Body Double (1984)
Body Double (1984)
Jake Scully is an actor in a slump. He can't get or keep a job, his girlfriend has been cheating on him and to cap it all off, he suffers from crippling claustrophobia. Things seem to be looking up when a friend from his acting class offers him a cushy housesitting gig, where he finds himself besotted by a beautiful neighbour. After seeing her being abused, he tries to intervene, only to get drawn into a mysterious and violent world where the rules seem to be constantly in motion. This may not quite be the biggest Hitchcock ripoff Brian de Palma's ever made\*, but Body Double is probably the most de Palma movie he ever made, an erotic film noir that asks the audience to examine their own voyeuristic tendencies as they judge Scully for his. The movie itself is often ludicrous but never less than watchable, and it has at least two absolute crackerjack scenes. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B6KEJD605M This is showing as part of Violet Hour, the Castle's season of LA neo film noirs flicks. Tickets available [here](https://castlecinema.admit-one.co.uk/?p=tickets&perfCode=15480), I'm in D4. Let's grab a drink in their lovely bar at half eight and head in after that. \*That would be 1976's Obssession. Check out [the trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYkV1s9hM-Q) if you don't believe me.

👠🎬 THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2 (FILM & SOCIAL)
💄 **Trends fade. Style remains… but good fashion always makes a comeback, right on schedule.** **👋 Hey everyone!** Let’s step back into cinematic nostalgia with a fresh new fashion affair. The original film is one of our all-time favorites, and having the original cast and director back gives us real goosebumps. It’s the perfect chance to revisit the classic Runway flair now reimagined in a bold digital era. Directed once again by **David Frankel** and written by **Aline Brosh McKenna**, this sequel follows a seasoned Miranda Priestly as she navigates the decline of traditional print media, forced to face off against her former assistant, Emily Charlton, now a powerful luxury executive. Let’s see if this sequel can live up to the iconic fashion legacy we all remember. We'll meet at the **Picturehouse café-bar** downstairs at **4 p.m**, in the middle section by the large tables. Afterward, we’ll head to **screen one.** Our seats are **F25 to F28**, if you’d like to join us in that same row. 👁️🎬 HOKUM
👁️🎬 HOKUM
**🛎️ *There are rumours that this film is effing scary!!!*** **👋 Hello everyone!** When someone tells us a film is that scary, we tend to be cautiously skeptical of the marketing. However, this film premiered at several festivals to rave reviews, and audiences said it was truly frightening. Still, we’ll take a close look at these key details. This films starts to earn credibility as a folk horror film set in Ireland, and that alone really sets the tone. On top of that, it’s **directed by Damien McCarthy**, who’s already proven himself with chilling films like **[Caveat](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoOkSYrf8ew)** and **[Oddity](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLNDvnv8B3A)**, which definitely gives it some gravitas. It stars **Adam Scott** as a cynical American author who travels to a remote countryside inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, only to become drawn into the mysterious disappearance of a woman, while being forced to confront the darkest corners of his own past. We’ll be meeting for Sunday drinks before the film at the **Victory House Wine Bar** at **5:30pm**, where we’ll be chatting about all sorts of folk horror. Then at **6:30pm** will be on our way to **Vue Cinema (Screen 1)** where you can find us in seats **A5-A6** but you can pick what works for you. ♔🎬 LONDON
**♔ In London (1994), an unseen narrator, voiced by Paul Scofield, returns to the British capital after several years abroad to accompany his reclusive friend Robinson on a series of reflective urban explorations.** **Hey Guys!** Let's meet for an exciting series of three walks around diverse areas of the city, their observations mix personal insight with encounters and images drawn from real life, capturing the city’s architecture, public spaces, and cultural landmarks. The narrative bridges memory, literature, and everyday experience as it recounts events and social change in London over the course of a year. More than a straightforward travelogue, London unfolds as a cinematic **essay on the character and transformation of the city itself**, using archival imagery and evocative narration to weave in political and historical context. References to **literary figures and philosophical ideas** subtly shape the film’s impressionistic portrait, linking the lived environment with broader cultural currents and the lived realities of early 1990s London. Runtime: 85 mins. Certificate: 18 We'll meet at **The Nickel Cinema**, the heir apparent to the historical **Scala**, which is the home to the most subversive, bewildering, sensational, fearless, sublime, shocking, transgressive, death-defying, psychedelic, psychotronic, bizarre, rebellious and baffling cinematic treasures - from the silent era to the digital age. **Check out the details below—I'll see you all there!