The Sheep Detectives
Hi all,
This week's film, The Sheep Detectives, will be screening at 6:40pm in cinema 6. I was sceptical of the idea of putting a wolverine in charge of a flock of sheep but the trailer allayed my fears.
Lisa will be hosting and will be in the usual meeting spot [read on for details] from 6:30pm.
Cheers!
**--=>+ Meeting Spot +<=--**
Outside the clothing store Black Orange. It is inside Lygon Court next to Brunettis. Join the group at the meeting spot 10 minutes before the start time or see us in the movie.
**--=>+ The Film +<=--**
In this irresistably witty mystery, shepherd George (Hugh Jackman) reads detective novels to his beloved flock every night, assuming they couldn't possibly understand him. But, when a mysterious incident upends life on George's farm, the sheep realise they must solve the crime. Summoning the knowledge they've learned from listening to George's stories, the animals begin to investigate their human suspects.
Starring Emma Thompson, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine and Hong Chau, THE SHEEP DETECTIVES features the voice talents of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Brett Goldstein, Patrick Stewart and Chris O'Dowd.
**--=>+ Tickets +<=--**
Everyone will need to buy their own ticket online and in advance. If you want to sit with other group members, there's a tendency for us to pick seats in the back two rows. Those who feel comfortable can catch up in Nova's bar afterward.
**--=>+ Afterwards+<=--**
We meet in Nova's bar after the movie. Look for us in the area to the left as you go down the steps. Share your thoughts about the film with the group over a drink of your choice.
If the bar is closed we typically head across the road to the Wolf's Lair which is out the back of Jimmy Watson's.

NuCalm - Brain Health
NuCalm is a patented, drug-free neuroscience technology designed to rapidly reduce stress, improve sleep quality, and aid recovery by shifting the body from a "fight-or-flight" state to a deeply relaxed parasympathetic state within minutes.
[https://stamina.xosialx.com/nucalm.html](https://stamina.xosialx.com/nucalm.html)
It uses neuroacoustic software, a biosignal processing disc, and light-blocking eye masks to guide brain waves from active beta states down to alpha/theta (relaxation/meditation) levels
NuCalm uses a patented, clinically proven pitch and frequency matrix with non-linear oscillating algorithms to safely present your brain with precise signals, prompting what is known as a frequency-following response. Your brain synchronizes with the incoming NuCalm signals helping you naturally and effortlessly manage your state of mind by speeding up or slowing down your brain wave frequencies.
NuCalm has mapped all of your brain wave frequency zones and created products to safely and predictably guide you to whatever mental state you desire.
The amazing thing is, NuCalm is all-natural and works every time you use it within minutes.
The best thing to do now is to watch the video on the website and download the NuCalm app.

A unique afternoon tea - One-hatted Oxi Tea Room
There have been some requests in the group for an afternoon tea, so here’s a really unique one!
Oxi Tea Room was awarded one Hat this year and delivers an incredible afternoon tea experience. Here’s an example video of one of their previous menus: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DIA3AtEh4bf/?igsh=MW5lN3ZmaGxkeHFwag==
The new menu titled ‘Hatched - The Loop’ has just been released (menu here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cO4e2-mPF2ZE_C6Pce3FTallVZGlP1nJ/view) and I have booked this for 6 Fine Diners to enjoy from 12pm on Sunday 17 May. The price is $128 per person and includes a tea and a welcome drink. You can purchase additional teas/drinks on the day if you wish.
Join the waitlist to express interest.
Once I have names in the waitlist, I’ll send you a ‘Meetup Message’ to confirm you have a spot and how to pay. You’ll need to send me the full cost of $128 to secure your place as this is charged for cancellations.
Once paid I’ll move you from the waitlist to going.
Please check that you don’t have your settings blocking messages; if I can’t contact you I’ll have to move on to the next person. Also if you don’t respond to my message within 3 days, I’ll let you know that I’m offering the seat to the next person on the waitlist.
Thanks and I’m looking forward to trying this beautiful-looking afternoon tea with you!
Final Monthly Minimalist Meetup
Hello and welcome back to all our past members and welcome to our new members!
This is going to be our **last meetup on Meetup.com**, as some of you know we are moving away from the platform. It has become quite expensive **(around $600 per year!)**, and we’ve also had issues with the software with members being removed, which made it hard to stay in touch with everyone, which is why for most of you this would be first time in a while that you've heard from us. Nevertheless, 12 years of minimalist meetups are not going to come to stop - we will still keep going but via the simple and free email list! So if you are still interested in Melbourne Minimalist Meetups please reply with your best email address or email me on **nyamkab@protonmail.com** *(Sorry for those who I have already messaged about this, we've been having some issues with this platform).*
So for one last time this month we'll come together to discuss minimalism, with a focus on **frugal winter hobbies** given the increase in costs and decrease in temperature. It would be great to share and learn from each other about what gives us joy and meaning during fall and winter.
As usual we will also have a **swap & declutter,** so bring anything you no longer need/want that is still in good condition. Anything that is not wanted will be donated at the opshop at the end of the event.
Looking forward to seeing you!
Nyamka & Aidan

Unknown Number: The High School Catfish
IMPORTANT INFO: I strongly suggest not reading anything about it online before seeing it. It's best viewed with no previous knowledge. This documentary contains crude terminology and deals with cyberbullying, which may be a trigger for some folks.
AGAIN, PLEASE DO NOT EVEN READ ABOUT IT BEFORE YOU SEE IT.
A very unusual choice for his group... Unknown Number: High School Catfish is an American [true crime](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_crime "True crime") documentary film directed by [Skye Borgman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skye_Borgman "Skye Borgman") and released to [streaming](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streaming_media "Streaming media") on [Netflix](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netflix "Netflix") on August 29, 2025.
The documentary explores the events and investigation into an unknown person [cyberbully](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberbullying "Cyberbullying") and [harassing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harassment "Harassment") teenagers in [Beal City, Michigan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beal_City,_Michigan "Beal City, Michigan") using an unknown number via insults and sexual claims. It also explores the increasingly great impact of the harassment on the community, the eventual reveal of the culprit, and the trial that followed.
Please be ready to discuss the movie by 7PM. We suggest arriving early enough to order and get food beforehand. Thanks.
Unfortunately, it is only available on Netflix. If you would like to attend but do not have Netflix, say so and maybe we can figure something out.
