Melbourne: Beyond the Hype: The Data & Blueprint for AI ROI in 2026
**In-person event!**
## **The Reality Check**
90% of organisations are seeing some value from AI, but there is a massive gap between the “experimenters” and the “performers.” Most are stuck in Pilot Purgatory—burning through budgets while boards demand proof of return.
***
## **The Session**
We’ve bought out from the United States, **Laks Srinivasan** (CEO, Return on AI Institute) to share with our market the global research the Institute has undertaken and published in Harvard Business Review along with the great AI Native offering for Enterprises from AI-Native by Scaled Agile.
1. **The Research:**
Laks Srinivasan (CEO, Return on AI Institute) breaks down a global study of 1,000+ executives. He’ll share the “Value Gap” data—revealing exactly what distinguishes organizations winning with AI from those just spending money.
2. **The Blueprint:**
We’ll dive into the Scaled Agile AI-Native system. This isn’t just about tools; it’s about the [AI-Native Foundations](https://prettyagile.com.au/course/ai-native-foundations) and [Change Agent](https://prettyagile.com.au/course/ai-native-change-agent) and [Leading the AI-Native Organisation](https://prettyagile.com.au/course/ai-native-leader).
Frameworks that rewire how teams work, from prompt fluency to enterprise-scale workflows and how Executives lead AI Native Enterprises.
***
## **The Mix**
**5:00 pm Welcome drinks + nibbles**
**5:30 pm Data & Strategy:**
* Laks presents the Harvard Business Review global research featured findings and the AI Money Map.
**6:00 pm Group Jam**
* A facilitated “unfiltered” discussion. We’ll explore how to move from scattered AI insights to an executable, AI-Native strategy.
**6:30 pm Mingle with drinks + nibbles**
***
## **What’s in it for you?**
* **Executives:** Get the metrics and “Board-ready” data to justify AI spend.
* **Leads/Agilists:** See the AI-Native Change Agent roadmap to scale AI beyond small pilots.
* **Engineers/PMs & Teams:** Learn how to redesign workflows to be “AI-First” without losing agility with AI-Native Foundations.

Pure Consciousness Revealed: Nirvana Shatakam Workshop
**Nirvana Shatakam – Shankara's Six Verses on Freedom**
Most spiritual paths tell you to become something. This teaching does the opposite.
Through six ancient verses by Adi Shankara, you discover who you are by removing what you're NOT – the body, mind, and roles you play. What remains is your limitless nature that was always here.
Over seven months, we'll unpack these verses line by line, transforming how you see yourself and your life.
**What You'll Learn**
* How you mistake yourself for body, mind, emotions, and roles
* Why self-knowledge differs from self-improvement
* Why you've never actually been bound – and what keeps that recognition hidden
* What it means to recognise yourself as the sought, not the seeker
**About the Teacher**
Andre Vas teaches Vedanta full-time under the Swami Dayananda (Arsha Vidya) lineage. As a former business owner, he relates deeply to householders juggling work, family, and inner growth. Known for making knowledge stick through lived experience, not just concepts.
**Who This Is For**
No prior background needed. For anyone noticing that acquiring more, achieving more, or becoming better doesn't stick. For those with burning curiosity and a hunger to know, understand, and live this wisdom. **I'll set up group discussions also to help us make new friends.**
**When & Where**
📅 2:00-4:00pm Melbourne time
📍 3 Anjaya Court, Blackburn, Melbourne

Final Monthly Minimalist Meetup
Hello and welcome back to all our past members and welcome to our new members!
This is going to be our **last meetup on Meetup.com**, as some of you know we are moving away from the platform. It has become quite expensive **(around $600 per year!)**, and we’ve also had issues with the software with members being removed, which made it hard to stay in touch with everyone, which is why for most of you this would be first time in a while that you've heard from us. Nevertheless, 12 years of minimalist meetups are not going to come to stop - we will still keep going but via the simple and free email list! So if you are still interested in Melbourne Minimalist Meetups please reply with your best email address or email me on **nyamkab@protonmail.com** *(Sorry for those who I have already messaged about this, we've been having some issues with this platform).*
So for one last time this month we'll come together to discuss minimalism, with a focus on **frugal winter hobbies** given the increase in costs and decrease in temperature. It would be great to share and learn from each other about what gives us joy and meaning during fall and winter.
As usual we will also have a **swap & declutter,** so bring anything you no longer need/want that is still in good condition. Anything that is not wanted will be donated at the opshop at the end of the event.
Looking forward to seeing you!
Nyamka & Aidan

**Agenda**
\| 6:00pm \| Food \+ Networking \|
\| 6:30pm \| Event begins\. Introductions \|
\| 6:40pm \| Andrew Murphy — The five stages of losing our craft \|
\| 7:15pm \| Rob Amos \(Bok\) — Forging a Sword Spirit: From AI skeptic to autonomy \|
\| 7:55pm \| Wrap up \+ social time at a nearby venue \|
\* All times are approximate. Presentation order will be confirmed on the night.

We are always looking for speakers and believe everyone has an interesting talk hiding inside themselves. If you are interested in letting that talk out at a future event you can get in touch on the website [https://www.melbournecocoaheads.com/talks](https://www.melbournecocoaheads.com/talks) or on Slack.

Data & Analytics Wednesday - Mapping and Dashboards
**Total Eclipse of the Chart: School Redistricting Dashboards**
In this presentation, we will explore the utilization of maps, sets, and SQL within a Tableau dashboard to help provide “what-if” analyses generated through the use of a mapped dashboard, providing different scenarios and the potential implications of these.
While in this use case we are focused on a large school district, the concepts of utilizing existing data to explore the future impacts of modifying different geographic boundaries can be useful to many industries, balancing the mix of maps with visual analytics.
