Join us at our weekly Balfolk dancing session in the **NED O'SHEAS pub from 4 to 6pm!** 💃 Learn folk dances from many countries, meet people from all over the world and enjoy some live music at the end of the session! 🪕🎻🪗 Beginners and two-left feet people are welcome! You won’t be left on your own to figure out the steps as we will provide guidance and instructions. 🙂 Entry is free but donations [suggested €5] are welcome to help develop the group and support the organization of special events with professional dancers and musicians. 🥳 Don’t hesitate to give it a try, new people join us all the time and the group is very welcoming. Join a relaxed **French conversation group** where we use **real news stories** as a way to practise **speaking French** in a natural and structured way. This is not a traditional lesson. It’s a guided conversation space where you **practise speaking** through real-life content. ## 📰 This session’s topic: a real news story In this session, we will work with a short French news extract about a **train and car collision**. ## 🎥 Before the session Before the meetup, you will watch a short French news video about a **train and car collision**. This video will give you the key vocabulary and context so you feel more comfortable speaking during the session. You will also receive a few simple comprehension questions to help you prepare your ideas. ## 💬 During the meetup We will use the news story as a starting point for discussion and speaking practice. You will be guided through conversation questions to help you : * describe what happened in the story * report facts in French * express simple reactions (shock, sadness, surprise…) * talk about people involved in the event * situate events in time and space You don’t need perfect French — the goal is to speak and build confidence. ## 🗣️ Activity format The session will include : * group discussion based on the video * guided speaking questions * interactive conversation practice * a final speaking activity / role-play based on the scenario ## 🎯 What you will improve By the end of the session, you will have practised how to: * speak more spontaneously in French * understand and react to real French content * build confidence when expressing ideas * move from “I understand” to “I can respond” ## 🌿 Atmosphere This is a supportive, low-pressure environment. Our free-of-charge meet-up in the Black Sheep Pub on Capel Street. This is a casual meet up for people who want to play boardgames. Lots of people bring plenty of games and rules will always be explained so don't worry if you're new to the hobby and you don't have anything to bring along or think you won't know how to play. The meet-up runs for the whole day but late comers always welcome, you just may have to wait a little for a game to open up but games will be starting and ending throughout the day. **IMPORTANT!** **The meet up is free of charge but we do ask that people support the bar by buying food and/or drink. The bar is very accommodating to us and it's important that we support them in return. Join me outside in Sandycove for an outdoor yoga class every Sunday from 24 May. Everyone is welcome, from absolute beginners to more experienced practitioners. Come solo or bring a friend, we’ll be grabbing a coffee nearby after class too if you would like to join. Classes take place rain or shine, so come dressed in layers and bring your own mat. The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~20 per person. Soft drink refills are 1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630. Please promptly end your games and clear out the space at 10pm when the bar closes. We encourage socializing but do not permit disruptive behavior of any kind.
