Mental Fitness Walk โ coffee & conversation at Bois de la Cambre ๐ณโ๏ธ๐
We spend so much of the week keeping up. With work, with people, with the version of ourselves we're supposed to be. Saturday morning can be different. ๐ฟ
Come and join for an honest conversation and a mindful walk with people who also get it. No pressure to share anything you're not ready to share. You can talk as much or as little as you like; sometimes, just being outside in nature with good people is enough.
*This is part of a series of regular walks for the [Mental Fitness Collective](https://www.meetup.com/mental-fitness-collective/) โ a simple, free morning to step outside, move at a gentle pace, and be around people who aren't performing either.*
**๐Meeting point:** Stella - Coffee Food Bakery (in front of the tram stop Legrand), where you can buy a drink of your choice (optional).
๐๏ธ **Agenda:** We'll take a relaxed walk through Bois de la Cambre and a full loop around the lake, about 4-5 km, at a pace where conversation feels comfortable. We'll finish at the roundabout at the end of Av. Louise.
**Small housekeeping rule:** What happens in the group stays in the group. Whatever is shared between participants during our time together stays between us. It is to make sure this feels like a safe place to be honest.
I'll be there to welcome everyone. Come as you are. ๐ฟ
Free to join, RSVP to save your spot!
โผ๏ธAltough this is a free event, I would like to ask you to try to respect each otherโs time: In case you wonโt be able to make it or change your mind, please cancel your attendance by **8 PM, 3 July** the latest, so others might be able to take your place. Thank you!
I look forward to seeing you!
*The event is weather-dependent.*
*This walk will run every other Saturday. Each one is standalone, so come whenever it works for you. Join our group, [Mental Fitness Collective](https://www.meetup.com/mental-fitness-collective/) and get notified of our events.*
๐ฌ The Club โ Summer Movie Festival (Private Garden)
Small curated movie nights in a hidden garden in Ixelles, next to Place Flagey.
A mix of:
* **cult classics**
* **recent movies**
* **international cinema**
* **comedy nights**
* **karaoke & dubbing chaos nights**
* **comfort food and summer vibes**
**This is not a giant public Meetup** where 40 strangers stand awkwardly around overpriced drinks pretending networking is fun. Humanity already suffered enough.
Our idea is simple:
we gather in a private home and transform the courtyard into a small outdoor cinema.
Sometimes we cook together before the movie:
Italian, Thai, Lebanese, Japanese, Balkan, Greek, Latin American street food etc.
Sometimes people simply grab pizza from the excellent pizzeria next door and join the screening.
Food is intentionally relaxed:
bowls, finger food, street food, popcorn, snacks, comfort food.
**Some nights are more gourmet.**
Some are glorified pizza-and-movie nights.
Both are valid forms of civilization **;-)**
## **What makes this different**
The group is i**ntentionally small**:
usually 6 to 8 people maximum.
**People are introduced properly.**
Nobody gets abandoned in a corner.
The atmosphere stays human, social and safe.
**No heavy drinking.**
**No creepy behavior.**
No random people showing up uninvited.
Smoking is allowed because is outside in the courtyard and occasionally we may have **hookah nights** depending on the movie/theme.
## **Typical evenings**
* Wong Kar-wai + Asian comfort food
* Spaghetti western + Italian street food
* Anime + sushi night
* Greek cinema + mezze
* Balkan chaos cinema + burek
* Cult movie dubbing nights where people voice scenes live karaoke-style
Yes, this is a real thing now apparently.
## **Important**
Because Meetups and public internet are full of bots, spam accounts and socially radioactive individuals, **we do NOT post the exact address publicly.**
To join:
scan the QR code on the image and request access to the private WhatsApp group or send me a DM.
From there:
* we announce movies
* vote on menus
* organize cooking nights
* coordinate places
**If you are new in Brussels, introverted, traveling, recently arrived, or simply tired of giant impersonal events, this may be your thing.**

Hi everyone,
This coffee morning event is @ **Schmet !!!**, on Saturday, is 4 July 2025, from 10:00 - 13:00. - Outside!
Schmet opened its doors last summer. ๐
It's right at Place Poelaert.
This is their Instagram account. It's still very new.
https://www.instagram.com/schmet.bxl/
1. The **prime time** of the event is **10:30 - 12:30**. That's when most people will be there.
2. When you enter the place, you will see a long table that is set up for the event.
3. If you intend **to join past 12:00** (high noon), then there is no need to register. Just come and join!

