Collaborative Modeling Meetup - EventStorming Deep Dive, Part 2
For 2026, we are starting a new series of EventStorming deep dives. These will be like coding katas, except there's no coding, only sticky notes. In each of these sessions, we will explore a nuance of the EventStorming technique that we don't normally have time to go into during a more general workshop. What are we exploring this time? You'll have to show up to find out.
As always, everyone is welcome. You don't need to be a software engineer to participate. In fact, it would be great to have more people who aren't software engineers. We're here to solve problems cross-functionally, not get into implementation details. As long as you care passionately about getting things right, then you belong here!
This is a hands-on workshop. Be prepared to participate fully and add to the energy of the room. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Neurodivergent Creative Tuesdays - Painting Workshop!

This event is designed to be a safe space where you can freely express your creativity without fear of judgment or criticism.
We will painting together in little cardboard canvases that you can take home after or leave them with me. We will be using acrylic paint, gouache, glitter, stickers, anything goes!
What will you paint, you ask? Well...
I will provide you with a bunch of photo references but you are free to go off script!!
**There is a donation of a minimum of 4-5 euros to cover the materials and space.**

Session 16: Free Will
Hi!
Welcome to Thought Experiments in Pubs - Berlin edition, where you get to have deep conversations with people you've never met.
The topic will be free will. I'll post comment on the day for the thought experiments.
**Location:** [Atopia Kaffeehaus, Prenzlauer Allee 187, 10405 Berlin](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ukuup9CTrmedrB6f9)
* Please consider that the locations we visit do not charge us for our booking, so in return, please make sure to show your appreciation by buying drinks or snacks. 🍻
* If you're signed up but can't make the event, please cancel so someone else can take your spot 🙏
* Make sure you check the right address, there is a sister pub nearby and it's not that one ☝️
**The idea:**
A chance to meet and talk at a 'deeper' level, and skip the 'small talk'.
**How will it work?**
We will have a set of 'Thought Experiments', short, philosophical scenarios and questions, which will be discussed in groups. The conversation will flow freely, there are no strict rules, simply share and discuss your perspectives on the given topic. The thought experiments will be posted here ahead of the event.
**Who should come?**
Everyone! We believe that the more perspectives, the richer the conversation. This group is not about being experts in philosophy, it is about *doing* philosophy. That is, bringing our various life experiences and lenses on the world to group discussions about the human experience, the nature of reality... etc.
**Do I need to bring anything?**
No! Just an open, inquisitive mind.
We will do 3 rounds of discussions. After the event, I would love to hear your feedback on the session.
The thought experiments we will discuss are around the theme of the day. Prompts will be posted here on the day of the event.
See you soon!
\- Dirk

The new product skill is not prompting. It's taste.
**Here's what nobody tells you about the AI age in product work: it didn't solve our hardest problem. It actually made it worse.** When execution was expensive, bad ideas died naturally through friction. We couldn't explore every direction, so we got really good at being ruthless about what actually deserved to get built. But now? AI has made execution ridiculously cheap. You can write specs in minutes, spin up prototypes in hours, and often code practically writes itself. No question that you can produce 10x more output than you could before. But here's the thing: in our craft, **producing 10x more doesn't mean you're creating 10x more value.**
Most conversations about AI and product management obsess over tactics - how can you prompt better? What AI features could you ship? How can you ship faster? But the truth is that speed isn't the competitive advantage in our industry anymore. Judgment is. **The product builders who'll define the next decade aren't the ones generating more output or ideas - they're the ones who can stand in front of infinite plausible options and point to the one that matters.**
Join us on February 5th as Akash Kedia takes a fresh look at what AI really changes in product work. Building is indeed easier than ever, which means judgment matters more than ever, too. When everything is fast, bad decisions ship just as easily as good ones. If you've felt the discomfort of infinite options but zero clarity, and you're ready to think harder about what good judgment actually looks like, this one's for you!
Thank you to our host **N26** for making this event possible.

