Learning Finnish in Finland can be difficult because Finns tend to switch to English. That is one of the reasons people like our Finnish language café: you get to practice Finnish with Finns :) The events are completely free and there is always a native speaker to facilitate the conversation and to help find the right words. For the first time in HELSINKI on MAY 13, internationally touring comedian Dinara Kerey brings her hit solo show Crazy Eurasian - a sharp, hilarious, and brutally honest take on identity, dating, and growing up post-Soviet, Asian and Muslim (WHAT?!). Born in Kazakhstan and based in Berlin, Dinara has opened for top comedians across Europe, including Russell Peters, David Cross, Maz Jobrani, Tina Friml and Mario Adrion. We're visiting Hanami, the cherry blossom festival organized every year in Roihuvuori, Helsinki. Weather permitting, we're gonna sit down somewhere near the festival area for some food, drinks and good company! The festival also includes Japanese food stands, live shows and workshops so feel free to take a tour and enjoy the festivities at your own leisure. Hej! Hur mår din svenska? Join Luckan at World Village Festival (16-17.5) to brush up on your Swedish, or learn your first words. At this workshop we offer something for everyone: learn Swedish 101, make your own Swedish greeting card, get familiar with Svenskfinland and cultural institutions, or simply practice with Swedish-speakers. The event is open for those who are integrating in Swedish as well as those who have forgotten their kouluruotsi (but not their curiosity for the language)! We carry roles within us that were once created to protect us. Often, the original purpose of these layers fades with time — but the layers themselves remain. Not without conscious and honest awareness. When these layers begin to soften, something else becomes possible. Life, sensitivity, and inner strength can begin to flow again. Something starts to move more freely. That something has been there all along. In this May retreat, we focus on **somatic release**. Release is not something you do or perform. It is a space where the body, the nervous system, and the parts of you that cannot be accessed through the conscious mind are allowed to move in their own intelligence — sometimes in ways we cannot consciously reach. We will use ancient tools from Amazon rainforest that support you in this journey. This retreat is also a celebration. A moment to meet yourself without roles, without expectations — and to discover what is truly there. Often, it is in this space that a sense of your own potential emerges.
