Meditation and Discussion Group: The Laws of the Universe
Join Stephen Fiyalko, President of the Melbourne Theosophical Society for meditation, self attunement, study and discussion on the Laws of the Universe. We welcome all to join at 5:30pm for a 30 min Meditation and will begin the discussion group at 6:00pm. For those who prefer to just attend the discussion group you're welcome to arrive at 6pm. An understanding of and action within the Laws through our choices give practical tools for facing, managing and surmounting with confidence the many challenges we face in our daily lives, in society and the world itself. Ignorance of the Laws can leave us adrift to be buffeted and feel overwhelmed by stormy seas. Each week will look at one of the twelve Laws which are principles, not rules, seeking a deeper understanding of that Law, our and their inter-relationship with the other Laws. Discussion will involve sharing stories from our lives which contribute to a growing understanding and confidence in our lives. Each session is free, but donations are welcome.

It is not the fear of God' which is 'the beginning of wisdom' but the knowledge of SELF which is Wisdom Itself .. MAN KNOW THYSELF" (Blavatsky,1901, p.15, Studies in Occultism) KNOW THYSELF In this supportive weekly group, through an Astrological lens and connecting with our own birth maps, we explore books that can help us explore paths towards our spiritual unfoldment. Through a variety of texts, from both Theosophists and Astrologers, we look at the energetic connections we have with the heavens and how they can assist us as we journey from our personality selves to our spiritual selves. Various knowledges from participants are also welcomed and encouraged as we continue to work with the 3rd object of the Theosophical Society: "To investigate unexplained laws of Nature and the powers latent in the human being" The Society is a registered charity and these events are free, but donations are welcome.

“The Uninitiated Masculine As The Feeling Body As the ‘Organ of Initiation”.
“The Uninitiated Masculine As The Feeling Body As the ‘Organ of Initiation”.
People will do anything, no matter how absurd, to avoid facing their own souls.” — C G Jung, CW 12 ¶ 126. Please click link below to book your lecture.. https://www.jungsocietymelbourne.com/june-2026 Allow yourself to Feel into this situation). You are a teenage boy in a Rite of Passage Circle, sitting around a camp fire with 45 other boys. The facilitator asks you to answer the simple question “How are you actually going? Would you prefer to be hunting a lion on the Savannah?!?” … How do you respond? Based on first hand practical experience with this group work, Andrew’s talk will propose ‘The Feeling Body as the organ of Initiation’. He will explore essential questions of our time: “How can we offer modern boys and men of all ages impeccably held Rites, that are able to move them meaningfully beyond performance and disconnection?” What is possible when young boys and men are supported to powerfully inhabit their feeling body? From a larger perspective, how can we support men into becoming agents of meaningful change, and invite them to step up to the huge challenges facing us in this chaotic (individual and collective) moment? The world is calling out for our “lost” boys and men to do so, begging them to step up to the lion, to offer themselves back. Andrew Levitas-Cameron holds a Batchelor of Health & Exercise Science from UNSW, as well as a Batchelor of Paramedicine from UTAS Rozelle. His first “huge” personal initiation occurred in Mexico in 2009 and launched him on his current path...drawing him through 15 years exploring Initiatory Rites the world over. This extensive background places him at a unique axis to offer wisdom on this nuanced and contentious space, in a way few others can. During the last four years, he has facilitated more than 140 Rites of Passage coming into deep contact with nearly 5,000 teenagers! Andrew is well positioned for this vocational work, regarding emotional truth-telling as the modern “ordeal” and “gateway to authentic adulthood.” He is passionate about nestling individuals into a relational system that allows for meaningful thresholds of transformation…at any and all stages of life!
Community Conversations: The Art of Boredom
Community Conversations: The Art of Boredom
The Art of Boredom: Reclaiming Stillness in a Frantic World. We live in a world of constant stimulation, where time often feels like a commodity that owns us. Somewhere along the way, with our pace of life we've lost a vital human capacity: the ability to simply sit with our own thoughts and feel "bored." But what happens to our mental health, our creativity, and our relationships when we never pause! Join us for our next Community Conversation as we explore The Art of Boredom. Our guest sparker will draw on her unique background to help us explore how reclaiming the "unstructured pause" is actually the first step toward building a deeper, more compassionate connection with ourselves and our neighbourhood. Community Conversations is an initiative of the Boroondara Baha'i community, held monthly, to bring like-minded people together to explore themes around current challenges, strengthen connection and understanding. This is a free event and all are invited to attend. Please RSVP to register: https://bit.ly/4tWjlDm

