He later moved into leadership, focusing on technical strategy, system architecture at the organizational level, and team development.
Previously, he was a Tech Lead at Uber, where he worked on large-scale distributed systems using Go, Python, and Java."

In this talk, we'll explore how mutex work under the hood and how the runtime decides which face to show. Through a series of benchmarks, we'll observe mutex behavior under increasing contention and across different core counts to see both modes in action.

Silent morning walk
DEUTSCH SIEHE UNTEN
====
Our silent walks are finally here. We challenge you to join us in the next two weeks for a daily silent walk in the morning through Hasenheide.
**In a nutshell:** we meet at 07:55 am in front of Little Johns Bikes (1 minute walk away from metro Südstern), and at 08:00 am we start walking together into Hasenheide for a one-hour loop, finishing where we started. It is a completely silent activity, from start to finish, from hello to goodbye, and we ask you to respect that. Even if you come with friends, please do not talk during the walk.
**Why should you join these walks?**
The idea is to create space for a few simple things.
First, a chance to start the day by being outside and seeing morning light for a longer stretch of time. Morning light helps regulate our circadian rhythm, and being outdoors makes that light much more effective than staying inside.
Second, a chance to be together without small talk, or any talk at all. We invite you to feel accompanied without having to think about what to say or make conversation.
Third, a chance to take some mindful time. While we walk, we invite you to notice the park around you and stay in the moment. What was your favourite bird today? How many bikes passed us? What sound do our steps make on grass, and how does that change on gravel? We will offer one optional daily question or challenge to help you stay grounded.
And fourth, a chance to move, which is simply a great way to start the day feeling good.
=====

**We all know the real F-word, don’t we? We get F-d up early in life, and deal with it for pretty much the rest of the damn thing. F stands for "Family", obviously: what else can be as frustrating, ridiculous, yet daringly important as our family stories and histories? Join 4 headliner\* level comedians from all over the world in their (and yours) hilarious quests for meaning: why do we keep repeating the same patterns? Why do we crave approval? And how many Grandma’s pies (turkeys? naan? hummus? borscht?) can we eat at a family dinner before having a heart attack?**

Radical Empathy
**Radical Empathy – Tools for Togetherness**
**Relationships and Partnerships**
with ***Neo Seefried ***& ***Maximilian Popp***
for **LGBTQIA+**
Free with[ ](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/radical-empathy/w16-2026)**[registration](https://wearevillage.org/en/shop/radical-empathy/w16-2026)**
How do we stay connected in queer contexts when conflict, strong emotions, and differences arise? In this session on r**elationships and partnerships**, guest **Maximilian Popp** (systemic couples therapist) brings a compact mix of input and practice—on triggers, shame, and common protective strategies—plus practical tools for regulation, difficult conversations, and repairing after an argument.
**This Month’s Guest: Maximilian Popp – Systemic Couples Therapist**
Relationships and Partnerships
In this workshop, guest Maximilian Popp offers a practical mix of a short talk and an exercise. Together, we’ll explore what conflicts in close relationships can bring to the surface—and how queer experiences can shape our patterns around closeness, arguments, and withdrawal. The session also introduces everyday tools to help us stay more regulated, clear, and connected in difficult moments. We’ll close with space to reflect on our own strategies and try out new possibilities for deeper connection.
**About Radical Empathy**
**Radical Empathy – Tools for Togetherness** builds on Radical Empathy – Queer Storytelling for Connection (2025) and further develops the format: from collective storytelling to collective practice. The workshop series strengthens queer solidarity in all its diversity and asks: How can we stay connected, especially when things get tough?
Hosted by **Neo Seefried**, the series combines collective storytelling with somatic, communicative, and creative tools to remain capable of acting in queer contexts when faced with conflicts, emotions, and differences—without avoiding or escalating them, but rather with greater clarity, care, and relational competence.
Each session has its own thematic focus (including grief & death, relationships, migration, HIV/AIDS, club culture & substances, trans/inter/non-binary) and is complemented by a guest who explores the respective topic in depth. At the center is the Resonance Circle: a space for shared stories, mindful listening, and resonance—empathy as a practice that we train together and carry into our daily lives.

