We are hosting a hands-on hybrid workshop where you'll start by trying to build a local network using nothing but the devices in the room, and then discover exactly why the tech industry relies on the Cloud to solve local hosting headaches. No prior experience needed. Just bring your laptop. (Especially recommended for students doing ICT169 + ICT171!!) **📅 Date:** Tuesday, June 9th, 2026 **🕚 Time:** 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM **📍 Venue:** Room 105 & Online (Hybrid Event) **💻 Requirement:** Bring your own laptop! **What you'll actually do:** * Experience the hassle of manual peer-to-peer device connections and local hosting. * Learn the core concepts of AWS EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) and Security Groups. * Complete an official AWS Skill Builder lab alongside the team. * Walk away with an official AWS Skill Builder Certificate of Completion! * By the end of the session, you'll be able to: * Understand how devices communicate over a network using IP addresses and ports. * Explain the client-server model from hands-on experience. * Articulate the real-world problems that cloud platforms like AWS EC2 solve. * Launch, configure, and manage your very own Amazon EC2 instance. **Workshop Agenda:** 2:00 PM — Welcome & Setup 2:10 PM — The Local Hosting Challenge: Device-to-Device Connections 2:50 PM — The Cloud Rescue: Intro to AWS EC2 & Security Groups 3:05 PM — AWS Skill Builder Hands-on Lab (SPL-200) 3:45 PM — Claiming Certificates, Survey & Wrap-up 4:00 PM — End of Event Every activity is designed to be beginner-friendly so no one gets left behind, but still offers practical, real-world value for CS/IT students. **Open to all IT majors. ### Hofbräuhaus Columbus Dresden Stammtisch is a monthly social gathering for members and friends of Dresden Sister City, Inc. The event is free and open to the public. We speak German or English - it is largely up to you!

We meet to learn and practice American Sign Language and to grow our familiarity with Deaf culture. Facilitated by hearing folks (with a connection to a professional interpreter) using Deaf-created content. People of all ASL skill levels are welcome! As we learn, we hope to connect more with the Deaf community in Central Ohio. Join us as you're able! Come regularly or just once - whatever you're looking for! Each meetup will explore different topics related to ASL/Deaf culture, and will feature time to practice conversation with one another. Just bring yourself and a willingness to learn!
