Dear Flutternauts, We’ll start our meetup year with an amazing speaker lineup and an awesome new location! Be sure to RSVP to save yourself a spot and some slices of pizza ;) ***+++++++++++++++ AGENDA +++++++++++++++*** **18:30:** Introduction and welcome **19:00: When building tools becomes cheaper than buying** **by [Damian Bast](https://www.linkedin.com/in/damianbast/)** Lessons learned building a Flutter Desktop App to get rid of another SAAS subscription. I was using a SAAS to track my LinkedIn post performance and just recently realized that they downgraded me to a plan without raw access to my data. Using less tokens than the monthly price of the SAAS I rebuilt it at home. **19:40:** **Food, Drinks and Socializing Break** **20:10: Flipping the Testing Pyramid - Rethinking your testing strategy** **by [Pascal Welsch](https://www.linkedin.com/in/pascal-welsch-679a2b80/)** When the testing pyramid was introduced in 2009, Software engineering was dominated by large enterprise backend systems. Flutter apps don’t fit into that picture. We’re not scared of complex Animations which can be tested reliably with headless UI tests. In this talk, Pascal shows how to flip the testing pyramid and make widget tests the backbone of your testing strategy. You’ll learn how to test your entire app with runApp, structure tests using the Robot pattern, and debug failures visually with the Spot Timeline. The result is a simpler, more robust test setup that survives refactors and reflects how real users interact with your app. **21:00: Meeting fellow Flutternauts**, last bits of food, a drink, friendly or heated discussions (about get, riverpod and bloc ;) ) in a cozy atmosphere. **21:45 - 22:00: Wrapping up**, last drinks We are looking forward to meeting you there! **\*\*LOCATION\*\*** WienIT Base Thomas-Klestil-Platz 13, 1030 Wien U3 Erdberg **\*\*THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR WienIT \*\*** **\*\*WANT TO DO A TALK?\*\*** We are always looking for (short and long) talks! Stream Oriented Programming (SOP, SP) is a programming and architectural paradigm for today's ever-growing web, desktop, server and cloud development needs. Various implementations of Futures, Streams, Observables and Signals have been present in web development for years, but their use often failed to match even the least ambitious expectations and it's not for the reasons you think. Reactive Streams in SOP are a fundamental building block, not just another async pattern thrown into the mix. They can help you eliminate entire categories of bugs, reduce your code size by up to 90%, reduce your LLM token usage, deliver smaller bundles and ultimately more reliable and robust applications. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **️Want to give a Talk?** ▶️ [https://viennajs.org/en/participate/give-a-talk](https://viennajs.org/en/participate/give-a-talk) **Location:** Eversports GmbH Jakov-Lind-Straße 13, 5th Floor 1020 Vienna, Austria **Sponsors:** Eversports Eversports is a Vienna-based company founded in 2013 with the mission to "Make Sports Happen." Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit - Barret Blake
Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit - Barret Blake
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Spec-Driven Development with GitHub Spec-Kit: From Intent to Implementation* Spec-driven development flips the traditional workflow on its head: instead of code being the source of truth, the specification becomes the backbone of design, collaboration, and delivery. In this session, we’ll explore how GitHub Spec-Kit enables teams to treat specifications as first-class artifacts—living documents that drive architecture, implementation, and verification. You’ll learn how Spec-Kit helps teams clearly express intent using structured, version-controlled specs that live alongside code. We’ll walk through a practical workflow that starts with defining system behavior and constraints, then progressively refines those specs into testable, automatable outcomes. Along the way, we’ll show how specs can reduce ambiguity, improve cross-functional collaboration, and make design decisions explicit before a single line of production code is written. This talk will cover: --What spec-driven development is (and what it isn’t) --How GitHub Spec-Kit fits into modern developer workflows --Using specs to align product, engineering, and AI-assisted development --Real-world examples of turning specs into implementations with confidence Whether you’re building greenfield systems, integrating AI into your stack, or trying to reduce costly rework, spec-driven development offers a scalable way to move faster without sacrificing clarity. Attendees will leave with concrete patterns and a clear mental model for adopting GitHub Spec-Kit in their own projects. **YouTube Link** TBA