** **Ray** \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- 👉 **HEADS UP** * If you **sign up** but later can’t make it, please 🙏 **just drop me a quick message** (or change your RSVP) — it really helps with planning. Free Meditation & Yoga on Thursdays in Greenwich @ 7.30pm
Hello there! - We'd like to welcome you to Free weekly meetings hosted by Shalini & Manitu which take place at the: Greenwich West Community & Arts Centre, 141 Greenwich High Rd, SE10 8JA, on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm until 9.00pm With Sahaja Yoga Meditation we normally sit on chairs to achieve yoga, effortlessly & spontaneously. So there is no need for mats and no special clothing required. All across the globe, many are seeking new sources of energy. Meanwhile, the most transformative energy of all is hiding in plain sight, within us. It's natural, sustainable, and infinitely renewable. It's called inner kundalini energy. And everyone already has it — everyone!. It is often likened to an inner feminine or motherly energy which automatically knows about us and what is needed to help us restore balance and harmony within our subtle being. It works spontaneously, effortlessly, organically and cannot be paid for. Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a simple time-honoured technique that lets you tap into that energy and harness its power to become better balanced and better connected to yourself — emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually If you're having trouble juggling the challenges in your life, Sahaja Yoga Meditation might well help you manage stress, master your emotions and find solutions to your problems . You may enjoy better health, better focus, and a deeper understanding of the universe and your place in it. Meditation is not just for mystics and monks. Sahaja Yoga meditation is for everyone. Anyone can do it. It's that easy. But with the Sahaja Yoga experience, you'll quickly realise, it isn't your typical Meditations 'R Us type class. It's much more than just feeling peaceful and relaxed. Sahaja Yoga Meditation has many layers, varied and deep. Explore at your own pace, in your own way. Our volunteer experts are always available to help. Ready to plug into your inner energy? A Sahaja Yoga Meditation class is a great way to start. A few minutes of your life may be all it takes to connect to your inner energy and light the path to lifelong transformation. Sahaja Yoga is more than a temporary solution or quick relief — it is a journey, rather than a destination. It's all about energy — guaranteed pure and carbon neutral. You can never have too much of it. The best part? All classes are free. No strings, no catch. Everyone is welcome. Bring a friend, bring your self — all are welcome. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to all of YOU for volunteering at this (and any of our previous) CMG Gives Back events! Should be another good/fun/meaningful time together, Dan

Unknown Number: High School Catfish is an American [true crime](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_crime "True crime") documentary film directed by [Skye Borgman](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skye_Borgman "Skye Borgman") and released to [streaming](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streaming_media "Streaming media") on [Netflix](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netflix "Netflix") on August 29, 2025. The documentary explores the events and investigation into an unknown person [cyberbully](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberbullying "Cyberbullying") and [harassing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harassment "Harassment") teenagers in [Beal City, Michigan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beal_City,_Michigan "Beal City, Michigan") using an unknown number via insults and sexual claims. It also explores the increasingly great impact of the harassment on the community, the eventual reveal of the culprit, and the trial that followed. IMPORTANT INFO: I strongly suggest not reading anything about it online before seeing it. It's best viewed with no previous knowledge. This documentary contains crude terminology and deals with cyberbullying, which may be a trigger for some folks. PLEASE NOTE - WE ARE STARTING AT 6:30, WHICH IS THIRTY MINUTES EARLIER THAN USUAL. Unfortunately, it is only available on Netflix. If you would like to attend but do not have Netflix, say so and maybe we can figure something out.
