Hong Kong Backgammon Club Bi-Monthly Gathering
Nice turnout last Monday, with 12 people coming. Nice to see Danny back playing after an extended travel absence! It was a bit noisy due to a concurrent pub quiz in Russian and Ukranian, but I was told that they are meeting every two weeks, so we'll switch up our schedule to avoid them and meet next Monday.
Hope we can keep up the momentum this coming Monday!
Please note that the bar/restaurant expects us to buy food and/or drinks as patrons of the establishment.
All levels of backgammon skill are welcome, including beginners! We offer free lessons to people who are interested in learning. People with experience can play friendly matches among each other.

One Shot Saturday (Tabletop RPGs)
WHAT IS ONE-SHOT SATURDAY?
It's a weekly meet-up in Sheung Wan/Central, focusing on indie games and single-session games (one-shots). 而家所有游戏係英文嘅但如果你要嚟玩中文游戏,我哋會無任歡迎。只要湊啱玩家就行!
You can drop in and play at any One-Shot Saturday – you do not need to have played in a previous session or commit to playing again. Whether you've played an RPG before or not, you're welcome to join us.
Please arrive on time as once the games begin it becomes difficult to properly introduce latecomers.
Join the conversation, make plans, suggest games to play, etc. —

WHAT IS A TABLETOP RPG?
It's a game in which you never know where the next stop will be, because it’s all down to the decisions you and your fellow players make. Usually one person is the Game Master (or "GM"). Everyone else will be players, taking the role of the characters in the game. The players get to say what their characters say, think, and do. The GM describes everything else in the world.
Then... we play to find out what happens. The game is a conversation: I say something, then you reply, maybe someone else chimes in. We talk about what's happening to the characters we imagine and the world around them. We also talk about the rules, which help us decide what happens next if the next step is in doubt. The rules differ from game to game: some use dice to shape the story, others use cards or something else. It's always a conversation, though.
[Ladies Discount] Karen's Texas Poker Night (Non-Gambling/Bilingual Event)
\*\*\* Winner will get a $20 admission fee refund!
Karen will be hosting a Texas Hold'em session on that night. It's a non-gambling session, everyone is welcome to join! Newbies are welcome too, as rules will be explained on the spot!
Texas Hold'em is the most popular variation of the card game poker. In this game, each player receives two private "hole cards" and then five community cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table. Players combine their hole cards with the community cards to make the best five-card poker hand. The goal is to have the best hand at the showdown or to force all other players to fold.
Here's a breakdown of the game:
1\. Hand Formation:
* Each player gets two private "hole cards".
* Five community cards are dealt face up in the center of the table.
* Players combine their two hole cards with the five community cards to make their best five-card hand.
2\. Betting Rounds:
* Texas Hold'em has multiple betting rounds: pre-flop, flop, turn, and river.
* Players can bet, raise, call, or fold during each round.
3\. Winning the Pot:
* The player with the best five-card hand at the showdown wins the pot.
* The pot can also be won if all other players fold before the showdown.
Venue Fees: $100 / Ladies $80 (a complimentary drink is included)
No show: No show will definitely be removed from the group. (Altogether 101 members have been removed from our groups so far due to no show.)

Casual Boardgames - make friends, then beat them in games
Welcome to Casual Boardgames, where we enjoy classic tabletop games and social deduction games while bonding over good food, drinks, and great conversations.
We started this group to meet new people and make new friends, and bonding over games in a relaxed atmosphere is a great way to do that.
We currently meet near route 23 and Polaris Parkway, and this is close to areas like Powell, Lewis Center, Worthington, and parts of Westerville and Columbus.
Feel free to bring your own games or play one of the many games our members bring. If you are inexperienced, we will help you learn.
Here are just a few examples of the kind of games we play.
Tabletop/board games: Splendor, Catan, Azul, Dominion, 7 Wonders…
Social deduction games: Code Names, Chameleon, Werewords…
IMPORTANT:
1. While we love playing a variety of games and competing, we are not just about the games. We interact and talk while playing, and this leads to a lot of laughter and fun. If you just want to compete and focus solely on the game, then this is probably not the group you are looking for.
2. Many people join groups like this and never (or rarely) show up after weeks or months. If you join and never really come, we will eventually remove you from the group as a courtesy to our members. Why? Because limiting group conversations (on the app) to regular members makes communication and planning much easier. Also, while it may be rare, it protects members from people who join because they are interested in following a person instead of having a real interest in our group. If you get removed, it is just because you haven’t come, and we follow this protocol as a courtesy to our regular game players.
