Hi everyone! We're doing the usual Wednesday afternoon sketch hangout for artists and creatives at Chefs Hall. Please bring your own art supplies (mainly dry medium or a small watercolour set). Digital drawing tablets are welcome too! You can bring almost anything that doesn't require too much space to setup and is easy to pack up. Welcome! Join us at the North York Centre to colour and chat. You can bring your own colouring books and colouring pencils. There’s a Dollarama across the street to buy them. If you’re coming empty handed no worries you can borrow some pencils and paper from others. You can do other art related projects such as sketching, crochet etc. As long as you bring your own materials :) Please keep your DM options open for updates. We are a church community that values and promotes meditation through art. This program is FREE and open to all. We gather every Wednesday at 10AM to read a short text or poem, listen to a guided meditation related to the theme, and share our own responses. Then we spend time drawing and painting together in light of these reflections. All are welcome—no prior experience with art is necessary! **Emilia Strilchuk on the storytelling of the self: a conversation with Stephanie Cooke.** While TCAF approaches, RAID hosts Canadian-Ukrainian artist Emilis Strilchuk for a conversation on storytelling of the self, because sometimes the struggle is real: how do you write about yourself? Together with Emilia, we will explore this question through her graphic memoir *Be Yourself...Oh, Not Like That*, a work that traces her journey from childhood to adulthood through the lens of an autism diagnosis received later in life. *Be Yourself...Oh, Not Like That* touches on the everyday misunderstandings of invisible disability: being called “lazy” when asking for support, “rude” when social rules don’t land, or being told you “don’t look autistic.” Between humour, frustration, and clarity, it reflects on what happens when your internal experience doesn’t match the world’s expectations and how writing and art can be an outlet to process feelings and life changes. Emilia will be in conversation with writer Stephanie Cooke . Some of her graphic novels include ParaNorthern, Oh My Gods, Pillow Talk, and The Racc Pack series, with bestselling creator, Whitney Gardner. We’ll be working with clay to create small functional pieces like ring dishes, trinket trays, or pinch bowls. This is **not a class** however there’ll be some instruction to follow step-by-step, just a calm, shared creative session where everyone works at their own pace in a friendly, low-pressure setting. **All supplies will be provided**, and no prior experience is needed.