**Gast in diesem Monat: Maximilian Popp – systemischer Paartherapeut**

Silent Reading Club
Ditch the old book club, where everyone has to read the same book...this is better!
It works like this: Bring your own book. Come chat, have some tea or coffee, get to know your neighbors. Then we quietly read together, side by side, for about one hour, each one reading their own book, and afterwards we talk with each other about what we are reading.
The usual agenda:
- Arrival and introduction (~20 minutes)
- Silent reading (~1 hour)
- Discussion (~30-40 minutes)
- Join us for a bite at a local restaurant afterwards, if you like!
You may read in any language, you may read any book. We are a group of international residents of Berlin from many different countries, of all ages, and we converse in English. We welcome you!
No registration needed – the event is donation based. All funds support the Offenes Wohnzimmer.
Silent Reading / Creating Club at W66 (Saturday) [Luma to RSVP]
RSVP on Luma: [https://luma.com/pa24sd60?utm_source=Meetup](https://luma.com/pa24sd60?utm_source=Meetup)
Silent Reading / Creating Club is a gathering for people who enjoy focusing together in public.
Bring a book, a notebook, a sketchpad, knitting needles, whatever you’d like to spend a quiet hour doing. All projects and all participants are welcome.
We’re building a community of readers and creators who value depth, presence, and shared silence. The reading and creating isn't the real highlight, though, it’s in the people who return and make it feel like a familiar room.
(Please RSVP “yes” only if you can make it, so we can save a seat for you and others on the waitlist.)
Our Meeting Point is the **W66 Café**.
There’s no entrance fee, but please order at least one item from the café and don’t bring outside food or drinks 🙂
No assignments, expectations, or pressure. Just a shared hour of intentional silence, followed by the opportunity for good conversation.
🕰 Our Agenda
**10:30 – 11:00**
Arrivals, ordering drinks/food, light social time
**11:00 – 12:00**
The Great Quiet Hour
(Read. Write. Sketch. Code. Think. Sit.)
**12:00 – 12:30**
Optional socializing: share what you were reading or creating, or simply continue in quiet focus.
## 🏡 House Guidelines
To keep this space calm and welcoming for everyone:
• Silence during the focus hour (no calls or conversations)
• Put cellphones on silent mode
• If using technology, please avoid meetings or audio (headphones please!)

Dinner & a Movie: MICHAEL at Cinemark Stoneridge!
Join us for a fun Dinner & a Movie event as we get together to see MICHAEL + Dinner at CAP City! The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Jaafar Jackson (Michael Jackson’s nephew) as the King of Pop! Early buzz is strong for what should be an excellent musical-biopic! Here are details, a trailer and plan for this event:
DESCRIPTION: This biographical musical drama follows the life of Michael Jackson, from his time with the Jackson 5 to his early solo career! Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before. Jaafar Jackson (Michael Jackson’s nephew) stars in the title role alongside Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Juliano Krue Valdi, Miles Teller and Colman Domingo.
TRAILER: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbtgEE6rkxw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mbtgEE6rkxw)
MOVIE PLAN: Please purchase your ticket for the 3:35pm showing and meet inside the theater lobby between 3:10 and 3:20pm. Tickets already on sale and advance purchase as soon as possible is advised! Once you have yours, please list your seat number in the Comments section of this event!
DINNER PLAN: Dinner immediately following the movie (around 6pm) at nearby CAP City Fine Diner! Seating is limited for the dinner portion of this event, so separate RSVP required. If you plan to join for Dinner AND the movie, please be sure to RSVP in both places.
CAP CITY FINE DINER: This upscale diner from Cameron Mitchell is known its “retro-cool” atmosphere, modern twists on classic comfort food and their “showstopper” desserts! The menu reimagines nostalgic dishes like meatloaf, beef stroganoff, and pot roast with gourmet twists. The menu also offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options with lots of apps, cocktails, salads, sandwiches, burgers (including a black bean veggie burger), the most welcome return of their Veggie Plate (with Hummus) and more. Desserts include their 24K Carrot Cake, Coconut Cake and Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Pie.
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan

Disc Tues / Choose Your Movie: THE CHRISTOPHERS vs NORMAL at the Gateway!
Join us as we get together for a Discount Tuesday / Choose Your Movie event to see your choice of two great new films! Option 1 (and the one I'll be seeing) is the top-reviewed comedy-drama, THE CHRISTOPHERS! The film is set in the art world and follows the estranged children of a former artist who hire a forger. It is directed by Steven Soderberg, stars Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel and has been earning rave reviews on the indie circuit. Option 2 is the latest action-thriller starring Bob Odenkirk, NORMAL! The film follows a temporary small-town sheriff who uncovers dark mysteries after a local bank robbery. Here are descriptions, trailers and our plan for this event:
THE CHRISTOPHERS: The children of a once famous artist hire a forger to complete some unfinished, long ago abandoned canvases so they'll have a better inheritance when he dies. It is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars Ian McKellen, Michaela Coel, Jessica Gunning and James Corden. BUZZ & ACCLAIM: The film is earning an excellent 97% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes where critics call it a “dynamic, emotional and surprising journey” and a “compelling chamber piece that works like intellectual comfort food.” Others call the film, an “incredibly funny, comedy drama with plot reversals that make it feel like it’s on the verge of a thriller!” TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H79-EqzmdwY&t=20s
NORMAL: This action-crime-thriller follows a man who comes to the sleepy town of Normal, Minnesota to serve as the temporary sheriff. But a bank robbery leads him to a criminal underground reaches throughout the entire town. The film is directed by Ben Wheatley and stars Bob Odenkirk, Henry Winkler and Lena Headey. The film comes from the same team that brought us Nobody and the John Wick series, so expect an over-the-top, action-filled thrill ride! TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rmm-lM33Qw0&t=19s
PLAN: Details for this event have been confirmed! For THE CHRISTOPHERS, please purchase your ticket for the 7:00pm showing and meet in the upstairs lobby between 6:40 and 6:50pm! For NORMAL, please purchase your ticket for the 7:30pm showing and meet in the upstairs lobby between 7:10 and 7:20pm! For both films, tickets just $5 ($6.50 after online fees when purchased on the GFC website). Advance purchase is advised. Once you have yours, please list your movie of choice and seat number in the Comments section of this event.
PARKING: Close, convenient parking is available in the nearby garage (located between 9th and 11th, just off High St). Bring your ticket with you and have it validated at the theater and for $2, you’re covered for the night!
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
