Let's talk astrology: your evolutionary path
Let's talk astrology: your evolutionary path
You know your Sun sign, you may also know your ascendant, your moon sign and maybe you're familiar with your whole birth chart. What do you know about your evolutionary path? Let's have a look at the broad lines of your life story: where you're coming from, where you're going, what you feel called to cultivate or achieve... I'll be sitting downstairs in West Hampstead Costa Coffee. Get your birth chart on your phone - or in print - on astro.com. It will be a relaxed group chat. You don't have to be knowledgeable to attend. About me: I am a modern, psychological and evolutionary astrologer. I've written a book called Magical Doors - The symbols of astrology. My website is [https://www.jeanmarcpierson.com/](https://www.jeanmarcpierson.com/) I'll be happy to meet you over coffee on Saturday afternoon

GREEN £5 WALK - 🌲🌳 See COLOURFUL CAMELIAS 🌹at CHISWICK PARK
GREEN £5 WALK - 🌲🌳 See COLOURFUL CAMELIAS 🌹at CHISWICK PARK
LAKES, THAMES RIVER,MEADOWS, PARKS, WOODED TRAILS, followed by friendly SOCIALISING with CHEAP FOOD and DRINKS in a convivial pub atmosphere. A walk highlighting the spectacular Camelias on display at Chiswick Park and also enjoy the tastefully landscaped gardens of Chiswick Park followed by a Thames Path Walk to a large pub in Putney. Enjoy London! Get out and see your City and enjoy the whole experience in the company of great friends! CHISWICK HOUSE: The third Earl of Burlington (1694-1753) designed the elegant Classical villa seen today, in neo palladian style. The villa reflected the influence of Italian architect Andrea Palladio and English follower Inigo Jones. For the first few years Burlington’s villa stood alongside an old Jacobean house purchased by his grandfather in 1682. This separation was impractical, and in 1732 a two-storey link was added. After the earl’s death the estate passed by marriage to the Dukes of Devonshire, and in 1788 the fifth Duke demolished Old Chiswick House and make a proper mansion of the villa by adding substantial wings. Both the fifth and sixth Dukes also remodelled Burlington’s gardens. These wings were subsequently removed in the 1950s to restore the villa to its original appearance. The CAMELLIAS of CHISWICK PARK. Brought by ship from China in the 18th century, exotic camellia plants were then a luxury commodity. At Chiswick Park the Duke of Devonshire built a 300 foot glass house, (sections of which are currently under repair), one of the largest in the world at the time, to protect his collection of plants. Enjoy the riot of colour when the outdoor trees bloom in early Spring. **WALK STARTPOINT**: **TURNHAM GREEN TUBE STATION (served by the District and Piccadilly lines).** Look for Ken with the 'KEN'S EVENTS/MEETUP Badge, outside the Station and across the road in the green area. WALK ROUTE: Our walk takes us from Turnham Green Tube Station , through Turnham Green and down into Chiswick Park, past Chiswick House, Gardens and cafe, and then along the Thames Path to Putney where we will finish. WALK END POINT: At the Rocket pub (near to Putney Bridge Station - District Line and Putney Station - National Rail) for more socialising. WALK DISTANCE (Approx. 5.5 miles). STOP OUT POINTS: WALK crosses many bus routes and goes within 15 minutes walk of Hammersmith Station. **COST of EVENT**: **All of the walks on this group are only £5 each to attend. Payment is not collected before the day of the event to allow you maximum flexibility. Why pay more on other groups for overpriced walks with no afterwalk socialising!!** **The walk is free for holders of the Ken's Events Membership Card.** **NOTICE of RISKS** applicable for all walks: Please dress appropriately for weather and terrain conditions. Only wear good sturdy shoes, with ankle support, and carry a bottle of water and necessary medication. You need to be moderately fit for this walk and able to walk for at least 8 miles. This walk is suitable for the average experienced hill walker. Do not attend this walk if you do not fit that description or you have a medical condition that may impact upon your capability of completing the walk. These walks are city walks and countryside walks where all the usual risks of injury during such walks apply resulting from interactions with road traffic, joggers, cyclists, e-scooters,other members of the public, animals (farm, domestic and wild), plants (allergic reactions), uneven surfaces, including portruding tree roots and potholes and there may be low overhanging branches, In these walks we cross busy roads, use towpaths alongside water, bridlepaths, country lanes and sometimes ill defined paths and tracks through woodland, bush and countryside. Some tracks may be muddy and slippery, and conditions may be wet and icy. The walk leader is not and does not purport to be a professional guide but is instead a like minded individual who also enjoys hill walking and who is familiar with the intended route. Do not attend this walk unless you accept and consent to the above risks. If you require