***
**THE STRUCTURE of THE EVENT:**
* I post the event on Saturday/Sunday for the following Saturday.
* I send out a reminder as an email or a comment on the event page on Thursday/Friday.
* There is sometimes a waiting list.
* **For everyone on the waiting,** please check your status and messages on Friday evening the latest. I message everyone on the waiting list on Friday.
* **Please, move to "not going" AS SOON AS you know that you can't come anymore, that includes everyone who is on the waiting list.**
**IMPORTANT:**
* When you register yourself, be careful not to register accidentally a +1 guest (unless you bring a guest). It happens very often.
* If you have any questions then, message me.
***
**A MESSAGE FOR NEWCOMERS:**
*In the three years of hosting this coffee group, I have met many people who struggle with anxieties when coming to an event for the first time. Sometimes, it took them more than one attempt before being able to join.*
*Occasionally, people reach out to me before the event, and I have always been grateful for that as it offers the opportunity to communicate with each other and to find the best and most gentle way for that person to join the group.*
*I would like to encourage everyone who struggles with this to contact me before. It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.*
*In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.*
**THANK YOU AND SEE YOU ALL ON SATURDAY!**

GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation Events This Week
Discover what is happening in the next few days
Welcome to The Club.
**Welcome to The Club.**
A **curated** social community in Brussels for people who want real connections, memorable experiences, and **better energy than the usual random meetup chaos**.
Most of our events happen in **private homes**, gardens, hidden places around Brussels, or unusual locations outside the city. The goal is simple: create the kind of atmosphere where people actually talk, laugh, connect, and want to come back.
We organize things like:
โข gourmet lunches & dinners
โข picnics & roadtrips
โข cooking nights
โข walks around Brussels
โข karaoke & movie nights
โข debates & discussions
โข card and social games
โข occasional โchaperonedโ social evenings where people can meet naturally in a safe environment
The difference is that we personally curate and vet new members.
The host actively introduces newcomers, helps people integrate into the group, and keeps the atmosphere respectful and relaxed. We have zero tolerance for creepy behavior, unwanted pressure, spam, random uninvited people, or drama.
*Unfortunately, posting too many details publicly on Meetup or on the internet in general quickly attracts bots, scammers, fake profiles, crypto weirdos, and people who completely ruin the vibe for everyone else.*
Thatโs why most of our real coordination happens privately through our ***vetted WhatsApp community***.
To join, simply scan the QR code in the image.
If you are on your phone and cannot scan it directly:
โข take a screenshot of the image
โข open the screenshot in your photo gallery
โข most phones can automatically detect QR codes from photos by long pressing or using Google Lens / iPhone scan feature
Then request access to the group and introduce yourself briefly.
See you soon
Into the Woods... (~15k)
Our journey takes us once more under the towering beech cathedral of the Forรชt de Soignes. Weโll begin our transition from city to nature at the threshold where Brussels meets the wild, gathering right by Woodpecker (Le Kiosque) in the heart of Bois de la Cambre.
After meeting near the kiosk, weโll head past the ponds and disappear into the deep greens and dappled light of the ancient woodland.
๐โโ๏ธ What to Expect
Distance: \~15 km
Pace: 6:00โ6:15 min/km
Terrain: Light trails and firm forest paths. Trail shoes aren't a strict necessity but are highly advisable. (Note: The route may be adapted depending on weather conditions).
Good Company: Run with like-minded individuals and make new friends along the way.
Post-Run Coffee: An optional gathering at Woodpecker for well-deserved coffee and refreshments.
๐ Important Logistics
Bag Drop: ๐ซ Not available. Please arrive ready to run.
Hydration: Because we are hitting a full 15km stretch without a base camp, please bring a hydration pack, handheld flask, or running belt to carry your own water.
See you at the kiosk.
Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability.
By signing up for this event, you agree to release the organisers from any responsibility and liability in all claims. As the participation is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves.

๐ง๐ช๐ช๐ธ๐ฎ๐น Language Picnic & Games ๐๐ณ๐งบ๐ธ ๐ฒ (TBC๐ค๏ธ)
What's up Friends! ๐
If the weather gods feel generous ๐ค๏ธ, weโre going full park mode: picnic ๐งบ๐ณ, games, laughsโฆ and a touch of chaos โจ
โผ๏ธIf not - we'll switch to the usual indoor format at Le Pantin or Cafรฉ Leopold PDN.
๐Where
Park Cinquantenaire, Tour de Tournai ๐ฐ (that little castle-looking thingy in the park). Look it up on Google maps! We'll also post some pics of the exact spot. Canโt find us? ๐คทโโ๏ธ Just ping me here.
๐ก The Idea
Chill picnic with multiple language and game groups: Spanish, French - for sure, Dutch, Italian - if there is interest, other languages - TBD. Join a group and speak ONLY that language! Full immersion, baby! ๐ฅ
Bring your own drinks ๐ง, snacks ๐ฅช๐, blanket, and games ๐ฒ๐ธ (sharing always appreciated ๐).
Weโll break into small groups depending on the vibe: languages, games, other chats, sports.
โฑ๏ธ Timing
We kick off at 14:00 under the thickest shade we find. Stay as long as you like. Some of us would likely stay until the sun sets.
Joining later? Just drop a message in the chat in case we decide to move ๐.
๐ฒ๐ธ Games
All games are welcome in the park - boards, cards, balls, random stuff! Iโll have a few with me, but feel free to add your own favorites too.
๐ฆOn the waitlist but really want to join? Or got any questions? Just DM me.
๐ข Extra info might drop in the group chat or via DM ๐ฌ. Check your messages ๐ the day before so you don't miss anything critical ๐.
๐โโฌ The Friends Code:
๐ Games we play = group decision
๐ Linguistic chats = full immersion in one language. No one cares about mistakes. Just speak!
๐ Smaller groups = cozier vibes
๐ Got a favorite game? Suggest it or show up with it
๐ Can't make it? Cancel on time so someone on the waitlist can grab your spot
๐ If youโre on the waitlist, showing up is at your own risk ๐
See you there, folks ๐

