Gold Foil on Canvas Painting Workshop
Gold Foil on Canvas Painting Workshop
A guided gold foil painting session where guests create their own textured, luxurious canvas to take home. Wandsworth Town, we are hoping to add a little shimmer to your week. We are so excited to bring our Gold Foil on Canvas Workshop to our amazing local creative community space, @thepurpleowllondon. If you’ve been looking for a creative, quiet way to unwind mid-week, this is your invitation to pull up a chair, grab a brush, and enjoy a drink with us. In this session, we’ll explore how to combine rich, textured acrylics with delicate metallic gold leaf. It’s a deeply meditative and enjoyable process, and you’ll leave with a gorgeous piece of contemporary abstract art for your home. Our resident artist will guide you step-by-step, from blending your background colours to mapping out and applying the gold foil. If you haven't touched a paintbrush since school, you are completely welcome here. **What to expect:** * We bring absolutely everything you need - canvases, acrylic paints, aprons, and gold leaf sheets. * To kick off the evening, your ticket also includes a drink from the bar (you can choose a draught beer, a house wine, or a single house spirit and mixer). * We recommend wearing clothes you don't mind getting a little paint on, just in case. * Most people come by themselves to meet local South West London creatives, so please feel welcome to turn up solo, or bring a mate along with you. **The details:** * **When:** Wednesday\, 10 June \| 6:30 PM \- 8:30 PM * **Where:** The Purple Owl (Unit 1 Delta Business Park, 10 Smugglers Way, SW18 1EG) We can't wait to see you there. If you have any questions you can email us on info@artrickshaw.in or Instagram - artrickshaw_ldn
London daytime testing at Waterloo
London daytime testing at Waterloo
We playtest all sorts of tabletop games - strategic, silly, creative, or whatever (but not video games). Some games are almost done. Some are very early ideas. We test anything that will fit into 90 minutes. You don't need to bring a game - we always love to have new playtesters! Please let us know in the comments when you plan to arrive/leave and whether you are bringing a game or not. This helps us to plan the day better. The schedule is: 10am onwards - gathering, chatting 11am sharp - playing for 90 min ('slot 1') 12:30ish - break for food/chat 1pm sharp - playing for 90 min ('slot 2') 2:30ish - break for food/chat 3pm sharp - playing for 90 min ('slot 3') 4:30ish - finish up Often, we might hang around afterwards, to play some already-published games. We are strict on timings, so please try to arrive a few minutes before the session to limit disruption. You can just come for part of the day if you wish. The reason we have fixed timings for the 3 'slots' is to make it easier for folk to do so. Designers of all levels of experience are welcome! But if it's your first time, we ask that you don't bring a game and just spend some time learning how the group works. The group works based on reciprocation. If you expect to test your own game, make sure stay for long enough to play other games. As a general rule of thumb, you can expect to play one of your own games every third 90-minute session. So if you stay a whole day (3 sessions), you can expect to have one session to play your game(s). A good rule of thumb is that if you come all day, you will have one 90 minute session with two other playtesters in which to test your own games. It is sometimes possible to test games with more players. If your game requires 4 or more, please note that as standard you will be allocated half of a session (45 minutes). Pre-covid, we were getting unmanageable. As a result, we may have to limit attendees. This is a free-to-use venue, and we have to be mindful that other folk want to use the same space. Please note: This is an adults only event. We look forward to seeing you!

The Spawn London (Beginner Friendly Game) - Social Deduction on a Cosmic Scale
The Spawn London (Beginner Friendly Game) - Social Deduction on a Cosmic Scale
"Humanity's insatiable appetite to colonise reached far into the stars, but they learned the hard way that some stones should remain unturned. Whilst aggressively terraforming Spawn home worlds, humanity stirred the ancient species out of their slumber and incurred their rage in a cataclysmic event. Now conflict dances across the cosmos as the Spawn seek violent retribution by assimilating themselves among humanity and destroying them from within. Humanity’s only hope of survival is to detect the Spawn among them and destroy the threat." The Spawn is a large-scale elimination-based social deduction game where humanity must root out the Spawn which have infiltrated their ranks or be overpowered by them. Strategic gameplay, social subterfuge and gripping sci-fi all in one immersive experience. Game Dev Working Session (Tysons-Pimmit VA Library Conference Room)
**Location**: Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library (Virginia) Conference Room A game development **Working Session** involves 3 key parts: 1. Tell people what you're going to do 2. Actually do stuff 3. Show people what you did That's what we'll be doing for this meeting. We'll briefly tell each other what we're going to do, then work on our projects, then at around 5:30 wrap up to show each other what we did and chat for a bit. You don't have to stay the whole time, so feel free to drop in and out as you have time. All game development skill levels welcome. Whether you're bringing a game you're trying to ship in a month, or you're just planning on following some tutorials or trying out a new tool to improve your skills, use this time to make progress. Try to download any software you need before the working session. There is Wifi at this location, but it may be slow if you have to download any large files.

Fairfax Home Board Game Fun!
Fairfax Home Board Game Fun!
Welcome to the Fairfax Home Board Game Group. I have been running this group for 3+ years, every other Saturday. The group has evolved since I first started, so I thought I should update the description to more closely describe how it runs today. This group is hosted at my home in Fairfax and primarily plays hosted games, meaning a player owns the game and will teach others at the table how to play. Below are some tips for a great first visit and what to expect. *** **Tips for the Best Experience for Newcomers** 1. Check the event messages periodically, and more frequently as the event gets closer. If you see someone hosting a game you are interested in, respond to the post to reserve a space. 2. Watch a "how to play" video for the game you want to play. While the host will teach the game at the table, coming prepared will make for a better experience. Most hosts will post a link to a "how to play" video in their initial post. If you want to host a game feel free to post in the event and see if there is interest! 3. Arrive on time. Games tend to start promptly between 8:30pm and 8:45pm — I make it a rule not to wait past 8:45pm. Please also avoid arriving earlier than 8:15pm; if you get to the house before then, please wait in your car as we are usually still getting last-minute things ready. If you do arrive late you are welcome to come in, but depending on when you arrive there may not be a seat available. The last thing I want is for someone to drive all the way out only to miss the game, so please be on time! =) *** **What to Expect & General Tips** **Game Length** — Most games take anywhere between 2 and 3 hours, including the teach, which means you will typically only play one game per evening. Occasionally a shorter game wraps up early and that group may play a second, but that is more the exception than the rule. **Game Difficulty** — This group primarily plays medium to complex games, and while new players are always welcome — the host will teach you at the table! — it's worth knowing what to expect before you come. If you are looking to play games like Scrabble, Monopoly, Uno, or party games, this is probably not the right event for you. In three years I have seen only two party games played and zero classic board games. **Update Your Status** — Please be considerate of others who would like to attend but may be held back by space constraints. If you can no longer make it, update your status as soon as possible so others can attend — even if there is no waitlist. This also helps me plan seating and choose games appropriate for the number of players. *** In between sessions, join the conversation on our Discord, where we chat about games, minis, and other game-related topics!