insurance for these walks then you must arrange this yourself. Unfortunately no large dogs and small children are permitted on these walks. **DISCAIMER** All Ken's Events are subject to a disclaimer. Over the centuries it has attracted many famous residents, including **Lewis Carroll, Alan Turing, Terry Jones, Yvonne Arnaud** and supermodel **Jodie Kidd**. The artist **William Turner** painted the nearby ruins of St Catherine’s Chapel in 1807–08, works that now hang in the Tate Gallery. We start by following the **River Wey**, a peaceful canal lined with boathouses and willow trees, leading us to the evocative ruins of **St Catherine’s Chapel**, a 14th-century site perched above the river. From here, our trail rises into the **Bluebell Woods** before joining the ancient **North Downs Way**, a ridge path that rewards us with sweeping views across Surrey and, on a clear day, as far as the sea. At the top of the ridge we reach the remote and atmospheric **St Martha’s Church**, built in the 12th century and still standing alone on the hilltop. The views here are among the finest in the region, stretching across seven counties and down to the distant South Downs. From the ridge, we descend towards **Chilworth**, once home to an extensive **gunpowder factory** built by the East India Company in 1626. Though production ended in 1920, the enchanting **27-acre site** is now a mix of woodland and evocative ruins, including relics, tramways and industrial buildings from its nearly 400-year history. We finish our hike back in Guildford, passing the town’s Norman castle before returning to London. **Guide:** • Leader: [GRAHAM](https://www.outdooraholics.co.uk/MeetTheOutdooraholics.pdf) • Contact (hike day only): 07796 098487 ️ **Food:** • Bring a packed lunch • Pub visit after the hike (drinks optional) **What to Bring** • Hiking boots/shoes • Water (2 litres minimum) • Packed lunch • Waterproofs (jacket and trousers) • Hat and gloves if cold • Train tickets are arranged – just meet us at the meeting point ⚠️ **Safety** Your guide is a trained hike leader and Outdoor Activity First Aider ❓ **Want to Know More?** • [New to Our Trips?](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/new_to_our_day_hikes.pdf) (perfect for first-timers, answers “what to expect”) • [About Us](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/about_us.pdf) (who Outdooraholics are, credibility, history) • [FAQs](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/FAQ.pdf) (covers common queries) **Explore More &** **Stay Connected** [Day hikes list](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/hikesbygrade.pdf) [Calendar - All trips](https://www.meetup.com/outdooraholics/events/calendar/) [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/outdooraholics/) [Facebook page](https://www.facebook.com/Outdooraholics) & [Photos group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/Outdooraholics) **Terms and Conditions** By signing up or attending you agree to our [Terms and Conditions](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/TermsConditionsOutdooraholicsHikingUK.pdf) © Outdooraholics Hiking UK Ltd 2026 E & OE

Geographically situated at the heart of a region that has influenced history and culture for over 2000 years, Jordan has been influenced by Romans, Byzantines, Crusaders and Arabs. On this tour, we will experience the highlights of this beautiful country, including touring the spectacular and extensive Roman ruins of Jerash, visiting the lowest point on the earth’s surface, the Dead Sea for swimming and floating, exploring the fabled Rose Red City of Petra, luxury camping in the desert of Wadi Rum and a chance to enjoy the modern metropolis of the capital city Amman. **Itinerary** **Day One - Amman** Arrivals in Amman. Dinner (included) and overnight at the Dead Sea **Day Five - Madaba, Mt Nebo, Kerak and Petra** Breakfast at hotel. On the way to Petra, we will stop and visit Madaba with its Ottoman-style houses and Byzantine-era mosaics including a 6th century mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land which can be seen at St George’s Church. Bewl Water & the Titans of Saturn (16 miles)
Bewl Water & the Titans of Saturn (16 miles)
It's Herschel's birthday (1792). Not William, who discovered Uranus & various moons around it and Saturn, or Caroline who found a few comets. John, continuing the family work completed mapping of the Southern Hemisphere sky, and named the discovered moons - in Saturn's case, after Titans in Greek mythology. First stop along this Wealden walk will be his home at The Moor, a quintessential English village complete with green where cricket was played in Herschel's day, church, and the Eight Bells. The church houses a very unusual relic, delivered in 1944. Next in our orbit is Bewl Water, the largest stretch of water in SE England, described as unlike anywhere else. [Bewl Water - The Ultimate Destination for a Family Day Out](https://www.bewlwater.co.uk/) Final stop is Ticehurst, with chocolate box cottages. Further details: [Best places to live: Ticehurst, Sussex | Muddy Stilettos | Muddy Stilettos](https://sussex.