Lustin to Dinant (25km)
We will continue our footpath from last week, this time going south from Lustin, mostly on the GR 126. The route starts with a climb to a viewpoint over the Meuse, then winds through the rugged Meuse Valley, passing by the Abbaye de Leffe, and finally descending into Dinant with panoramic views of the Citadel, and a well-deserved stop for a drink or ice-cream, depending on the train schedule.
The number of participants is limited to 12, so please manage your registration responsibly: only sign up if you really intend to come and cancel as soon as you know you canโt (this also goes for people on the waiting list!).
We will try to keep close to an average moving speed of 5km/h. We will walk both on paved and unpaved roads. Iโve not tested this track beforehand, so itโs possible that there are some mistakes in the planning (i.e. it may become longer ;-).
โโYou can find the gpx track here: [https://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/user.do?id=2756021](https://www.wikiloc.com/wikiloc/user.do?id=2756021)
โโMeeting point:
We meet at 9.10 in Brussels Schuman station at Platform 2. Our train (IC 2509 to Dinant) leaves at 09.23. and arrives to Lustin at 10.30.
โโ Trains back to Brussels: direct trains from Dinant are every hour at XX.13.
โโ Train ticket:
One way ticket to Lustin is 9.60โฌ or 5.80โฌ with train+. One way ticket from Dinant is 11.40โฌ or 6.80โฌ with train+.
Return ticket to Dinant should also be ok.
โโ Specifics:
Distance: ยฑ 25 km
Elevation gain: 670 m
Net walking time: ยฑ 6 h
Weather forecast: sunny and warm.
In the unlikely case of too bad weather, I may cancel a hike, even few hours before the event. If this must happen, I will of course update the Meetup website and send out an email to those registered. So it is important to have access to either the Meetup website and/or your emails.
โโ What to bring:
*Plenty of water + pack your own lunch/snacks
- Comfortable hiking shoes and clothes
*Sun and bug protection (Sunscreen, hat, tick repellent, etc)
- Raingear (just in case)
*Small money for drinks/ice-cream
โโ Basic rules:
Please RSVP only if you really intend to come. And if your plans change, update your RSVP asap, even hours before the walk. This is basic courtesy towards others. Repeated late cancellations are not well considered (at all). No-shows are even worse.
Do not show up for a hike unless you are on the โgoingโ list.
โโ Acknowledgement of member responsibility and release of liability:
You are responsible for yourself and should be fit enough if you want to take part. As the participation in the events is strictly voluntary and you freely choose to join, it is the responsibility of individuals participating to ensure that they are fit enough and have adequate coverage to protect themselves. By signing up for this event, you agree to release the organisers from any responsibility and liability.

Highlights and Hidden Gems in SQL Server 2025
With so much emphasis on cloud data platforms and AI these days, SQL people can feel left behind by all the marketing hype. SQL Server 2025 was officially released in November of 2025, though, and contains a ton of improvements that will make our SQL Server deployments a bit faster, better, and more secure. There are even more improvements tucked into the release that never made a marketing blog or press release that you'll likely be learning about for the first time in this session!
Join this session to learn about what makes your high availability a little more available, your performance a bit more performant, and your database more developer and app-friendly. Come spend an hour with SQL people talking SQL Server 2025 โ the good, the "not quite ready for prime time", and the hidden awesomeness.
Data & Analytics Wednesday - Learning from Everyday Data
**Practical Curiosity: Learning from Everyday Data**
How do we actually get better at utilizing our day-to-day data? Fancy dashboards and complex models might look nice and draw attention, but thatโs not where most of us spend our time. In fact those shiny outputs frequently sit unused, while the real insights are drawn from the analystโs daily practice.
Sometimes itโs as simple and as powerful as noticing that a segment is shrinking, a channel is underused, or certain links keep getting all the clicks. Thereโs many different places that the spark of insight can come from, but you have to keep your head in the data and know where to look.
In this session, weโll explore real-world examples of how segmentation, testing, and click behavior can uncover practical digital marketing opportunities. Youโll leave with inspiration for your own use cases, along with a few simple ways to ask better questions, spot meaningful patterns, and make smarter decisions without overcomplicating it.
**About Our Speaker:**
[Elaine Armbruster](https://www.linkedin.com/in/elainearmbruster/) is a Director of Digital Experience at the [American Diabetes Association](https://diabetes.org/), where she focuses on using data and insights to create smarter, more effective digital experiences. A lifelong Columbus resident, she has built her career in email marketing and the broader digital user journey, and is finding she most enjoys working in the messy middle where systems, data, and big ideas donโt quite line up yet.

\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~\~
Near the beginning of the event (1:30 pm), we do a standup:
* Organizer announcements, updates, and logistics

* What you're working on
* What you can help others with
Round 2:
* Community events you wanna plug. If none, that's cool too.
Round 3:
