne-Saint-Émilion - Merlot - Cab. Sauv.** CT – 94 Pts - Medium ruby color intensity, with a slight browning on around the rim. Pronounced aromas and flavors of plum, cedar, mushrooms and earth. Tannins are slight at this point. Soil: Very stony alluvial terraces and steep hillsides. Aroma: Bouquet of violets and red fruits in its youth, then evolving towards nuances of undergrowth, cloves and tobacco. Tannins: Velvety and soft. Taste: Fleshy palate. It gives a spicy and harmonious finish from the exceptional Terrior of the Dentelles de Montmiral Massif.

**Starliner Diner -** We'll shut down wine club at 8 pm this evening and take a short walk to our neighborhood eclectic eatery - Starliner Diner. Join us after wine club for a snack or meal. Starliner is a longtime favorite in Hilliard. Please RSVP early AND Please let me know in the comments if you plan to join us after at the diner so I can have accurate numbers for the reservations. **On Freestyle night** \- just bring a bottle to share\.