PBerg engineers - monthly meetup
**This is 100% non-profit. The 15€ sign up fee for everyone is only to minimize last-minute cancellations. The total sum goes to a bar-tap that everyone can use to order drinks until the amount is used up. ‼️NO REFUNDS‼️**
**‼️Please don't just show up without RSVPing here and paying the 15€. We have a separate room that has limited capacity and a specific drinks agreement with the bar - so splitting up the bill won't become a mess.‼️**
**Small update on how your money get's used from May 2024 onwards:** As of this month, meetup.com has started charging me 34€ instead of 16€ per month. I've decided to distribute this fee evenly among all us participants every month. Example: In the last 12 meetups, the average number of attendees was 17. With 17 attendees I would effectively collect 230€ (after fees). I would now substract 34€ leaving us with 196€ that go to the bar. 15% get's tipped to the wait staff, in this case 30€, leaving us with 166€ effectively to order drinks. Hope everyone is cool with this system. :)

Data products are not a new concept. For years, organisations have talked about treating data as a product — with clear ownership, well-defined interfaces, and measurable business value. And yet, many teams continue to struggle with fragmented dashboards, inconsistent metrics, and slow, reactive delivery.
So why is this still so difficult?
In this meetup, we’ll unpack why data products remain hard in practice — not because teams lack tools or frameworks, but because meaning, ownership, and operating models are often misunderstood or only partially implemented.
Through in-depth practitioner talks and discussion, we’ll explore:
* Why data initiatives often slip back into project mode
* Where ownership breaks down across domains and platforms
* How weak semantics and unclear definitions erode trust
* What changes when data products are treated as long-lived products rather than delivery artefacts
* Why AI and advanced analytics amplify these challenges instead of solving them
The conversation is grounded in real delivery experience across engineering, architecture, and data strategy. It also features insights from Amy Raygada’s newly released book, which captures lessons learned from years of hands-on work helping organisations move from intent to execution.
Expect practical perspectives, honest trade-offs, and an open discussion — not hype, not vendor pitches, and no one-size-fits-all answers.

Chitta Walks - Awareness in Motion
Chitta Walks is for people whose days move fast, while the mind never fully lands. Thoughts keep looping even when nothing is urgent. The body moves, but attention is elsewhere. Over time, this disconnect drains clarity and ease.
This walk is a simple reset.
We meet in Berlin’s Tiergarten and walk at a gentle pace. Parts of the walk are in silence, with light guidance and a few short prompts. The walk itself is the practice, bringing body and mind back into the same moment.
No apps. No performance. Just a clear space to slow down and notice what is happening.
If you want to slow down without withdrawing from life, join a Chitta Walk.
✨ **What to expect (approx. 90 minutes):**
* A short arrival and orientation
* A guided silent walk (phones off, no conversation)
* One concise science-based impulse on attention or stress
* Optional reflection in pairs or small groups
* A simple takeaway or experiment for daily life
🚶**Who this is for:**
* Professionals, creatives, and people in transition.
* People who feel mentally busy and want more clarity and balance.
* Those curious about mindfulness, but grounded and practical.
* Anyone comfortable with silence and gentle self observation.
🔔 **Practical notes:**
* Duration: 60-90 minutes
* Wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
* No prior experience needed
* Group size is limited to keep the space quiet and focused
🧭 **Facilitator:**
My name is Partha Sarathi, you can call me PS. I have lived in Berlin for over 12 years. With a background in physics and materials science, my interest in mindfulness grew through personal experience with stress and health challenges. I facilitate the space and structure of the walk, inviting shared exploration rather than instruction.
🤔 **Why Chitta Walks?**
Chitta is a Sanskrit word referring to the mind or field of awareness, used here in a practical, non-religious sense.
Chitta Walks is about noticing how the mind works by slowing down and walking together. Mindful walking makes thought patterns visible in real time, while moving and sensing in the world.
The name points to a simple capacity: noticing what is happening in the mind without immediately trying to fix, judge, or optimize it.
🌿 **Possible effects:**
A calmer nervous system.
Clearer attention.
A felt sense of being more present in your body.
Subtle insights into how your mind reacts under everyday conditions.
A quieter, more grounded way of moving through the city.
**Come as you are. Walk. Notice. Leave with a little more space inside.**

