One of the traps is the most Geminian of all: a false teacher named Busiris who captures him through the very gift of eloquence and the promise of wisdom. This is the shadow side of Mercury — the power of the word turned away from the soul, used to bind rather than to liberate. The Gemini disciple must learn to discriminate between the voice of the true teacher and the voice of glamour. Eventually freed, Hercules makes his way north — the direction of spirit — and there encounters Atlas, who bears the weight of the world upon his shoulders. In an act of pure service, Hercules takes on that burden so that Atlas may retrieve the apples.
