This year the Christian lectionary centers on the **Gospel of Matthew**, and we’re taking the opportunity to read it carefully and together. Matthew is a Gospel that speaks plainly and powerfully about discipleship, community, justice, mercy, and what it means to follow Jesus in real life. In this Bible study, we’ll move through the text at a thoughtful pace, paying attention to the story Matthew tells and the questions it raises—both for the early church and for us today. This group is discussion-based and welcoming. You don’t need any special background in theology or biblical studies, and you don’t need to have all the answers. The Humanist Monthly Program is our longest running event and still a community favorite. In the old days it used to be called "Going to HCCO" and we still like to think of it as our flagship event. Our March speakers are Molly Gaines and Zack Parrish, co-organizers of the Secular Education Association: They will share their story of how a small group of Ohio parents grew into a national organization tracking released-time religious instruction and other church–state issues in public schools. The presentation will cover SEA’s early wins and hard lessons, what we’re seeing nationally right now, and how local advocates can play a meaningful role in protecting public education. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.