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/sussex/best-places-to-live-ticehurst/) And when taking photographs along the walk - who coined the word 'photography' which he helped develop? Yep, John Herschel. Outward Travel: Take the train departing 9.24 AM from London Bridge to ETCHINGHAM. The return train fare with a Network Card or GroupSave is £17.00. Gather outside the ticket office at London Bridge to arrange group tickets. Walk start: 10.31 AM from Etchingham rail station. Bring a packed lunch. Village / pub stops. Orbital walk. *How to join?* * The walk is entirely free of charge; * You only arrange for your own travel and pub expenses; * Understand our terms and conditions below (the "IMPORTANT" part); * Understand how to stay safe outdoors, as you will be responsible for yourself. See our quick safety tips: http://www.meetup.com/Free-Outdoor-Trips-From-London/about/ *What to bring* * Plenty of water, 1-2 litres recommended * Enough snacks and packed lunch to keep you energized along the walk * Extra snacks and an extra packed lunch just in case * Rainproof (ideally waterproof) clothing, sturdy shoes/boots you don't mind getting muddy * Spare socks * Walking poles and/or an umbrella :-) * Yourself... * ...and your camera! * Cash for train ticket * Cash for pub at the end of the walk? Feel free to ask any questions in the comments section! IMPORTANT Please bear in mind this is a free of charge, self-guided trip with a hobby group. Any trip details, travel advice, route planning, instructions and other content in our group merely represent our shared personal knowledge, research and suggestions as outdoor enthusiasts. As this is no business, there is no "product", "service" or "package" and also no "tour guide", "operator" or "walk leader". Each participant is responsible for their own safety. Even if some of us are very experienced walking outdoors, nobody assumes responsibility for any kind of injury, damage or loss that may happen. Despite this, we take extreme precautions and all trips we plan are very safe, fun, highly educational and popular. Our experienced members volunteer their time and effort to shape a pleasant and quality adventure for everyone :-) By participating you acknowledge and agree with this disclaimer. Here are our tips on staying safe during outdoor trips: http://www.meetup.com/Free-Outdoor-Trips-From-London/about/ TRAVEL, ACCOMMODATION, INSURANCE Although we provide detailed suggestions, each participant is expected to arrange their own travel - this gives everyone the freedom and choice. Anyone interested in travel or outdoor insurance should also arrange this on their own. As mentioned above we always take extreme precautions, but some people may still feel safer if covered. Free at Bexley Library- Adventures in Ecological Horticulture w Rebecca McMackin
Free at Bexley Library Adventures in Ecological Horticulture with Rebecca McMackin Wednesday, March 18 1:00pm - 2:30pm Gone are the days when a garden could be ornamental alone. We now recognize the impact that our land care practices have on the ecosystems around us, and can see the importance of encouraging biodiversity. Thankfully, we do not need to sacrifice beauty when we invite butterflies and songbirds into our gardens. Rebecca McMackin has cultivated gorgeous landscapes in the toughest environments possible: urban parks, school playgrounds, and the sidewalks of New York City. She will take lessons from her work at Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Brooklyn Museum, and decades of research to share how those of us who are fortunate enough to care for land, can do it beautifully and ecologically. Rebecca McMackin is an ecologically obsessed horticulturist and garden designer. She writes, lectures, and teaches on ecological landscape management and pollination ecology, as well as designs the rare public garden. She is currently Lead Horticulturist for the American Horticultural Society, an Associate with the Harvard Divinity School’s Thinking with Plants and Fungi Initiative, and Consulting Arboretum Curator for Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY. Rebecca spent a decade as Director of Horticulture of Brooklyn Bridge Park, where she managed 85 acres of diverse parkland organically. Their research into cultivating urban biodiversity and ethical management strategies has influenced thousands of people and entire urban parks systems to adopt similar approaches. She has been published by and featured in the New York Times, Gardens Illustrated, on NPR and PBS. Her garden for the Brooklyn Museum recently won the PPA’s Award of Excellence and her TED Talk has been viewed over a million times. She holds M.Sc. from Columbia University and University of Victoria in landscape design and biology and recently completed the Loeb Fellowship at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. This program is presented in partnership with Rooted in Bexley and generously funded by the Bexley Community Foundation and Bexley Community Author Series Fund.
