UEL will be hosting a “Community Open Day” on Bank Holiday Monday, 25 May. As the resident Badminton Club, we have been allocated a 2-hour session from 2:00–4:00 pm, with 5 courts available. The aim is to invite existing members to come and play, as well as to welcome members of the public to try badminton. We will allocate 3 courts for games. The session fee is £8 per person. Payment must be made before the session starts. Bank transfer details will be shared by email once you RSVP. • There is a large car-park at UEL. • Nearest DLR stations are Gallions Reach and Cyprus, then a 5 minutes walk to UEL Sports Dock. • Session are more suited for Intermediate to Club standard players. **About Session** **Advanced** **4 courts for 2 hours** **High grade tournament shuttles (speed 77-78)** **£12 (bank transfer)** Please sign up to **ONLY ONE** of the 2 concurrent Tuesday sessions (this is the 2-hour Tuesday session). Players signing up here will leave at 8 PM as the courts will be reduced to two from 8 to 10 PM Non-members should message the organizers their full-name via WhatsApp (Adrian Rabe, +447410463483) to arrange tryouts. Guests allowed but members will be prioritized over guests. Please message Committee members if you would like to add on a guest. Break the strings on 2 racquets, or break a racquet during the session and your session is *free*. **About Session** **King of the Hill** **4 courts for 4 hours** **£14 per person** Mechanics are as follows: 1. At the beginning of the session, we will randomly designate the King/Queen of the Hill. This will placed on the white board. 2. If the pair wins their game, they remain as King/Queen. If the pair loses, the bands pass to the winning pair and that pair shall now become the reigning King/Queen of the Hill. Each match pairing and score must be written down so we can track the King/Queen of the Hill. 3. The reigning pair must play together until they are defeated or until the end of the session, whichever comes first. If the pair separates, the King/Queen of the Hill will go to a random pair on court that has won their game at that moment. 4. The reigning pair may be challenged by anyone, given a reasonable amount of rest and following the usual "no 360" rules. 5. If one or both of the reigning pair leave before the end of the session, they shall cede the King/Queen of the Hill to their last opponents who are still present. 6. At 45 minutes left in the session, only players that have played at least 2 (or 3 depending size of session) King of the Hill games may challenge the King of the Hill. 7. The pair that is King/Queen of the Hill 10 minutes before the end of the session (5:50PM) will be declared winners of the event. Prize to be announced in the WhatsApp group.
