Here in Brussels, it is a chance to share Irish art, music, and culture with the wider community and to welcome everyone, Irish or not, into the spirit of inclusion and openness. The event also shines a light on Brussels as a diverse and international capital. It brings together people from many nations and regions, highlights the city’s architecture and heritage, and shows how Belgium and Ireland share long and surprising links stretching back to the 6th century. This painting technique has been preserved and passed down over generations by women who have made it their way of self expression and connecting with the world, even in times when they had limited autonomy on their lives. Let this powerful medium relax you in a fun and creative way. Let the chatter in your mind flow away with each stroke of your brush or pen, as we try to find the answer to a simple question through art: "Who am I?" Who knows, maybe you find the quiet within you, hidden among all the chaos, or you end up making good friends over some paint and a cup of coffee or tea! While origami is commonly associated with decorative or representational forms, origata and orisue focus on wrapping, folding, and presentation as acts of care and intention. These practices invite us to slow down and work with attention. Each fold becomes a deliberate gesture — toward the material, the person receiving the gift, and ourselves. In a world that often prioritizes speed and perfection, this way of working restores value to presence, patience, and the time we choose to give. During the workshop, we will create an orisue-inspired gift book. The workshop fee is €60 per person and includes all materials.
