Dublin Canal Cleanup (Meet new people & get outdoors)
Kick off the New Year by doing something positive and meeting new people. This is a voluntary cleanup organized by Alternative Dublin. We do this event every year!
We are looking for volunteers to come help us clean up the canal Sunday at 11am.
Meet new people and do something different on your Sunday morning. We are expecting 20-30 people and plan to have this as a social event and volunteering.
We will be meeting at Portobello Canal at 11am and heading in both directions. The meeting point is outside Atlas Language School. If your planning to come please register for a ticket so we can prep supplies.
**[Register to help here](https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/canal-cleanup-dry-january-tickets-1978397790047?aff=oddtdtcreator)**
If you want to help us please register for a free ticket, this free ticket will allow us to email you and send any updates. Tickets in our bio on our profile.
The idea of this meetup isn't just to clean the area after one session, it's to raise awareness about leaving your waste behind. How it affects others, it's to start a conversation about how the amount of waste increases everywhere as people stop caring during festive (and sunny) periods.
We believe if people see others giving up their time to clean up - they are less likely to do it.
Our message is clear 'don't be that person'
TIME: 11am-1.30pm
LOCATION: Portobello (front of Atlas language school)
NEEDED: If you have spare black bags, gloves, sweeper & scoop please bring them. (we will buy some so don't worry)
If any local business in the area sees this and wants to get involved with water or event some food please get in touch.
Deep Start: A Cacao & New Year Vision Workshop
**Ready to start your year with intention and deep clarity?**
Join us for a transformative workshop designed to ground you in the present moment and powerfully map your future. This unique workshop blends the warmth of natural cacao with modern mindfulness and practical visioning exercises to help you move beyond resolutions and step into aligned action.
I will guide you through a holistic process: starting in the heart, moving to the mind, and culminating in tangible steps for your year ahead.
**What you will experience:**
* **Heart-Opening Cacao Ceremony:** We will start with a sacred cacao ceremony. This gentle plant medicine is used to open the heart space, deepen connection with your intuition, and create a warmth and sense of community. You will go into deep self-reflection and intention setting.
* **Mindfulness:** I will invite you into a guided practice to quiet the busy mind, let go of the worries of the past year, and anchor yourself in a state of present-moment awareness, creating ground for new achievements.
* **Future Visioning Exercises:** Through dynamic discussions and interactive group activities, you will gain clarity on your true desires and goals. We will move through guided practices to help you articulate your vision and translate dreams into clear, actionable steps for the next 12 months.

* Those who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uninspired by conventional goal-setting methods.
* Anyone interested in mindful practices, personal growth, and being a part of a community.
**No prior experience needed, come as you are.**

Hamnet
Hi all,
Iām kicking off our movie viewing for 2026 with the green jersey on in support of two of our best actors, Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, with the screening of Hamnet which looks set to be nominated for some, if not many Oscars. Please join me this ***Sunday, January 11th at 2.50pm*** for the screening of ***Hamnet.***
Northern Irish novelist Maggie OāFarrellās Hamnet (2020) managed to captivate not just the many awards juries who bequeathed garlands upon it, but also a wide general readership. This beautiful, moving adaptation, created in collaboration with Oscar-winning director ChloĆ© Zhao (Nomadland, 2020), is sure to meet with a similar response.
Agnes (Jessie Buckley) encounters and is wooed by fledgling playwright William Shakespeare (Paul Mescal). While William plies his trade in London, Agnes remains in Stratford to look after their children, keeping a particularly watchful eye on sickly Judith (Olivia Lynes). However, it is her twin brother Hamnet (Jacobi Jupe) who is unexpectedly taken by the plague, leaving the parents unspeakably bereft.
While Mescal provides exemplary support, the film belongs to Buckley and her astonishing performance as the free spirit transmuted into a raw nerve, grieving while her husband mourns.
Screening is taking place in screen one. Only four tickets sold as of Monday pm but I would recommend booking in advance just to be sure.
I will be in the Foyer from 2.30pm with my purple baseball hat.
See you all there,
Martin
