Egal ob IT, Projektarbeit oder Fachabteilungen.
**Ablauf**
**17:00** Ankommen und kurzer Austausch
**17:10** Impuls von Christian Decker

Two Frontiers of Transformers: Life Trajectories and Tabular Learning
**Life Sequence Transformer: Generative Modelling of Socio-Economic Trajectories from Administrative Data** by [Alberto Cabezas](https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=lOpuVOUAAAAJ&hl=en) and [Carlotta Montorsi](https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=6pFg4lkAAAAJ&hl=it)
Generative modelling with Transformer architectures can simulate complex sequential structures across various applications. We extend this line of work to the social sciences by introducing a Transformer-based generative model tailored to longitudinal socio-economic data. Our contributions are: (i) we design a novel encoding method that represents socio-economic life histories as sequences, including overlapping events across life domains; and (ii) we adapt generative modelling techniques to simulate plausible alternative life trajectories conditioned on past histories. Using large-scale data from the Italian social security administration (INPS), we show that the model can be trained at scale, reproduces realistic labour market patterns consistent with known causal relationships, and generates coherent hypothetical life paths. This work demonstrates the feasibility of generative modelling for socio-economic trajectories and opens new opportunities for policy-oriented research, with counterfactual generation as a particularly promising application.
**The Rise of Tabular Foundation Models: From Zero-Shot Inference to the Security Frontier** by [Karim TIT](https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=kpKry3kAAAAJ&hl=fr)
Traditional tabular machine learning has long been dominated by gradient-boosted decision trees and complex AutoML pipelines that require extensive search, hyperparameter tuning, and feature engineering. In this talk, I will first introduce the emerging paradigm of Tabular Foundation Models (TFMs), which leverage Transformer architectures and massive *synthetic* pre-training datasets to achieve state-of-the-art performance via zero-shot in-context learning. I will conduct a deep dive into the TabPFN family, explaining the Prior-fitted Network paradigm and its latest evolutions, including Real-TabPFN, which integrates curated real-world data to handle larger, more complex datasets. Building on these foundations, I will provide a tour of other diverse SOTA approaches like TabDPT and TARTE, highlighting how different architectural choices impact scalability. Finally, I will shift to a security-researcher perspective to discuss the hidden vulnerabilities of this new paradigm. I will present recent results from our paper (accepted at SatML 2026) showing that TFMs are highly susceptible to structured test-time attacks and can even be repurposed as tools to attack traditional models. I will conclude by introducing Adversarial In-Context Learning (AICL), a novel defense that hardens these models by optimizing their data context, offering a path toward more robust and reliable tabular AI.

Fast Friending – Meet new friends! (Drink Offer/Bring a lady free)
Fast Friending is all about creating a warm, relaxed space where you can meet new friends, connect with like-minded ladies and gents, and enjoy meaningful conversations without any pressure. If you’ve been looking for a fun way to expand your social circle in Luxembourg, this is the perfect evening to join us!
**You will need to buy a ticket for attending -**
[https://lux21stfeb.eventbrite.co.uk](https://lux21stfeb.eventbrite.co.uk)
\*You can use any debit or credit card to purchase your ticket at PayPal checkout. It will ask you for your email address but that is only to send you a receipt. You do not need a PayPal account.
TICKETS:-
Early Bird - €5 / person
Regular Ticket - €10 / person
Cash at meetup: If you do not purchase a ticket in advance then you can pay Lara cash of €15 when you attend.
**Here’s how our Fast Friending works:-**
\- We will meet at 7\.00 and have time to get settle down and get a drink\.
\- From about 7\.30 to 8\.30 we will run the fast friending system\. Half of the group \(mixed gender\) will stay in a fixed place and the other half of the group \(mixed gender\) will be asked to rotate\. During these intervals\, each pair of people will get the opportunity to talk to each other\.
\- Lara will be hosting the evening and she will organize the fast friending process\. She will indicate when you should move to the next person\.
\- From 8\.30 onwards we will stop the system and people will have to chance go chat and interact with those they have met as well as others\.
If you are a bit shy or anxious then please come early. Jennifer will help you meet other members in a small group and help you settle down and get comfortable. All attendees are also welcome to bring a lady friend along with them for free. This will make it a lot less stressful for you as you will always have your friend alongside.
\- We are not a close knit tight group\. Our evenings are warm and comfortable for members attending for the first time and those coming alone\. You will not feel alone\!
\- We have many groups in this city\. Members of our other groups who RSVP are included as guests of the organisers in order to give you an indication of expected people\.
\- This evening is for ladies and gents in the 21 to 40 age group\. While some will be at the younger end of this range there will also be others at the other end of the range and lots in\-between\! You will naturally gel with others of your own age range and so you will always find many attendees who fit your range\.
\- We are not a dating group\. Our events are not organised to manage your dating life\. Our group is created to help ladies and gents meet other like minded ladies and gents\. Please do not attend our event if a perfect gender balance is important for your enjoyment of our meet\-up\.
Why do we have tickets?