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Compensation Data
**People Analytics 101: Making Sense of Compensation Data**
Compensation data is one of the most widely used and widely misunderstood forms of people analytics.
The session will cover where compensation data comes from, including market pricing data, internal payroll data, and benchmarking sources, and how companies think about structuring and analyzing that information. We will explore how compensation data is leveraged to set salary ranges, manage internal equity, support hiring and retention, and align pay with business strategy. A portion of the session will address common data challenges and limitations, such as market noise, inconsistent job matching, and incomplete datasets, while keeping the primary focus on practical use rather than technical depth.
The session will also look ahead at where the space is going, including the growing impact of pay transparency laws, expanding pay equity requirements, and emerging regulations in the US and Europe that require organizations to report on gender and pay gaps. The goal is to give attendees a clear mental model for how compensation analytics works today and why getting it right is becoming increasingly critical.
(note: we are back at Rev1 this month!)
**About Our Speaker**
[Alex Moore](https://www.linkedin.com/in/alexscottmoore/) is the founder of [Moore Cooperative](https://moorecooperative.com/), where he advises organizations on compensation strategy, pay equity, and people analytics. His work focuses on helping organizations like the Ohio Supreme Court design, analyze, and communicate compensation systems that are data-informed, defensible, and aligned with organizational goals. Alex lives in Granville, Ohio and has three little kiddos.

AI Development Risk Case Studies and how Agentic AI is the future of Appsec
OWASP is ending use of Meetup, so I built an eventbrite for the event.
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ai-development-risk-case-studies-and-how-agentic-ai-is-the-future-of-appsec-tickets-1981450622150?aff=oddtdtcreator
AI is transforming how software is designed, developed, and deployed, dramatically accelerating velocity while introducing new categories of risk. As organizations adopt AI-assisted coding, autonomous agents, and increasingly complex model interactions, traditional application security approaches struggle to keep pace. This talk examines emerging AI-driven risks through real case studies from the field, highlighting issues such as insecure code generation, data-leakage pathways, model manipulation, and evolving supply-chain threats. We will explore how engineering teams must adapt their people, processes, and governance models to secure AI-augmented development workflows effectively. The session will then introduce agentic AI as the next evolution in application security—autonomous systems capable of continuous analysis, multi-step reasoning, and real-time remediation. Attendees will learn how combining agentic AI with modern practices can reduce developer friction, improve coverage, and create a future-ready application security strategy designed for the demands of AI-native software development
Humanist Community Celebrating Darwin Day
Dale Gnidovec, Curator of the Orton Hall Museum of Geology at The Ohio State University, will be presenting a program he has wanted to share with us for a long time: Plate Tectonics. His description of his program:
Continents on the move - Nothing in Earth history makes sense without moving continents - it tells us why mountains, volcanoes, minerals, and fossils are where they are. This talk examines the evidence for continental drift, why it was disbelieved, and explains how the more-encompassing theory of plate tectonics was developed and eventually proven. Dale is an energetic, incredibly knowledgeable, and very entertaining speaker and this will be another wonderful program by Dale. Hope to see you there!
Food and drinks will be provided at the event. Feel free to show up a little bit early to hang out and talk.
Going forward our meetings will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online

Join members of the local UX and Digital Design community for a casual monthly breakfast. There _might_ be a little snow, but there _will_ be effectively infinite serve-yourself coffee, so it evens out if you ask me.
Just a reminder, while the other locations are great too, we’re at the Lane Ave one this time.
Azure CBUS February: Build Your Own MCP Server
### Tools in your AI's Toolbox : An introduction to MCP Servers
The generative AI revolution has unlocked unprecedented capabilities, but the next frontier is agency: empowering models to interact with, query, and act upon the world. The current challenge is the “N x M integration problem,” where every AI model requires a custom, brittle integration for each external tool or data source. This approach simply doesn’t scale. How can we give an AI access to our sales leads, code repositories, or IoT devices in a standardized, secure, and reusable way?
This session introduces Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), the open-source framework designed to solve this challenge and become the universal connector—the USB-C port—for AI. MCP standardizes how AI models discover and use external tools, moving beyond simple function-calling to a robust, client-server architecture. We will dive into how this open protocol is creating a new ecosystem for building powerful, context-aware AI agents.
Join this session for a developer-focused introduction where you will learn how to:
Understand the core concepts of the open-source Model Context Protocol and its architecture.
Utilize pre-built, open-source MCP servers to instantly connect AI to tools like Git, Slack, and databases.
Build a custom MCP server to securely expose your own proprietary data and APIs as tools for any compliant AI.
Move beyond bespoke integrations and contribute to a standardized, collaborative, and open ecosystem.
Stop building one-off connectors and start building intelligent agents. This session will give you the practical knowledge to leverage MCP and create the next generation of AI that doesn’t just talk, but does.
