Let's visit the Native American museum and their native foods cafe!
Let's visit the Museum of the American Indian together and check out the diverse and fascinating art, artifacts and history exhibits, including exhibitions [like this one by the Plains nations.](https://americanindian.si.edu/explore/exhibitions/item?id=1005) Then if you have time, let's enjoy a unique lunch at their [Mitsitam Cafe](https://share.google/h3llKmNOh6qVSjkkR), which offers a food-court-like array of Native-inspired dishes.
[According to the museum website](https://americanindian.si.edu/visit/dc/dining), "stations reflect the bounties of the various regions throughout the Western Hemisphere, from the Four Corners to coastlines and woodlands. “Mitsitam” means “Let’s eat!” in the Native language of the Delaware and Piscataway peoples."
Admission is free, and we will meet near the entrance at 10 am, or at the cafe about 11:30. I'll have a FFF>50 sign, and I'll also text you to make sure we find each other (please include your cell # with your RSVP, thanks!) Hope to see you!
Meetup has brought us together, but please also join Finding Female Friends >50 on Mighty Networks! Any member can create an event there (even a super-simple one like coffee or a walk), and great women will join you! Plus there's no pressure to pay or upgrade. [Join here,](https://community.fff50.org/share/dbWb9iJu5XwSN2TR?utm_source=manual) hope to see you! Here's to more in-person events and more friendships in 2026!

This group is for anyone who is interested in overcoming average in all areas - career, ambitions, relationships, hobbies, health, everything.
I am so excited to meet driven individuals in the NoVa area so please reach out if you have any questions at all. EVERYONE is welcome so please sign up for an upcoming meetup!

Yoga Therapy: Wake-Up Yoga
This class is designed to target those places in the body that might need a little extra space breathed into them after a night's sleep. **Please reserve your spot at www.piesfitnessyoga.com**. The session is offered both InStudio and OnLine. The Zoom link for the OnLine session will be emailed 15 minutes before class starts to those who are registered at www.piesfitnessyoga.com. **Sign up for sessions must be made at least 2 hours prior to class.**

Join your fellow animal lovers and DC Animal Protection to discuss what’s happening in the animal advocacy scene in DC! We’ll host non-profits such as Pro-Animal Future, International Council for Animal Welfare, DC Voters for Animals, The Humane League, Mercy for Animals and Direct Action Everywhere as well as local grassroots groups like the DC Coalition Against Foie Gras and sanctuaries. We’ll also have special sessions related to health, nutrition and mindfulness!
We encourage anyone who is interested in helping animals to attend- no need to be vegan! Come learn about our rich variety of local activism. With protests, outreach, wheat-pasting, signature collecting, leafletting, lobbying, tabling etc. there’s something to match everyone’s comfort level and skill set.
Coffee, bagels and community will be provided! Feel free to bring any extra treats to share (no animal products please.) Hope to see you soon! :)

"Paint Your Pet" at Muse Paintbar in Ballston!
We've done this before and it was so fun!
They make it easy — you email a photo of your pet or favorite animal (of any species) to the studio beforehand, and they have a system for projecting it onto the canvas to give you a template for your painting. An instructor also helps guide us through the process, while we also enjoy each other's company and also drinks and snacks if we choose.
How to join:
**Sign up and pay for the event at this link (Please do so soon, since it is likely to sell out):**
**[https://www.musepaintbar.com/events/backlit-art-300613](https://www.musepaintbar.com/events/backlit-art-300613)**
**IMPORTANT NOTE: CHOOSE MY NAME "PATRICIA L" as your GROUP so we will be seated together!**
The cost is $55, but when you go to their website, if you sign up for emails you can get a discount. This covers the painting instruction and materials. Food and drink are at an additional cost.
Note that they do not give cash refunds, but you will get credit to join a future event if you cancel.
Getting there: It's very close to the Ballston metro station and steps away from the Ballston Mall parking garage which costs just $1.00. The studio is a little bit tricky to find; here are their instructions: Muse Paintbar Ballston is located inside Ballston Quarter, in the outdoor plaza that runs parallel to Wilson Blvd, next to the CVS. We are not visible from the street—to find us, round the corner to the right of Punch Bowl Social. From the Main Mall Entrance: Look left to see the breezeway, exit outside, and we’ll be on your left, across from PR Run & Walk. From the Parking Garage: Take the elevator to Level M1, turn right off the elevators, then turn right again to exit to the breezeway. We’ll be on your left, across from PR Run & Walk.
The painting event starts at 7, but they suggest we arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 to get settled. This is a little late for me :) but I'm so excited about joining another painting event with FFF>50 friends and going home with a painting of my second cat 😸
Also: Please join Finding Female Friends Past Fifty at our new home on Mighty Networks! This group on Meetup will soon go away, and we are continuing our connections, friendship and fun on the new platform which gives us a safer, more private space for discussion and connection as well as great events, and no pressure to pay/upgrade. [Just go here to join ](https://community.fff50.org/share/dbWb9iJu5XwSN2TR?utm_source=manual)the national network and then join our local Washington DC group! Looking forward to seeing you there!

VSDC Animal Rights Discussion and Education Group
Please join the [Veg Society of DC](vsdc.org) Animal Rights Discussion and Education Group for another great discussion - our 6th session.
*Announcement!*
We are trying something NEW: meeting series! We will have 2-3 sessions in a row that relate to the same series topic, but each meeting will involve unique materials and content. We hope this format gives attendees notice of what topics they can expect to discuss at upcoming meetings and allow the group to dive deeper into various subjects!
The next event will continue the topic from our 12/6 session: theories of change in the animal rights movement. For this next session, we will focus on data on the efficacy of different interventions (e.g. protests, corporate lobbying, street outreach, etc.), including the impacts of VEGANUARY on furthering veganism as a lifestyle.
*What is the Animal Rights Discussion and Education Group?*
If you’ve been looking for a way to educate yourself on animal rights and issues affecting animals in our world today with the support of a like-minded community, then this group is for you. The VSDC Animal Rights Discussion and Education Group will discuss thoughts, questions, concerns, and news related to animal rights. It seeks to provide a safe space for discussions around issues affecting captive animals, farmed animals, animals used in research, wild animals, companion animals, and more.
All are welcome, from those well-versed in animal rights philosophy and issues to those who are just starting off on their journey and are curious to learn more. Please come with an open mind, an open heart, and a willingness to engage with diverse opinions with curiosity and respect.
The plan is for the group to meet every month, alternating between Zoom and in person. The topic of each meeting and any accompanying materials will be planned in advance and posted in event announcements via this VSDC meetup group. Participants are encouraged to offer topic ideas and materials for discussion at subsequent meetings.
**Date / Time:** Saturday, January 10th, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm.
**Location:** West End Public Library - MEETING ROOM 2 (this is the smaller, 3-12 person meeting room on your right after you pass the information desk)
*Email 'ARdiscuss@vsdc.org' for further information.*

Powell Gold Star Referral Club Meetup
We meet at lunch each week and each meeting follows a fairly organized agenda. First all participants pass their business cards around. Then each member and guest is invited to give a one-minute overview of their company and what is a perfect referral for the week. We always have a 10 minute presentation from one of the members about their business in more detail. And finally we pass referrals. You're welcome to visit. Nobody is ever put on the spot. Bring plenty of cards!