Networking Meeting - Luxembourg Centre
The chapter meets periodically and brings together a carefully curated group of business owners, independent and liberal professionals, sole proprietors, self-employed individuals, traders, and craftsmen. Our objective goes beyond networking, as we will work to give back to the society.
To preserve the value of these groups, each chapter will have the policy of only one representative per profession. This ensures a non-competitive environment where members can openly support one another, exchange insights, and grow together. Additionally, an attendance policy will be in place to encourage commitment and continuity, ensuring that every member contributes and benefits the collective momentum of the group.
At this initial stage, all participation revenues will be donated to a non-profit organization called SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, reinforcing our belief that successful businesses have a responsibility beyond themselves.
The meetings will be held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Members will be encouraged to purchase drinks from the venue as they will be hosting the place at no charge for the club.
**Agenda outline:**
• People registration and welcome (10 min)
• Introduction of the agenda (2 min)
• Individual presentation (2 min p/person)
• Speech of the day (5-10 minutes) – Given only by oficial members
• Referrals and testimonials (5-10 min)
• End of the session / Open Networking (10-20 min)
**Investment packages:**
3 months: EUR 59
Half year: EUR 99
Yearly: EUR 179
As places are strictly limited, we strongly encourage you to confirm your participation as soon as possible if you wish to join us. Non-members are welcome to participate twice without being official members, and all fees paid as visitor will be deducted in case of membership enrollment.

Culinary exchange workshop
Love food and meeting new people? Join us for a **Culinary Exchange Workshop** — a fun, hands-on cooking event where everyone brings a taste of their own culture to the table.
**How it works:**
* 👩🍳 Each participant submits one or more recipes — starter, main course, dessert, or even a drink.
* 🗳️ We vote together to create our dream menu: one dish per category.
* 🧺 We then organize who brings which ingredients, so everything’s ready for the big day.
* 🏆 The 3–4 chosen chefs lead the group in preparing their winning dishes, guiding others through the recipe without cooking themselves.
* 🍷 Finally, we cook, laugh, and share a delicious meal together in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
Whether you’re a passionate cook or just curious to learn, this is the perfect opportunity to **discover new flavors, share your culinary traditions, and make new friends** from around the world.

February book selection: Kindred by Octavia Butler
When American author Octavia Butler died in 2006, she was only 58. Even at her premature death, she was renowned as a science fiction and speculative fiction author, winning both Hugo and Nebula awards and the MacArthur fellowship (aka the MacArthur Genius Grant).
Published in 1979, "Kindred" remains her most well-known and best-selling work. A story based on time travel and modeled on slave narratives, "Kindred" explores the dynamics and dilemmas of American antebellum slavery from the sensibility of a late 20th-century Black woman who is aware of its legacy in contemporary American society.
*Goodreads summary*
Dana, a modern Black woman, is celebrating her 26th birthday with her new husband when she is snatched abruptly from her home in California and transported to the antebellum South. Rufus, the white son of a plantation owner, is drowning, and Dana has been summoned to save him. Dana is drawn back repeatedly through time to the slave quarters, and each time the stay grows longer, more arduous, and more dangerous until it is uncertain whether or not Dana’s life will end, long before it has a chance to begin.

Philosophy of Friendship: What are the bases of "friendship"?
As you may or may not know--I didn't until late last year--Aristotle wrote extensively on "friendship" in the Nicomachean Ethics. After 69 years the concept of friendship still creates questions and uncertainty. I had close friends in high school and for a few years after high school but our interests diverged and people moved all over the country so it was hard to maintain connections.
* So if I/you haven't talked with a friend for several years, are you still friends? Are we friends who meet at Drunken Philosophy or Omnipresent Atheists?
* Can you be friends with someone with whom you have virulently divergent political views? Sartre and Camus could not.
* Aristotle regarded friendship as essential to a good life, not merely an added "bonus." Do you agree?
* In the Nicomachean Ethics (Books VIII and IX), he claims that wealth and power are meaningless without friends. Trump has wealth and power but seems to have no real friends, but wealth and power seem meaningful to him in perverted ways. Can you have meaning in your life without friends?
* Do men and women view and maintain friendships in different ways?
* Aristotle categorizes friendship into three types, based on what forms the bond:
* **Utility**: Based on mutual benefit, but this type is fragile and ends when the usefulness ceases.
* **Pleasure**: Based on shared enjoyment (e.g., humor, hobbies). Common among youth but fades as interests change.
* **Virtue (The "Complete" Friendship)**: Based on mutual respect for each other's character and goodness. You wish good for the other for their sake, not yours.
* **Key Principles of "True" (Virtuous) Friendship:**
* **Permanence**: Virtuous friendships last a lifetime whereas those based on utility and pleasure are fleeting.
* **Reciprocity**: Requires mutual goodwill; secret or unreciprocated affection does not qualify.
* **The "Second Self"**: A true friend is "another self"—their virtue helps you understand and improve yourself.
* **Time and Intimacy**: Deep ("complete") friendships are few, built on time and shared experiences.
* **Self-Love and Friendship:**
* Good friendship starts with being a friend to yourself.
* They distinguish shallow egoism (chasing honors) from real self-love (pursuing virtue).
* A virtuous person’s pleasant self-company allows them to be a stable, good friend to others.
* Aristotle argues that one's social circle ultimately reflects one's character—a view with striking relevance today. Well--the Drunken Philosophy social circle certainly reflects good character!