Gratitude for Healing Pain
Gratitude for Healing Pain
*‘Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die, so let us all be thankful.’* **Buddha** We experience pain in life but we are also given bad advice to forget about it. We are told time will heal. Well what if we understood how to heal ourselves by knowing the potential of gratitude? Can we do an alchemical conversion of our emotions back into joy? Based on her own book - ***The Alchemy of Gratitude,*** Amruta will take us through the ways we can find healing through energy transformation. **Amruta Joshi** is a Gratitude Coach and a Meditation teacher. She started Gratitude for Earth with her husband in 2020 during covid to help spread the awareness of gratitude as a mental health self-help tool. They conducted sessions on Meetups and in communities. They saw how instantly people's faces were lifted up by this simple practice. It led them to deep dive and create a whole community out of this. Inspiration drawn from so many people led to Amruta writing her very first book - The Alchemy of Gratitude which was published in June last year. The book contains simple techniques for a daily habit of gratitude along with the alchemical process of transforming our lower emotions into higher joy. **The MTS is committed to providing events that align with and further The three objects of The Theosophical Society:** * To form a nucleus of the universal brotherhood of humanity, without distinction of race, creed, sex, caste or colour. * To encourage the study of comparative religion, philosophy and science. * To investigate unexplained laws of nature and the powers latent in the human being. This gentle afternoon walk will meetup with the longer walk group and offers a beautiful taste of the Dandenongs in a short distance. [MOD] Fern Forests, Creeks & Garden Trails 13.8 km (Meeting the Easy Walk Group)
[MOD] Fern Forests, Creeks & Garden Trails 13.8 km (Meeting the Easy Walk Group)
This walk begins in one of the most beautiful corners of the Dandenong's, where boardwalks weave through tall tree ferns and the creek keeps close company as it winds through the valley. The air is cool and earthy here, softened by moss, filtered light, and the quiet movements of the forest. Lyrebirds, wallabies, and bright flashes of birdlife are all part of the character of this place, even when they stay hidden among the ferns. As the trail continues, the forest opens just enough to reveal the charm of Beagleys Picnic Ground — a peaceful clearing tucked among the trees, close to the old bridge that sits quietly in the landscape. It’s the kind of spot where you feel the shift in the valley: the creek broadens, the trees rise taller, and the sense of space changes in a way that’s subtle but unmistakable. It’s a lovely moment in the journey, a natural pause where the forest seems to breathe a little deeper. From here, the climb gradually gathers itself. The gullies lift, the canopy stretches higher, and the forest takes on a lighter, more open feel as we rise toward the ridge. It’s a steady, satisfying ascent — the kind that warms the legs and gives you time to settle into the rhythm of the day. At the top, the forest gives way to the gentle charm of Pirianda Gardens. Here we’ll meet the rest of the group for an unhurried wander among the terraces, old trees, and peaceful corners that make this place such a favourite. It’s a garden that invites you to slow down, explore, and enjoy the company around you. terraces and gentle slopes, where old trees stand with a kind of calm confidence and the paths invite you to slow down. There’s a peaceful rhythm to the garden — open lawns that catch the light, shaded corners where ferns gather, and winding steps that lead you from one level to the next without any hurry. It’s the sort of space where everyone finds something different to enjoy. Some wander toward the views, others linger among the trees, and some simply settle into the stillness for a moment. The garden has a way of holding you, of offering a pause in the day that feels both grounding and generous. It’s a lovely place to meet the rest of the group — unhurried, spacious, and full of quiet character — before we begin our gentle journey back toward the valley. When we begin our return, the descent carries us back toward the creek and the cool hush of the valley floor. It’s a walk that moves from fern‑filled gullies to open garden spaces and back again — a beautiful arc of forest, friendship, and shared time on the trail. ## 🥾 **Walk Grade & Difficulty** **Australian Walking Track Grade:** **Grade 3** **Difficulty:** **Moderate** This walk has a steady climb on the way up, some uneven natural surfaces, and a meaningful distance, but it’s well within the comfort zone for regular walkers. The tracks are formed and easy to follow, with boardwalks, forest paths, and a gentle descent on the return. A moderate level of fitness is recommended. The way back is downhill so its a easy return. ## 📏 **Distance & Elevation** **Distance:** 13.87 km **Elevation:** 513 m up / 498 m down **Estimated time:** 4 hr 45 min (including time at Pirianda Gardens) ## 👥 **Who This Walk Suits** Walkers who enjoy a steady climb, lush forest, creekside boardwalks, and a relaxed social pace.
